I've bought a couple of bits
A navy leather biker jacket
Pair of faux leather trousers
(Think there is a leather theme going on here)
Has anyone else bought any bits yet?
Autumn is my fav season

@JMAngel1 I’ve just ordered a salmon pink sleeveless blouse from H&M for next year or with cardigans/jacket actually. Also a distinctly non-light spring long black skirt! They are great for finding unusual colours I think. I do find their camels to be a bit off for my skin tone though. I got a cosy jumper which turned out to be more or an apricot and a camel jumper that’s a tiny bit ‘muddy’ iyswim. I can work around them though. I also have a beautiful aqua green blouse from a while back too. I’ve quite a bit in pinks of various intensity so I think I’m on the hunt for some lilac tones as I have zero.

@Ginfordinner I do get a few new bits yes to freshen everything up. I don’t chuck out all the old stuff I just pair it up in a different way with a few new bits same as I do with my Christmas decorations. Not surprisingly I didn’t get much over summer this year but the things I am looking for will do for home as well as office working. I never got into the habit of wearing scruffy clothes wfh as it affects my mood, a bit like I’m not taking care of myself.

I love Autumn too!

I’m not buying at the moment but I’ve got some new jumpers from Sézane to wear and a leather biker from Hush that I’m looking forward to wearing.

dudsville · 22/08/2020 18:48

Last winter I completely revamped my wardrobe - so I'm simply looking forward to getting back into all my lovely things!

I must admit I tend to buy at the end of the season in sales and put things away. I've bought some M&S trousers today

I do have ankle boots ready.

I'm very lucky to now have the luxury of a spare wardrobe and drawers in a spare guest room so can swap clothes around

Miseryisabutterfly · 22/08/2020 19:15

@woodhill that sounds like bliss

Ginfordinner · 22/08/2020 19:15

Thank you for not flaming me for all of my questions. I love cothes shopping in real actual shops, not online, but I did buy quite a lot last autumn for A/W, and didn't get much wear out of them. I have been WFH since just before lockdown in March, and will be for the foreseeable future, so just don't need any of the lovely clothes everyone is talking about on here.

I m just enjoying seeing what everyone else is buying.

At home I just wear jeans, T-shirts and cardigans or fleeces. When I was working in the office I was much smarter. I guess I just stick to clothes that I can throw in the washing machine and not worry about how smart they look.

sqirrelfriends · 22/08/2020 19:29

Equestrian style wellies (my old ones were ruined)

A couple of high waisted cord skirts (navy blue and burgundy)

Two new jumpers

I'm going to try and limit myself this year. I'm WFH for the foreseeable so will probably live in old comfy things.

I need new cosy tights and socks and am also eying up an oversized hoodie blanket that I saw on amazon.

@Miseryisabutterfly

It's only because DD moved out and I have managed to get rid of most of her stuff out of there and to her

Miseryisabutterfly · 22/08/2020 19:46

@woodhill I am very jealous (not of dd moving out!). I’m renting a 2 bed apartment with two young children. Very little storage space and no chance of moving any time soon (expensive city)! Maybe if I spent less on clothes 😉

woodhill · 22/08/2020 19:51

Yes, I remember being in that situation when my dds were young, it is tough

Still got my ds here though😊

linmanuel · 22/08/2020 22:11

Op
Where was your jacket from?

DarlingCoffee · 23/08/2020 06:52

I’ve bought a few things from the Jigsaw sale: a cream knitted jumper, smart black silk top for going out and a grey linen dress that will all work nicely for autumn. Also purchased a pretty green and white floral tea dress from New Look this week.

I have my eye on some new black jeans, a navy jumpsuit and a Wyse cardigan.

Think that’s all I will need this year!

kitschplease · 23/08/2020 08:20

I need a couple of jumpers and a pair of jeans - will look at the whistles ones mentioned upthread.

missyB1 · 23/08/2020 08:23

I would be really grateful if anyone could recommend some nice straight leg jeans? Preferably high waist non stretch (hate baggy knees). Are the M&S ones any good? They don’t say if they are non stretch.

bendmeoverbackwards · 23/08/2020 10:06

@DarlingCoffee do you have a link to the Jigsaw jumper please?

Ginfordinner · 23/08/2020 10:19

I bought some at Debenhams last year @missyB1. I think some stores are still open to sell off their stock.

bendmeoverbackwards · 23/08/2020 11:10

That's lovely @DarlingCoffee

missyB1 · 23/08/2020 11:50

Thanks Gin I will have a look at Debenhams.

Ginfordinner · 23/08/2020 11:54

One thing I find difficult about buying clothes at this time of year is that there isn't enough colour choice for me as I am a jewel winter, and autumn colours just drain me. As we get closer to Christmas I find more clothes in colours that suit me, so I find that the clothes I bought last winter are the ones I will wear this autumn.

AntFarm · 23/08/2020 13:29

I've bought a black teddy fur oversize midi coat ready for Autumn/Winter. That's about it so far.

notwavingbutdrowning5 · 23/08/2020 20:38

Thank you for not flaming me for all of my questions.

Ha, Ginfordinner, you asked the questions I wanted to ask, and I was waiting for you to get flamed too. Glad everyone answered so nicely.

I keep a close eye on online sales - I’ve always WFH so it’s all too easy - and tend to buy bits and pieces, sneakily and slightly guiltily, as and when a bargain appears. I almost never pay full price for anything, but I do go for quality stuff, eg J Brand jeans and Chinti jumpers. I couldn’t possibly afford them full price and hold out for 70 per cent off.

I do envy people who plan outfits and then buy them. It must feel great to have an entire new outfit; I wear a constant mix of old and new. And I have plenty of items dating back 10 years and a few even 20 years.

I am a sucker for the Outnet, especially the clearance sales, and keep an eye on BrandAlley too. I also think Jigsaw has improved a lot in the last 2-3 years after a long dull patch. I’ve had some fab ankle boots and coats from there in the last couple of years.

I’m temped by faux leather trousers, though worried about age and height appropriateness (I’m 58 and 5ft 2). Any recommendations gratefully received.

Ginfordinner · 23/08/2020 21:31

Like you notwavingbutdrowning5 I wear a mixture of old and new clothes. I prefer to shop in shops as I am pear shaped with a small waist relative to hips, and need to try clothes on. The only things I have bought since lockdown have been T-shirts and a stretchy skirt, nothing fitted, and no footwear (which last me ages anyway as I am not heavy on shoes).

I love the idea of a teddy fur coat, but it is so damp where I live I wouldn't get much wear out of it. Sadly, I will have to stick with my deeply unfashionable waterproof jacket.

Oly4 · 23/08/2020 22:25

So far I’ve bought some JL cashmere jumpers and loads of M&S jeans (I like the stretch and think they are a £30 bargain).
I have my eye on some suede Chelsea boots and I want a new posh wool or cashmere scarf preferably in an emerald colour (has anyone seen one?). It needs to be quite wide not the skinny sort
