Beauty Advent Calendars 2020

After a weird year, who is thinking about treating themselves? Can’t believe how quickly this has come round!

Nothing is out yet but some places are keeping waiting lists for notifications e.g. Cult Beauty. The John Lewis sneak peak looks promising. And I believe Body Shop is out the end of this month.

Any you will be looking out for? I’m thinking of splurging on a decent one this year — I had serious envy over Cult Beauty last year. I’ve also become a huge SpaceNK fan this year so I’ll have my eye out to see what they’re producing.

My big surprise hit last year was Holland and Barrett — super cheap and some brilliant items. If it’s as good this year I might end up with that as a bonus.

I had Lumene last year and I loved the skin care, although I don't wear much make up. Might get it again, or go for Rituals (I'm in Scandinavia so don't have the choice you all do!).

The Lumene one is currently available on Feel Unique. I’ve gone for that as there are a few of their products that I’ve been meaning to try and also Look Fantastic (after watching various unboxing videos).

I was thinking of ASOS but got Origins 12 day instead. I managed to get three gifts instead the usual one with my purchase. Hopefully I get all of them. I will ask dh to wrap it for me as Xmas present and I will use it as 12 days of Xmas calendar.

I have narrowed down to Look Fantastic or Elle (as well as H&B that I ordered)

I'm thinking if I can't decide I may as well just order LF as it is cheaper and apparently you get £15 off if you order a beauty box so it's like getting the beautify box for free

And I don't want to study them too much as I'm trying to not completely ruin the surprise

So glad you posted this. I got the email earlier today about the discount between 7 and 9 this evening. Even set an alarm, and wasted 20 mins. trying to order two calendars, but the discount wouldn't apply. Just tried again after reading your post, and it went straight through. So thank you covidmonkey, DD and niece will be very happy!

No, just in a box with a bit of scrunched paper. I also bought two Sukin products and I think any pressure on the box would have made them go straight through the front of the calendar. Oh well!

I am now convincing myself that if I get my money back on the 2nd calendar I ordered, then it's like saving £40 so I can justify buying one of those Perfume Society boxes upthread...

Lookfantastic have changed the discount code for the beauty box. When I order, you only had to order one box. Now you have to order a minimum of 3 month subscription.

I ordered white company and loccitane. THAT IS IT!

I'd be tempted by the Asos offer but simply can't afford it before the end of the month, which is probably as well Hoping for more offers as we get closer to Black Friday. No word yet on one from Amazon this year.

There's the ADVENTNEWSUBS code but it's a shame you now have to get a minimum of 3 month's subscription to get the 3 months off as you are paying an extra £28ish

I am wondering whether to get another advent calendar or to subscribe to FabFitFun for the year or something like that instead

A few of the calendars seem to be good value for money though

I just go an email from Hermes to say that they should be getting my H&B one soon.

I am waiting for my H&B to be dispatched.

I might go for the Harvey Nichols GWP instead of a luxury calendar this year and stock up on some Sarah Chapman while I am at it. I was thinking of Cult Beauty or Net a Porter but there are quite a few things I just wouldn't use. The Lumene calendar sounds interesting, mind you. I have never used their skin care but people seem to really rate it.

What is Lumene? I don't think I know the brand although the name sounds familiar

I’m thinking of getting the Latest in Beauty box and getting DH to put in all into last year Liberty calendar.

I normally get Liberty which I love but i'm swayed by the Space NK one this year

I really would get the Lush one if it were cheaper but can not justify spending so much on that

Doesn't appear to be a saving and even if I spend £20 in Lush it last me ages!

It is a Scandinavian brand I think. I have only heard great things about it. The sizes in the calendar seem small but I don't mind that too much when I have the chance to try so many different things. Think I will go for it.

Any thoughts on the Charlotte Tilbury advent calendar - there seem to be a lot of travel sizes, and wonder if that detracts from the overall appeal?

I had the last CT one @ajandjjmum, the box is really solid and my daughter uses it for make up now. The travel sizes I had were generous and the clay mask is really nice, I have a bit left as use it sparingly but would probably buy when it runs out. The packaging and glamour is lovely but I don’t think you save much or get that much in the box compared to some other ones. Guess it depends how much you like CT? A single make up brand etc always has its limits, also do you like pillow talk a lot? It is quite pale and I am not sure it’s the best colour. Didn’t rate the magic cream or mascara myself but it does feel special and packaging nice. IMO I was glad to have it once but would not be an advent to get again. Last year CT was 10% off on Black Friday....

When is my H&B going to be dispatched... three other things I ordered following days have been dispatched.
