Hello! This is week FIVE of the EIGHTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Oct
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

Happy Monday everyone!

Terrible weekend
but feel v happy today because

a) I don't have diabetes and nothing wrong with my thyroid
b) it wasn't tonsillitis, it was a cold and it's gone
c) I have been interviewing for new jobs and feel optimistic (and alternately scared, eek, leave my current job end Oct)

And I love this weather so feel I will walk more now it's turned colder.

Good news about the bloodtest www.

I've managed to lose a 1lb in my personal 14 weeks to Christmas/holiday plan, so am a happy bunny. Two pound gone, 12 to go.

Need to concentrate on getting to bed earlier. That's my main mission for the week.

Marina · 01/10/2007 09:19

Happy belated birthday batters! Glad you had a great time XXX

And smashing news re the tests www, what a relief

I like this weather too - better for walking

And well done on the weightloss Unknownrebel. I forgot to weigh myself this morning, so will have to mail my weightloss buddy tonight instead. Dd keeps doing podium dancing on ours and I don't think it can cope with the combined horror of a gyrating four year old and a big fat momma, so it's "disappeared" . Poor thing. But I have been good over the past week so am cautiously confident.

winnie · 01/10/2007 09:28

good morning fellow bootcampers

Bootcamping has not been good on any level - except the alcohol one - life has been wall to wall stress and I've been running around like a headless chicken trying to sort dd out. The good news is that dd is home for the time being WHich is a relief.

And, today I am going to be brave and go for a walk on my own in the belief that if he appears I have the law on my side and everything is in place for an injunction

Really, really need to get into this and lose a stone before Xmas.

Happy Monday

Marina · 01/10/2007 09:30

Oh winnie, glad dd is back but that you are being harassed to the extent you can't enjoy your walks . Is this ex-h or dd's dad, sorry I missed that this was happening too.

winnie · 01/10/2007 09:44

oh marina, it's dd's father. I won't get into it here but life has been full of trauma for my children in recent weeks

Onwards and upwards and all that

WWW glad the tests were ok.
Batters, glad you had a lovely Birthday.
Unknownrebelbang, well done on the weight loss.

Dinosaur · 01/10/2007 09:47

Hello all!

Winnie - blimey, what a lot you are going through - you sound very brave.

WWW - good news re blood test!

Well, I haven't been bootcamping that assiduously, but I must be doing something right because when I was getting ready to go out on Saturday night DS1 fixed me with a gimlet stare and then announced "Mummy, you look younger than your age!".

Marina · 01/10/2007 10:11

Well, you do look younger than your age dino

cerys · 01/10/2007 12:10

Hello all!

Winnie, sorry you are still having problems.

Marina, your posts are always so witty, they always make me laugh - "Dd keeps doing podium dancing on ours and I don't think it can cope with the combined horror of a gyrating four year old and a big fat momma"

WWW, good news about blood tests. Wish we had the cold weather, it is wet and miserable here.

Dinosaur, that's a lovely compliment!

I ran 13.1 miles yesterday, in readiness for the half marathon I have entered in 2 weeks time

Today I am walking like a little old lady and am waiting at home for a courier to deliver a parcel. Am trying not to eat my way through the biscuit tin while I wait. DS has finally decided to give up the nappies so I am being jolly and full of praise whenever he performs on the potty

rosmerta · 01/10/2007 12:36

Hi all, bootcamping is ok. Dh was away in France yesterday and ds then acted up a bit at bedtime so dinner for me was a bowl of popcorn and half a packet of M&S choc chip biscuits. Though before bootcamp that would have been 2 bowls and the whole packet!

Winnie - sorry about the stress you're having lately but glad your dd is home again and hope things start getting better for you.

WWW - good news on the test!

Cerys - wow, am impressed with the running. Good luck for the half-marathon

Batters - happy belated birthday, sounds like you had a great time

Unknownrebelbang - well done with the weight loss! My scales gave up the ghost a long time ago so have no idea if I'm losing weight or not. I tend to judge it by how tight my clothes are

Dino - that's so cute of your ds! Nothing like a compliment is there!

winnie · 01/10/2007 21:57

Bootcamp not brilliant but not dreadful either today Certainly a much better day than of late. Even went for a long walk in the pouring rain. Which was good. Have walked 11,000 steps today. Drank water. No alcohol. Creamed. And mostly ate healthily (dd made a fab lasagne which I could hardly say no to).

Dino, how lovely of ds.
cerys, well done with the running
rosmerta, it has to be progress if you've halved your biscuit addiction

off to bed now with a book. Both children snoring in earshot It is a very comforting sound to me right now

unknownrebelbang · 01/10/2007 21:59

I prefer to use my clothes too, tbh, but I needed something to focus on iykwim.

Sunscreen yy
No booze yy
30 mins ex bike rather than walking
Lots of water yy
handcream yy
bed early - it's my mission for the week Eat healthily - yy, good day today, plenty of fruit
Be happy - been laughing loads at DS3 regaling his fire-escape route planning to a fire officer at cubs tonight (including the bit where he put his foot through the conservatory roof...)

TheDuchessOfCorpseBride · 01/10/2007 22:13

Hello everyone! Thank goodness I've found you again - had to use the 'search'!

Anyway, I may be pregnant again so I've not been running this week. I did have a long walk with the dog in the rain this morning and have done over 12,000 steps today.

I feel permanently nauseous and only want to snack - soup, fruit, crisps, crackers etc. . Deffo no booze!

And I'm exhausted, so I'm having another early night. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

bamamama · 02/10/2007 04:44

Morning all, won't rub it in but the weather is getting really rather warm over here but curiously all the bootcamp talk of rain and cold is making me homesick. I'm far too ginger to live in a hot country and I feel I should be wrapped up in a big coat, battling a north wind off the sea.....[some people are never happy emoticon]
Anyway moving on - glad all your test results were fine www and glad you had a good birthday batters. Winnie - I hope things are still ok for you and that the stress is easing off.
DoNB - everything crossed for you here's hoping for a bfp.
unknownrebel - the conservatory roof?????
cerys - hats off for the running, I have intended to start running again for at least a year. So far I've got my trainers out and devised a running playlist for my ipod. nothing more....
Bootcamp wise I've been good for the last few days, early nights are becoming a speciality. I really need an effective hand cream though - any recommendations?

WideWebWitch · 02/10/2007 07:12

unknownrebelbang · 02/10/2007 08:47

Yes bamamama.

Earlier this year DS2 and DS3 climbed out of DS2's bedroom window, ran down the conservatory roof and jumped on to the trampoline.

Cue absolutely blardy furious rebel/dh.

On asking WHY? DS2 announced that they were practising the fire escape route...

winnie · 02/10/2007 09:32

unknownrebelbang at dc's escapades but on reflection and with no injuries I can see the humour value (esp in telling a fire officer at cubs)

www, congratualtions on job offer
bamamama, I am not a summer person so I can understand your feeling homesick at the mention of Autumnal weather. Even though it was pouring with rain when I went for my walk yesterday I loved it. The last 4 months of the year are my favourite

TheDuchessOfCorpseBride, I have everything crossed for you x

Happy Tuesday everyone

Ooo DuchessofCorpseBride - will you be starting (or have you started) a 'Am I pregnant' thread - I lurve them. Fingers and toes crossed for you (am assuming you want to be pregnant?)

And well done on job offer WWW - always nice to be asked, whatever you do. By the way, what happened to your apple habit - did you replace/displace it with something else?

I've actually been good! Not too much alcohol(except Friday - must try and stop the 'wayhey it's the weekend' bingeing), not too much food but eating what I actually want to on the whole. Does falling asleep on the sofa count as going to bed early?

I am actually now paranoid about age-spots since this thread (always told myself I just had big freckles in a deluded way)and will be seeking out a cream that fades them - No 7 are supposed to do one - has anyone tried it?

TheDuchessOfCorpseBride · 02/10/2007 21:55

Not a great day. Still feeling sick. Have eaten toast & marmite, soup, grapes, tangerines, baked potato, rich tea biscuit. Just 10,000 steps. Lots of water/squash as very dehydrated.

I'm having a confirmation scan on Friday to see whether I really am pregnant again or whether the positive test is related to my August m/c. So I won't be doing an 'Am I or Aren't I' thread Moonshine!

unknownrebel - at your boys! I will keep tabs on our trampoline in case it suddenly gets moved towards the house!
www - congratulations on the offer. Was the champagne very nice? Mmmmmm.
cerys - excellent distance. How are you feeling today?

unknownrebelbang · 02/10/2007 22:04

Glad to hear the rebels' escapade amused you. We did see the funny side....eventually, and last night really was funny - the fire officer wasn't quite sure how to praise him up for the planning without incurring my wrath for the foolishness of actually trying it out. (I'm a helper so was there during the discussion).

www, fab news about the offer, whether or not you take it.

Hope everything works out ok duchess.

Anyway today...

Sunscreen yy
No booze yy
30 mins ex bike rather than walking
Lots of water yy
handcream yy
bed early - it's my mission for the week, but failed last night.
Eat healthily - reasonable day, until I stop to think about how many cream cakes were consumed through the day, grrr.
Be happy - very proud of DS2 at his cello concert tonight.

moonshine · 02/10/2007 22:10

DuchessofCorpseBride - didn't realise you had had a miscarriage. So sorry and hope it is good news for you on Friday.

prufrock · 02/10/2007 22:18

Well done on job offer www - but (and I'm sure I've said this before) whay are you suprised that so many people wnat you to work for them.

Duch - fingers crossed for you. You do know that early scans tend to be internal don't you - with a large dildo like object which they cover with a condom? Enjoy

V. Belated happy birthday batters

I am officially not bootcamping - being v. good during days but dh away again and I find it very hard to not have him here - even though he sits in his study working most nights I still miss him like buggery. So I am substituting wine, and being unable to sleep.

I started therapy last week - she told me as i was leaving to "not be too hard on myself if I can't be perfect" (which sounded just like you lot - why is my insurance paying £250 and hour when I can get you for free?). So off I drove, thinking "OK, what can I do over the next week to be not quite perfect" Methinks my subconcious is going to take some getting through to
