Neither the dress nor the tiara are my personal favourites.

But bloody hell it’s got class.

Granny’s dress and tiara turn it from ‘shameful secret wedding because daddy can’t be seen in public anymore’ to ‘intimate family occasion fully supported and loved by Grandmother, The Queen’. I think it’s a huge showing of support from the Queen to her granddaughter and that’s lovely.

Ooh yes Seneca. The DoE when he married HMQ wasn't allowed to have his sisters at the wedding due to their marriage to German men & their Nazi connections.

And I know what you mean terry about the photos in colour making the people so real, even more so if you imagine them with modern hairstyles & no moustaches.

Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderberg-Glucksberg is such a great name though. I wish he'd kept it, although I understand why Mountbatten was more acceptable in 1947....🙄

Just came on to say lovely video of the Cambridge kids it's and agree with whoever said it's nice they are being introduced in such a safe way! Good to see past lessons learnt and a great use of social media.

Now I think I have some history to catch up to keep up with the rest of thread! At least that will be something productive I can do with the new round time I have while all these restrictions are in place.

Tracy 😂 😂 😂!! Kate is only one step away from that! I don't like those Vampire Wife's dresses, much beloved by the York women as well, they always put me in mind of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac.

Technically off subject but did anyone watch PW documentary last night. I didn't but there is a very short thread on MN RF saying he seems to be a self entitled A-hole who gives Kate the run around. Will have to watch now to see what that's all about

I like Kate's look today it's professional and modern a good choice.

Didn't catch the documentary but I think a lot of the royal documentaries can make them seem stuck up remember the Charles at 70 one it made him out to be such a saint it was to ott. They go way to heavy handed. Wonder if this one did similar.

Love Kate's trousers, more like these please and not the mad culottes, overly long wide legs and the spray on skinnies.

I think the proportions were off on the pictured bottoms, although I like the other elements of the outfits.

There's a story behind the Scouts necklace and earrings (partial extracts from People):

Kate Middleton's new necklace and earring set was given to her in the most unexpected way!

Thérèse Tully, a physiotherapist in Galway, Ireland, met Kate and Prince William... [as they needed] somewhere to change in between engagements, the couple used her treatment room on site — and it was there that she left a note to the couple and a special gift for Kate.

Waiting for Kate in the room was a pair ofearrings and a personalized necklace that featured her children's initials.

"I called Aisling, a local jeweler and commissioned her to make something bespoke, something fit for a princess. I didn’t give her much notice but she did an amazing job," she adds.

Tully left (the pieces) in the room with a framed note and her business card.

After the couple left the room, Tully couldn’t wait to go inside and see if her gift had been accepted.

“I came back into the room and the boxes were gone and I was so excited! I phoned Aisling straight away and we just screamed down the phone, we were so happy," she shares.

“I received a letter from her personal assistant at Kensington Palace..." [to thank her for the pieces].

My favourite look on Kate in a long time. Trousers looked fab, the right fit and length; the coat finished the outfit beautifully. And if course the hair looking amazing as always... has she had it lightened? I like it!

Kate's hair looked gorgeous - not as long and draggy, lightly layered and a nice colour. I agree about the trousers, sick of the spray on skinnies or mad flappy trews. Rummage a bit more in Leti's wardrobe!
