Thought I’d offer a concrete big knicker suggestion for those contemplating going for comfort. I buy these from John Lewis/Waitrose. Go up a size. Lovely.

I kid myself they look a bit like gym wear in the black. I particularly like wearing them in winter with tights and a dress as it stops the tights rolling down under my spare tyre

Did you know that Marks is doing a sale on all linen at the moment? I have a nice new soft linen mix top and a sensible linen dress now. Perfect for warm weather!

I started using Arm & Hammer toothpaste a little while since, and always use coal tar soap.

Highlights of the last 24h include cleaning my wood floors with proper wood cleaner, dressing the children in soft white cotton pyjamas, reading The Times, and making plans to replant my entire frontage with lavender.

I am basically my children's granny.....

Hello thank you for the new thread thisenglish . The lavender has been amazing this year, a very deep colour. Plus the honeysuckle, I have an old fashioned garden of course I think I have woad growing next to the pond!!

I watched the entirety of Outlander during the lockdown and love the settings and clothes (1940s, 1960s and 1700s).

I'm a fan of Claire's hair and the monk shoes and brogues. I have a dress like this in red, but the white one is so simple but pretty.

Great a new thread! just spent a lovely morning with dd pottering around a junk/antique centre, got a pretty wedgewood dish for my bar of laundry soap arriving soon. I found a selection of gorgeous lace and embroidered hankercheifs but sadly they were part of a display and not for sale.

I am finally doing something with my garden after 6 years of being in my house. I am planning borders with honeysuckle and roses and maybe an exotic clematis. I don't like gardens that are all decking and hard surfaces with few actual plants.

These JL knickers are absolutely brilliant.

I couldn't agree more about deckng always I hate the stuff, it's a terrible way to use valuable trees. Maybe recycled is ok , it still creates living spaces for small unwanted animals. Is slippery in the wet and frozen winters. I like a garden to look like a garden not an "Outside room"

Fenjal! Has this been mentioned? The little body spray and the shower gel smell LOVELY!

3 of my daughters are early 20s and one of them scoffed at me buying a couple of fenjal body sprays in boots last year as we mooched around. Roll on to a couple of months ago and what did i spy peeking out of one of their handbags?

I have a rose candle burning that's spot on for a Yardley rose scent, and am trying to work out how to get lavender and rose into the whole house since it is so relaxing. Drinking tea out of my proper flowery china cup and saucer, and reflecting that it's time to buy a new tea strainer and keep tea bags for the fast tea instead of the relax and enjoy teas of the day.

V nice tweed skirt I'd had my eye on that came up in the sale now on order, with ambition to wear something other than my beloved jeans. What length tweed skirts do experienced skirt wearers like? I'm slightly baffled that with July starting tomorrow, I'm still clinging to my woolly socks and tights.

This is the thread for me. I love pearls and have a beautiful string of graduated pearls I inherited from my GM. I wear them as often as possible. I love tweed skirts in winter too.

Now I'm off to read the first thread.

I'll add my own faves to your list of perfumes;

Chanel no.9 (i didn't get the first one No. 5) it smelt like cats pee to me
Miss Dior that has a really lovely powdery old fashioned scent
I use real rose spray (from my favourite health food shop)
Also lavender ess. oil under me armpits
I used to love the above branded scents and Penhaligon's Rose and its Bluebell (dh used to buy me for Christmas and birthday gifts every year) but they're too chemically for me to put neat on my skin now. I do use the dregs on my clothes before going out somewhere special though
