The Zoya dress and the pink checked blouse arrived. The blouse is absolutely beautiful but completely wrong for my colouring. The dress is huge and completely the wrong length for me. I order a Toast dress in that style every couple of years and never learn. Great colours though

fizzpopbang123 · 25/06/2020 14:41

I received the Zoya dress for £51 from JL. I would disagree that is it huge, but it is an oversized style. Across the shoulders and armholes it's actually quite neat fitting. I'm an 8-10, often take XS or 8 with Toast, have really slim arms, but have the Zoya in Small and it's just about the right size and no more. The rest of the dress has a lot of fabric though, so much so that it looks rubbish with the belt. If the belt was wider, like the obi style belts they often do, it would work better. I like it as a wafty kaftan though!

I think that about the zoya as well. Lots of fabric but not in and of itself huge. I’m wearing my usual Toast size in it (in fact my usual high street size), and while it looks big with the puffy sleeves, across my (fairly slender) back I couldn’t go smaller. The belt is crap though. When I think of the original price, I would def have expected it to have a decent belt.
Almahart · 25/06/2020 14:59

I agree, I think it's a well made dress it's just a terrible style on me - cuts mid calf which looks awful

Moominmammaatsea · 25/06/2020 15:08

Insomnia and a toddler have been terrible for my bank balance as I’ve discovered that the Toast sale bargains seem to go live on the system circa 6.30am. This morning I ordered the Seth cotton linen shirt and the poplin oversize shirt, both at 70 per cent off - the latter is still full price on the Toast website. I WILL only be keeping one but I wanted to spend more than £50 to take advantage of the JL free delivery offer.

Moominmammaatsea · 25/06/2020 15:08

Should have made clear I’m referring to the JL Toast sale...

Saurus72 · 25/06/2020 15:25

There are a few more additions to the sake on the Toast site. Does anyone have the garment dyed linen dress? Am considering - looks good for a summer WFH, but will it make me look pregnant..?🙄

You need it. It’s a wonderful dress.
fizzpopbang123 · 25/06/2020 15:34

ilovecherries agree, the belt seems like an afterthought and doesn't suit the cut at all. At full price, I would have wanted both the belt and no belt option to have looked good and fitted well. At £51, and as I usually go for the wafty kaftan look anyway, I can live with it!

Not tempted by the new added sales styles. Compared to the fantastic reductions on JL though, none of seems worth it at the moment!

faustina · 25/06/2020 15:39

More things added to the toast sale!

Countmeout · 25/06/2020 16:20

Do we think that’s it then reduction wise? New stuff added. Some very nice - don’t look!

It’s a brilliant dress. The perfect sling it on and forget about it dress for a hot day. I’ve just washed mine for the first time, ready to wear again tomorrow. I’ve nearly lived in it since it arrived.
ilovecherries · 25/06/2020 16:35

I have the sleeveless diamond print dress from last year. Sleeveless can be a bit marmite but I’m so old I’m past caring. I got a lot of use from it in the winter as well with thick tights, brogues and a chunky jumper tugged over it, tucked into a leather belt.

faustina · 25/06/2020 16:38

Some nice tee shirts added, though I'm disappointed there don't seem to be any new trousers. I think I've given up with the John Lewis site now - I'm a bit fed up with it saying things are in stock when they aren't.

ilovecherries · 25/06/2020 16:41

Jeez. I love a dress. One decision and your done!

ilovecherries · 25/06/2020 16:42

You’re!

Alsohuman · 25/06/2020 16:57

Diamond dress
That’s such a good dress. It’s beautiful in navy too. Unfortunately my arms are too bad to just say fuck it or it would be on its way here.
ilovecherries · 25/06/2020 17:05

Honestly, I just can’t care any more. I think increasingly I see my body as a collection of functional parts. All I require of them these days is that they work!

Alsohuman · 25/06/2020 17:07

🤣

Nanasueathome · 25/06/2020 17:07

I’ve got my eye (and it’s in my basket) on the floral print dress but it’s still full price at £160
I can wait........

Theluggage15 · 25/06/2020 18:02

Hello all. I’ve been lurking on this thread and have now bought a few things from Toast based on the Toast appreciation I’ve seen. I’ve been really pleased, the quality is lovely.

Can someone help with the Anokhi Voile shirt please? I’ve seen a comment in the reviews mentioning how they were disappointed by blotchiness in the fabric background after washing and wished they’d known about that before buying. Do they mean it fades after washing, why would it go blotchy? The Toast response doesn’t really address the washing issue.

I really like it but am now not sure about ordering.

Railingsohno · 25/06/2020 18:16

@ilovecherries that’s gorgeous! I would wear it with a thin poloNeck underneath in winter, like a pinafore almost

@Saurus72 is that coming up in the sale? It’s still full price for me.
Moominmammaatsea · 25/06/2020 18:32

@faustina, try the JL site early in the morning (I was online at 6.30am today and things seemed to click live then). I wonder if the stock is there but it’s a systems/process thing for returns which is on an automatic timer?

@Theluggage15, welcome to the cult!
