Do you like this wedding dress?

And do you think it would have that heart stopping simplicity which I see in it, anyway, in real life? It would just be for a small register office winter wedding.

Reminds me of holy communion. Not a fan of the cut, neck, length or sleeves.

CuppaZa · 16/05/2020 00:13

For me it’s on the same level as Ellie Goulding’s wedding dress

HangryChip · 16/05/2020 00:14

How about

Vellum · 16/05/2020 00:16

It could look wonderful if the fabric is beautiful and the fit is right. It’s considerably nicer than the John Lewis one linked upthread.

thinkfast · 16/05/2020 00:17

It's polyester! Confused

justforthisnow · 16/05/2020 00:25

That would work on a size 6 sylph, with long legs, and amazing skin. The low cut back would not suit a lot and no pics shows that the makers know this.
Certainly much better on sale at this price. 100% polyester? There's better quality in vintage shops.

ReturnofSaturn · 16/05/2020 00:49

Amish paradise.

BitOfFun · 16/05/2020 00:53

I think it's absolutely beautiful.

myangelalex · 16/05/2020 00:58

Looks like something a nun would wear under her black gown. Not a fan.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 16/05/2020 01:02

My first thoughts:

  • institutional
  • looks weird around the bust area
  • double-layer polyester???

Why wouldn't they show it on a model?

ReturnofSaturn · 16/05/2020 01:07

Polyester nightmare too.

Tezza1 · 16/05/2020 01:21

Stunning. If it works on you, you will look perfect.

But then, I hate ''blingy," lots of lace, frou-frou wedding dresses. Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's dress has always been my favourite look.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 16/05/2020 01:26

Definitely a no. Was 90% no and then leapt up the final ten with the polyester realisation.

Simple wedding dresses can be stunning, but not that one.

TimeWastingButFun · 16/05/2020 01:32

It looks a bit like a nurse's outfit - very functional but drab, not a wedding dress!

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 16/05/2020 01:33

I’m playing spot the Catholic, on this thread. Grin

As to the dress, sorry OP, but I do think it’s a bit drab and I’m someone who doesn’t like OTT wedding dresses. The first thing I thought of, when I saw the sleeves, was granny nighty.

AntiHop · 16/05/2020 01:36

Nope. I agree with @bloated1977. Victorian nightie.

pooopypants · 16/05/2020 01:42

No...... it's a no from me

Reminds me of a Victorian nightie

YgritteSnow · 16/05/2020 01:48

I think it's lovely and I like the John Lewis one too.

Ihaveamind · 16/05/2020 01:48

If you could be honestly described as gamine or elfin then it could be lovely on you.
If not, then it's more school matronish.

chardonm · 16/05/2020 02:01

No sorry I don't like it at all

Aclh13 · 16/05/2020 02:29

On screen it's a bit church of latter day saints, but if the style fits Welland goes with the theme of the wedding ect I'm sure it would look lovely when accessorized

MrsAvocet · 16/05/2020 03:51

I'm undecided. Half of me thinks it is too plain and would look hideous, but the on the other hand, the right person could pull it off and look amazing. I think that it would only suit someone who is tall, dark and very skinny though. White is quite an unforgiving colour at the best of times, and solid, unbroken white even more so. The neckline would be very unflattering if you have any boobs to speak of, even if you are slim overall. But it does have a certain 60s style chic to it, and with the right accessories it could be very striking. I think you would have to try it on to be sure, but it could well be one of those dresses that looks really frumpy on the hanger but very stylish on. What colour scheme and style do you have in mind for accessories and flowers etc? I think you would need something quite bold - I can't imagine a dress like this working with pale pink roses somehow.

Mascotte · 16/05/2020 06:33

I like it.

And to be fair, even most £1k wedding dresses seem to be polyester.

BasiliskStare · 16/05/2020 06:50

I think it could look fantastic & at £150 or as a pp said £90 with a voucher - surely worth ordering as long as it can be returned so you can try it on. It doesn't say nighty or nun to me. But then what do I know. All best wishes for your wedding

Booboostwo · 16/05/2020 07:23

Sorry no. More appropriate on a novice nun.
