And do you think it would have that heart stopping simplicity which I see in it, anyway, in real life? It would just be for a small register office winter wedding.

There needs to be pictures of it on someone! It's difficult to tell what length it is - it looks midi from photo but description says long. No picture of the back (that I can see anyway).

I think there are more beautiful "simple" dresses out there.

EmmaC78 · 15/05/2020 21:34

It is really difficult to tell from that photo. My initial reaction is that it is too plain and a bit nun like as a few others have said. Worth ordering though. I'd be interested to see photos of what it looked like on.

icelollycraving · 15/05/2020 21:35

It is quite matronly if you have boobs I think. I think there are a million nicer dresses out there. Saying that, what I love in a wedding dress isn’t this so if you’re going for quite a specific look it’s worth ordering so you know in real life.

trotesio · 15/05/2020 21:36

Against the vibe, but it's bloody awful - frumpy af.

georgialondon · 15/05/2020 21:37

I don't like it but if you Love it you should go for it.

I just think it's the one day where you can wear the most amazing dress so why choose that

vengeancer · 15/05/2020 21:38

really hard to say without a picture of anyone wearing it. I really love simple/minimalistic clothes but really hard to tell if it would not come up frumpy.

Do you have a different link with a model?

Samtsirch · 15/05/2020 21:39

It’s a lovely dress, but I thought nightgown at first, I suppose it depends upon what you wear it with etc.
My mother married in a similar dress, that was during the 50s.
She absolutely loved it and looked heavenly in the wedding pics.
It boils down to whether you feel happy with it.
It’s your wedding 😊

Handsnotwands · 15/05/2020 21:41

Everything I’ve ever bought from la redoute has been widely shaped and nasty fabric

Take a punt. You can always return it. (though you’ll be bombarded with their marketing mail forever)

quietheart · 15/05/2020 21:45

I think it’s Quaker like, reminds me of a handmaid’s tale.

MillicentMartha · 15/05/2020 21:46

Need to see it on a model, really.

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 15/05/2020 21:49

I’m really not keen on it. I know it’s a low key wedding but the dress is just.....meh. Sorry.

Congratulations though on your upcoming wedding

Chewbecca · 15/05/2020 21:49

Could be amazing on the right woman, accessorised well, could be shocking if not.

Tardigrade001 · 15/05/2020 21:49

I like it!
You'd have to style it right, though, to make it look like it's simplicity is a desired effect, not lack of effort. Maybe long flowing hair or a loose bun, 'natural' make up, low-heel shoes, a bouquet of field flowers...

welldonesquirrels · 15/05/2020 21:50

I adore it in the pic, if you're going for elegant simplicity it definitely ticks that box, but it's really hard to tell what it would look like on and what the fabric would be like.

bloated1977 · 15/05/2020 21:55

It's dreadful. It's like a victorian nightie!!

Em308 · 15/05/2020 21:55

Very Amish

Pieceofpurplesky · 15/05/2020 21:58

It has a Handmaid's Tale vibe

Phrowzunn · 15/05/2020 22:01

Ohh if it fit you very well I think it would be beautiful. Some classic court shoes and a wee bouquet, something in your hair. You could always get it tailored to fit you exactly by a seamstress. I think if it was really nipped in at the waist it would be lovely. Or you could just get some very thick ivory ribbon and tie it round your waist instead. Are the sleeves sheer?

jrb123 · 15/05/2020 22:03

Could you ask them to put up a photo of the back? It's really not fair of them just to describe it without a photo!

ilikepurple · 15/05/2020 22:04

I don't think it shouts wedding dress at all.

steppemum · 15/05/2020 22:06

I am on the fence.

I think the long sleeves could loko amazing or could look really hot and stuffy depending on when you get married, how thick the fabric is (sheer would be more delicate)

I think it has a 70s vibe which some people could carry off amazingly and others would look like they were wearing something form the dressing up box.

I think it is really odd that they sell at as having an amazing back feature, but don't inlcude a picture of the back. Makes me suspicious.

the back could be th emakign of it, or it could look really unbalanced with those long sleeves and high neck.

So, could be WOW, or could be meh. need to see it on really.

Littlemeadow123 · 15/05/2020 22:09

It's lovely. You'll be able to have lots of fun with accessories too.

Beautiful3 · 15/05/2020 22:11

I don't like it, looks like a holy communion dress. It would only suit someone petite.

Wendyhaverford · 15/05/2020 22:13

Would need to see it on you so I think it's worth a try. I like the vibe of simple, classic and I like the length. I like long sleeves. But the darts/ pleats on the chest don't look nice in this pic. Also the pleats/ skirt. Finally the fabric looks a bit too sensible. It might be too understated and....."modest". Worth a try but I wouldn't be optimistic.
