Are you looking better or worse in lockdown?

At the start of lockdown I was definitely looking worse! Just generally knackered, wearing tatty clothes and probably a bit fatter😳

But now that we’re about 6 weeks in I definitely think I look better! I’ve stopped wearing make up but have gotten used to the sight of my bare face. Been running and cycling lots so feel quite fit. I mean, I don’t look amazing (I still looo knackeredšŸ˜‚ and I probably should make more effort with my hair etcšŸ˜‚) but on the whole I am surprised I don’t look worse!

Do you feel you look better or worse in lockdown? And is anyone else enjoying looking more natural?

The same. Which was a bit shite anyway Grin

optimisticpessimist01 · 10/05/2020 12:51

My skin looks better, I used to wear a fair bit of makeup every day for work so its nice to have a long period of time without wearing any. I agree about getting used to my bare face! I used to think I looked horrendous without makeup but I think I look ok now!

I've about maintained my weight but I am going on a bit more of a fitness kick from next week, I feel so much better after exercising so going to try and do a more physical form of exercising 5 days next week (i.e. breaking a sweat rather than a gentle walk).

Floisme · 10/05/2020 12:52

I take make up breaks anyway because I'm not comfortable with the, 'I scare small children without it' mindset, and I don't want to feel dependent on it. I always go back to it but each time I do, I wear less. That's partly because I can't be bothered and partly because the break always gives me a fresh perspective and I realise some things don't look as good as I'd thought.

I'm making more of an effort to exercise but I'm also doing less on a day-day basis e.g. not walking to work. Hopefully it'll balance out.

I'm missing my hairdresser. Interestingly, although I think my hair looks like crap in the mirror, it doesn't look that bad yet onscreen yet, so I might consider going longer between appointments.

CorianderLord · 10/05/2020 12:59

I look the same. I broke out for a week but then that calmed down when I bought some cleaner.

I have neither gained nor lost weight which is annoying because I could do with dropping a stone

hippospot · 10/05/2020 13:03

Skin - tons better from no booze or make-up and lots of time outdoors and a bit of sunshine and more sleep. Am keeping up usual skincare routine.

Weight - nearly the same as before, perhaps 1kg more - from not commuting by bicycle/walking as much.

Hair - utter shit. It's short so usually gets trimmed every 5 weeks. Now I'm on about week 10! I'm just glad I don't colour it so no roots.

Nails/brows - I do my own so no change.

BBTHREE76 · 10/05/2020 13:03

Weight - probably gained a few pounds
Nails - initially terrible (after removing gel nails) but starting to improve and look healthy
Skin (face and body) - better than ever due to no makeup and taking the time to exfoliate, moisturise and tan

Mnthrowaway20202 · 10/05/2020 13:13

Hair now looks awful to the point that it’s detracting from my appearance Grin not much I can do to hide my brown roots and blonde lengths, it also desperately needs a cut

But other than that I look normal, surprisingly haven’t gained weight. Have lost a bit of muscle tone though

EasyPleasey · 10/05/2020 13:30

I look much more rested and feel less stressed by work, wfh but also less pressure for the most part, not having to get up at 630am to commute.

I was gaining weight but getting that under control now, less snacks and longer walks.

My hair looks dreadful though Grin

CocoCorona · 10/05/2020 13:36

Worse. Have come out in zits all over my face. Managed to do my own eyebrows the other day and one is thicker than the other.

Sure I’ve put on weight.

Hair is okay, managed to dye the greys once a few weeks ago.

I’ve stopped maintaining my skin because ive got nowhere to go so that’s why it’s gone shit I think.

Karcheer · 10/05/2020 13:39

Worse, my skin is terrible I don’t know why, apart from I’m not wearing makeup but would’ve thought make up world make it worse not better.
Much heavier.
Nails etc not done.

Parker231 · 10/05/2020 13:44

Not worn any make up since lockdown. Done loads more exercise to make up for not having personal trainer but feel as I’ve lost muscle tone. Weight is the same. Have eaten much better as although working full time from home, I’ve had more time to cook properly.

Sooverthemill · 10/05/2020 14:13

The same. I don't understand what would be different just because you can only leave the house nice a day? Do you mean because ( for example) you can't buy fancy snacks daily? Because you are exercising less? Or maybe you are not bothering to dress up? I'm intrigued by the idea that your face and body will have changed. I guess hair is longer but it would be anyway.

Murdernotinparadise · 10/05/2020 14:17

Not wearing makeup which feels good, think I'll carry on when this madness ends. Some grey routes which I no longer care about. Lost a stone due to stress of loss of income in the house. Tbh I'd rather be happily munching away on biscuits

Murdernotinparadise · 10/05/2020 14:17

*roots I mean Blush

ParkheadParadise · 10/05/2020 14:18

I look like shite
I'm still wearing a hoodie and leggings I've not had my Jean's on for weeks. I'm eating my way through the sweetie cupboard.
But I have been able to grow my fringe out🤣🤣

BatshitCrazyWoman · 10/05/2020 14:20

The same, I think! Nails and eyebrows the same as I do my own. Hair is okay as I've been deep conditioning and it has grown a fair bit (my hair and nails grow like weeds), which I'm really liking.

Skin is the same - I wear pretty light make up every day and have always looked after my skin.

I don't own scales, but I seem to have lost a few inches (not in height šŸ˜‚) as my clothes are looser. I've been working out a bit more and had a bit more time (working from home) to mix up my exercise, which I'm loving.

OneNewName · 10/05/2020 14:21

Bit of a tan as I've been careful to top up vit D without sunscreen. Owning the grey. Rest of me is low maintenance.

Yankathebear · 10/05/2020 14:21

The same. My life hasn’t changed much.
I have put on weight but was trying to anyway.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 10/05/2020 14:22

Oh and I wear 'proper' clothes every day because it makes me feel more productive!

Flippinfurloughed · 10/05/2020 14:22

I look better!

My skin I’m taking time to actually do a proper regime on, I’m doing regular masks and have discovered acid. I’m not wearing make up and like others, I’m getting used to my normal face again.

My nails used to be acrylic gelled all the time, and I’ve realised that they look better short and buffed. I did footner a few times so my feet are looking good.

My weight has stayed the same, which is a shame as I could do with exercising more. I’m more comfortable in my own skin though I think - and I’ve realised I’d rather eat nice food and not deny myself, but equally I’m not craving take aways and crap.

My hairs longer but I suit it I think. I colour the roots at home myself anyway, so that’s not changed.

I’ve taken time to redo my laser hair removal, and am buffing and moisturising more. Coupled with some time in the sun, I look healthy.

I don’t want to go back to normal, feeing I need a full face of make up for work, eating crap because it’s quick and I’m tired. I hope I remember this time and keep up some of the positive changes.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 10/05/2020 14:24

my hair is in desperate straits, it should be short, and so needs regular trims.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 10/05/2020 14:24

i still go out to work though, so no new clothes.

Lolimax · 10/05/2020 14:25

Worse. Awful. I needed my very blonde lashes and brows done just before lock down. They've paled to oblivion! I have very short hair I have trimmed every 5 weeks so I look unkempt. I've put on weight.
And as I'm NHS my skin has really suffered from 12 hour shifts with masks and visors.
Not a lot going for me really.

OVienna · 10/05/2020 14:25

Fat as a house, here. Have to take desperate action to avoid having to buy a new wardrobe.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 10/05/2020 14:26

oh and eyebrows, need sorting.
