Are you looking better or worse in lockdown?

At the start of lockdown I was definitely looking worse! Just generally knackered, wearing tatty clothes and probably a bit fatter😳

But now that we’re about 6 weeks in I definitely think I look better! I’ve stopped wearing make up but have gotten used to the sight of my bare face. Been running and cycling lots so feel quite fit. I mean, I don’t look amazing (I still looo knackeredšŸ˜‚ and I probably should make more effort with my hair etcšŸ˜‚) but on the whole I am surprised I don’t look worse!

Do you feel you look better or worse in lockdown? And is anyone else enjoying looking more natural?

Worse. I feel exhausted due to insomnia and stress and my eyes are often swollen because for some reason I cry over every silly little thing lately.

Jumbojem · 10/05/2020 14:36

Hopefully better. No commute or kids after school activities to rush to means we've all had more time to run and cycle. Myself and my kids are definitely fitter. Don't think I've lost weight but certainly no bigger.
I've just cut my own hair. I last had it cut Feb 2019 it was like straw so figured it couldn't be worse. It's not totally straight but the condition is now better and am about to order hair mask.
As I'm not wearing make up I've been using the time saved to use up all the serums, masks and other items I didn't used to find the time for. Had a few terrible breakouts at first but skin is ok. My next job is to try and drink more water.

RomaineCalm · 10/05/2020 14:41

Swings and roundabouts here...

Eating better food - lots of home-cooked stuff, fruit and veg, and no ready meals or takeaways so skin feels better and clothes are very slightly looser. Drinking more though and baking so having more sweet stuff. Getting lots of exercise but missing some of the strength training that I would do at the gym as I can't get motivated to do home workouts.

Hair is pretty long, grey is coming through and my fringe is a bit chaotic but is benefitting from less blow drying, straightening etc.

Nails were horrible when the gel came off but finally growing out and looking stronger and healthier.

Need to sort out brows and feet but I don't feel as much of a 'lockdown disaster' as I thought I would. Have probably also saved £££ when you add up hair, nails and waxing appointments over the last 2 months.

Rebelwithallthecause · 10/05/2020 14:47

The same but a bit more pregnant

BrandyTrap · 10/05/2020 17:04

Not sure! I’m wearing less makeup and taking more time over a skin routine, but my skin was/is ok so no noticeable improvement. My sleep has gone to shite so that’s not helping.

Eyebrows/nails are looking awful. Took the gel off about 3 weeks ago and my nails are still awful. I feel naked without my long nails!

Hair is long and could do with a trim but there’s a lot less grey growing through than I expected.

I’ve been doing stacks more exercise than before lockdown and although I feel better, I don’t look any different.

Sadie789 · 10/05/2020 17:07

Definitely worse.

I’m exhausted from 2 young DC.

I had lost a little weight but put a few lbs back on since I am all walked out.

My face is red and greasy which is what happens when I’m run down.

My hair grows out the way instead of down because it’s so frizzy.

I’d just like a day off to lie somewhere cool and dark and then get my nails and hair done, might improve my overall appearance.

Sarcelle · 10/05/2020 17:44

The one thing I take from this time is that I dress for other people. I don't mean for my DH, or to look sexy or stylish, but just I make more of an effort in "normal times". But I like not wearing make up, just washing my hair and leaving it, wearing the same clothes on rotation (clean clothes, I must add).

I have wasted so much money on stuff but I am happier without it all.

My skin is the same as I do have a small regime for that, my hair is messier, and my weight is the same.

When normal returns I am only going to wear make up on office days and special occasions.

HonestOpinion10 · 10/05/2020 17:46

Way worse.

PhoneLock · 10/05/2020 17:54

No noticeable difference. Slightly trimmer possibly. I don't normally do makeup, so no change there. I have low maintenance naturally curly hair that just needs a shake in the morning. Luckily, I had it cut shortly before lockdown.

I also wear 'proper' clothes during the day as I find it helps me feel more like working.

user1494055864 · 10/05/2020 18:01

My feet are 100% better, as I did a Footner, and I've had time to keep up with maintenance, plus I spend more time sitting down!

My eyebrows look good, as I'm dyeing them myself.

My long hair could do with a trim, but my grey roots are nowhere near as bad as I thought they would be, so I will definitely cut down on hairdresser visits.
My nails are always a mess, because they break easily, as I am always cleaning something.
I have put on a bit of weight, probably about half a stone, which makes me unhappy.

flabbyflabbyflabguts · 10/05/2020 20:03

I had gained almost a stone, but am now 5lb down after knocking the wine and Pringles on the head. Apart from weekends of course when I have a Zoom drink along.
My skin is definitely looking better. My hair is passable, and I never really get any procedures done so no difference there.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/05/2020 21:14

Jury's out here

On the plus side :
I am not buying clothes as much , I'm not a fan of online except M&S ( usually I do C&C from store though)

Not worried about my hair but I will get it trimmed when the stampede for the hairdressers dies down. I am going grey . I have some dye (Semi P) but I thought "Why am I putting myself through this?"

I work P/T 4 days , just got some new uniform which makes things easier .

I am using all my bottles that are sitting there with the aim to carry on with Beauty Hoarder .
My neck was looking well craggy but I found a bottle of serum in the drawer which has made a huge difference in just a couple of days .

Meals are more planned because we cannot just nip into the supermarket on the way home now .

I don't wear make-up anyway but I was thinking about microblading once lockdown is over . I have the shittest eyebrows .
Eyebrow serum at night and pencil by day . Might not need the blading ?

DH and I were going on a cruise next month ( Special Occasion) , luckily I didn't buy loads of Cruise Clothes .
But I got all my summer clothes out and washed them and decided I'm going to wear my dresses .
Result .

Passthecake30 · 10/05/2020 22:33

Worse. Hair needs colouring, not wearing any makeup, scruffy clothes, I’m plucked brows. Have put on 4lb or so and it’s settled in my belly and boobs. I’m not gat by any means but I want that gone..

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/05/2020 22:37

I’m keeping up my usual skincare, nails/feet routine, nice clothes and makeup on work days, even though I am at home. I tint my own brows and lashes anyway, but could really do with threading now.

My hair is a blunt Louise Brooks style bob, so I have been reduced to cutting my own fringe. It looks okay, but the rest of it is pretty shaggy, because I usually get it cut every five weeks. I colour it myself with pro stuff from Sally’s, so that’s no different.

I’m getting more sleep since I only have to travel to the kitchen table for work!

WingBingo · 11/05/2020 07:31

I have been running everyday, eating lots of fresh food and getting plenty of sleep.

No makeup for a while and it has made a huge difference to my skin.

DH took this picture of me and I was very surprised

Are you looking better or worse in lockdown?
LoadsaBlusher · 11/05/2020 07:50

I still wear make up / wash and blow dry hair daily

Still get up and dressed daily by 9am in either sports leggings / loose top or jeans and blouse if going shopping

My roots are ok as I’ve been doing them with root touch up kits ( dark brown so quite manageable by myself )

Do my own face waxing so ok there too Grin

I have put on around half a stone though which I’m gutted about , my own fault. Stuck at home with three kids is driving me insane and I’m eating crap during day and turning to wine and snacks at night Sad

Dringomynydd · 11/05/2020 07:51

I went through a worse phase, as I was having a drink daily so got a bit soft and puffy! But I've mostly worked out a ton so I didn't lose muscle tone as I need to be on starting from the bottom again when I get back on the wall (climber). Now I've stopped drinking apart from the odd treat day here and there I've started to slim down a bit again and I'm noticing that I'm actually really toned and more muscly than usual! My skin is pretty good too as I'm not too knackered to be bothered to stick to a (very simple) skincare routine that I know works for me. I've got another 3 weeks of quarantine (Wales) to get proper ripped. Now I can see the very vague hint of six pack I want it so bad!

Snog · 11/05/2020 07:52

Worse.
Fatter, hair out of shape. Skin worse.

I have been walking every day but the effects of this are minor compared to the above.

OneOfTheGrundys · 11/05/2020 08:05

Skin better, fitness better (though still fat!)
Hair worse, and brows.

Koddii · 11/05/2020 08:21

Better, I think. I have lost a few pounds. I am taking better care of my skin. My hair is longer and feels great as it is now all my natural colour. The last of the dye was cut out just before lockdown. I was fed up with my short bob so will be happy to emerge from lockdown with longer hair.

oohnicevase · 11/05/2020 08:27

I look better , I usually have to limit my water intake or else I have to wee loads . So because I'm near the loo all day I've been having endless glasses of water and tea / coffee and my skin is definitely more plumped and younger looking .. not sure how I'll keep it up on the outside though !

Doowop20 · 11/05/2020 08:27

Worse as I usually wear make up and blow dry my hair but haven’t bothered as nowhere to go.

I have lost half a stone though that I have been carrying for five years and that does make a difference.

I am looking forward to buying new clothes too although I feel it’s pointless at the moment.

Toomuchtooyoung01 · 11/05/2020 08:29

Desperately need to get my hair and eyebrows done.

MaybeDoctor · 11/05/2020 08:35

I was looking alright with the extra exercise etc until yesterday when I managed to burn some skin off my face by leaving hair-removing cream on too long! To add insult to injury it didn't even remove all the hair...

olivehater · 11/05/2020 08:38

Skin is better. It’s sensitive so the lack of makeup has helped it recover. Sun has also helped. A light tan works wonders. Also done more skincare. Been using my LED light mask a lot which give my skin a glow.
