Are you looking better or worse in lockdown?

At the start of lockdown I was definitely looking worse! Just generally knackered, wearing tatty clothes and probably a bit fatter😳

But now that we’re about 6 weeks in I definitely think I look better! I’ve stopped wearing make up but have gotten used to the sight of my bare face. Been running and cycling lots so feel quite fit. I mean, I don’t look amazing (I still looo knackeredšŸ˜‚ and I probably should make more effort with my hair etcšŸ˜‚) but on the whole I am surprised I don’t look worse!

Do you feel you look better or worse in lockdown? And is anyone else enjoying looking more natural?

I look less knackered as sleeping more but I feel like a whale. I've put on weight in odd little pockets around my body (as gross as it sounds) and am currently hating myself for it! I cannot stop eating and I'm exhausted from doing nothing. I need an intervention or an epiphany or a bout of food poisoning! My botox will wear off soon and I will look like a hag!Confused

dementedma · 11/05/2020 21:45

Skin better as not wearing make up and have invested in some better products. Weight lost a bit due to walking every day, previously sat at a desk all day. Hair ok as ds trimmed it for me and I'm not fussy about it really. I home dye it so thats still the same. Eating less but drinking too much. On the whole look less stressed and tired.

babbi · 11/05/2020 21:51

@WingBingo. You look stunning šŸ‘ŒšŸ»

kateybeth79 · 11/05/2020 22:05

I've got a great tan but have put on a stone from not going to the gym 😩

WingBingo · 12/05/2020 07:20

Thank you babbi! I am peaking I think.

Never felt beautiful before.

Retailqueenie · 12/05/2020 12:18

Better, I re-discovered the running machine under a pile of clothes and have run 5k per day for 6 weeks and lost nearly a stone šŸ’ƒšŸ’ƒ

Honsandrebels · 12/05/2020 12:57

I look dreadful, acrylics gone, eyelash extensions gone, hair grown out, can’t be bothered to tan, Botox worn off. Probably fatter but too scared to step on the scales! Honest to Christ what did women do without all the maintenance tools we (usually) have these days? I’m only 43! I normally look ok with everything done but take it all away and I’m actually an ancient crone šŸ˜‚

ChrissieKeller61 · 12/05/2020 21:02

I made the mistake of weighing myself on Friday .... 11lb's
It has to go urgently

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/05/2020 21:19

I have a very stupid question about weight gain if anyone can answer? I usually weigh myself once a week, but am now weighing daily. Thus far, despite doing far less exercise, and drinking far more wine, I have maintained my weight. Am I suddenly going to be ten pounds heavier one day? How does it actually work? I definitely feel like my face is rounder.

ChrissieKeller61 · 12/05/2020 21:30

Water.
Go for a good pee and weigh yourself at yet same time once a week. Over 8 weeks you’ll build up an accurate picture

DukeOfEarlGrey · 12/05/2020 21:36

Mixed. Hair and skin are looking much better I think - presumably due to no longer commuting into London every day and so less pollution in the air, can’t think why else they would be. But I have gained weight through lack of movement even though I go out walking/running. I live in a small flat and staying in all day just doesn’t compare to the incidental exercise I used to get. And I am dressing badly as not seeing anyone and don’t really have much casual/lounge wear. My hands are feeling lovely thoughas im using up all old beauty products including lots of hand cream. My nails have also recovered from the last gel manicure - they were all split but now look healthy and strong and I’m going to resist gel nails im future.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/05/2020 21:37

I usually weigh once a week after using the loo, first thing. Because I am not rushing in the mornings, I am now weighing every day. I definitely deserve to have gained, although I am probably snacking less than if I was physically at work.

Redcrayons · 12/05/2020 21:37

Bit fatter
A lot greyer
Too much eyebrow

I haven’t used a hairdryer or straighteners since lockdown started and although I’m not overjoyed at the club, it feels a lot nicer.

My nails look loads better. I removed my own gels in Feb and made a terrible mess. The week after lockdown I was planning on getting them done again, but obviously that was cancelled so I filed them as short as possible and they’re finally started to look ok again.

Shinyletsbebadguys · 12/05/2020 21:43

Honestly it depends on the week for me. I still wear makeup every day but that's because I literally sit on zooms for 8 hours a day and stare at my own face, so it's nice to have something made up to look at. (During boring parts of meetings I debate at new things i can try with makeup and hair ....the other day i tried false lashes....won't be doing that again , it looked like a spider was attacking me or that I had turned into a dodgy pastiche of veronica lake) but I've had some fun trying new things.

My skin has improved despite the makeup as I have more time for my skin care which is lovely.

I've had weeks where I ate more than I should and I put on weight the next week I'm a bit more careful and it goes again. So I have averaged out the same weight.

Some weeks I hide the hair in a pony tail and live in leggings and thick cable socks under the laptop camera with a suitable top, other weeks or days I feel like dressing up for work as if I was going out. It's very much a suit myself situation and I refuse to stress about it.

I'm liking the exercise though , daily walks , bike rides or runs by the sea (Its my usual dig walk I'm not breaking lockdown) have helped my skin mood and muscle so that's good.

Weirdly sleep has got less , can't work that one out really (she says...MNing when I could be asleep Hmm)

stayathomer · 12/05/2020 22:28

Honeybee hugs, I'm like that too, well just over it, was crying about twice a day

Mixed here too, body is better, started doing the Joe wicks workout every second day a few weeks ago, and am making myself eat healthy Monday to friday. Drinking loads of water and wearing spf so skin in good nick. Hair is in bits as am living off any shampoo and conditioner I can find in the house, was planning on getting hair cut before lockdown but didn't, same with eyebrows. Also skin care is running out so will see how that goes!!!

Honeybee85 · 13/05/2020 01:11

@stayathomer 😘

If you want to improve your hair without the use of fancy shampoos/conditioners, use a shampoo brush! I bought one recently and I swear by it. You massage the shampoo with it into your scalp for a few minutes then rinse. Appearently it improves the scalp's blood circulation. My hair has become thicker, shinier and much faster growing after using it a for few weeks.

Pickles89 · 13/05/2020 01:17

About the same. I've never used makeup or done my hair anyway. I'm wearing the same clothes. I've lost 5lbs but the only part where it shows is my boobs! I do need a scale and polish though. And my eyebrows need shaping. But I've reduced my dairy intake which is really helping my skin! I won't say that out loud though or my period will come along and give me a breakout just for fun.

changeagainandagain · 13/05/2020 01:21

For me I'm tanned for once!

But god help my boobs..I haven't worn a bra since february šŸ™ˆ

checkedcloth · 13/05/2020 06:09

I look dreadful. 50 hour weeks in the NHS. I look grey and worn out. I’ve put on weight as I am drinking more and eating lots of convenience foods.

No opportunity to exercise beyond a walk on the weekend.

Weekends are for trying to get the house organised, get food and spend time with DCs

I can’t help but saying it but I am so envious of all these posters that have more time for exercise, being outdoors and facemasks!

Sostenueto · 13/05/2020 06:17

Don't know. I don't spend my life looking into a mirror.

Ardnassa · 13/05/2020 08:06

Better. Same weight but more toned (no commute so more exercise). Drinking more water, eating better, have never slept so well and so consistently well.

The only thing I do by way of external grooming is twice yearly haircuts and eyebrow threading. Keeping the plucking up and my hair (long red wavy BIG) looks mostly the same so far. May do a trim soon.

DukeOfEarlGrey · 13/05/2020 17:25

I haven't worn a bra since february

@changeagainandagain this made me laugh - you won’t be the only one!

PhoneLock · 14/05/2020 08:58

Don't know. I don't spend my life looking into a mirror

A quick glance is all it takes.

AnnaNimmity · 14/05/2020 09:03

More toned as I've been running and yoga-ing every day. A few pounds heavier I think as I'm eating big meals every night with the family and a fair amount of home baked goods. (maybe 4lb - it goes up and down).

I'm lucky I only have a tiny bit of grey in a few strands of hair. But I really do need a hair cut.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 14/05/2020 09:16

Well I'm definitely fatter, or a bit more wobbly having gained 8lbs in lockdown. But I've also invested in fake tan so look much better, have been straightening and styling my hair daily instead of putting it in a messy bun, starting to dress a bit better, and do my nails more often so yeah I'm looking more polished, even if a but chubbier
