I always wear shoes if I am ‘dressed’. On a work day I tend to change into lounge clothes as soon as I get in, then it’s my Uggs, or flip flops if it’s warm. (If we’re not doing anything at the weekend I tend to just knock about in lounge wear.)

KiteflyingKat · 17/04/2020 20:42

Not especially stylish Jigsaw top & Whistles joggers. The joggers are very uncomfortable & go baggy at the knee so definitely not worth the money Grin in my humble opinion

@happytobemrsg
Yes - I do wear shoes around the house. Otherwise my feet get cold.

itssquidstella · 17/04/2020 21:32

@KiteflyingKat they look great though, so the lack of comfort must be worth it!

happytobemrsg · 17/04/2020 21:38

Looks like I’m in the minority 😂😂

Thinking more about the shoe thing, I am either “on”, which is hair washed and blow-dried, nice clothes, makeup, and shoes, or “off”, which is house clothes, hair left to air dry, no makeup, and Uggs/flip flops. Usually my glasses when I am “off”. No middle ground.

My DP is very unlucky, because usually when I am in the house I am in “off” mode - I don’t normally work from home at all (lecturer).

EllaPaella · 17/04/2020 23:33

I don't wear shoes around the house, I wear my Toms slippers or my husbands north face ones which have a rubber sole so ideal for the garden. I also live in slipper socks - I have to have warm feet, can't bear them to be cold.
I walk the dog everyday though so when I post a pic of an outfit it's with the shoes I'll be wearing to walk the dog or to go to work (although change my shoes when I get to work).
Am loving all the outfits. 💕
I think it was @TheOnlyMrsW who bought the FatFace trousers - they look great! So glad you like them.

@Sooverthemill good news about your dd xx

Sooverthemill · 18/04/2020 07:00

@happytobemrsg because I am always at home regardless of current situation I do now wear trainers/shoes/ sandals inside. I started off 8 years ago wearing slippers and it just felt too slobby and I feel now that combined with jogging bottoms/ leggings and dull tops contributed to my depression. I also need decent grip for pushing the wheelchair and although I wear Ugg slippers which have good soles I can't wear them for 20 hours a day!

So I switched over to 'proper' footwear about 5 years ago. But I don't wear 'shoes' apart from my backless loafer type. I feel very guilty at spending money on boots as I leave the house ordinarily maybe twice a month at most ( before corona) so could manage with one pair but I have more. Coats the same, for one daytime trip out for an hour and one evening a month do I need more than one coat? DH would say not!

Also we have dogs and the grub they manage to leave in the floors means footwear inside is kind of essential.

I think everyone is adjusting to the new normal for social distancing and stuff that used to feel normal feels odd. So, you may end up wearing your stilettos at home to cheer yourself up rather than for a night out.

To me the world feels the same except with regard to far more DH than I've become accustomed to, less coffee and harder to get specialist foods! So I'm still wearing my normal stuff which includes shoes.

Sooverthemill · 18/04/2020 07:03

@Ellapaella thank you. It was such a worry.

Anyone seen @dellacucina? She has been quiet recently. Hope all is well

Sooverthemill · 18/04/2020 09:15

Is it raining where you all are? It's warm though so slightly confusing. Trying to persuade animals out this morning was fruitless.

Blouse: mango
Trousers: Baukjen
Sandals: air and grace ( new, very comfy and there was a discount so I took the plunge.)

In my house growing up you always had to leave your shoes at the door. DH’s family was the same so I hunk we’ve just carried it on! I hate cold feet though so I’m always wearing fluffy socks PLUS slippers (I prefer slipper boots but they never seem to last on me).

I saw those sandals @Sooverthemill when I looked on the Air & Grace website for your trainers. They are gorgeous. I have awkward feet - very narrow - so I can’t order online.

Today’s outfit!!

Jumper: Oliver Bonas
Dungarees: Lucy & Yak

Love the dungas happy

EllaPaella · 18/04/2020 10:39

And your sandals soover

Sooverthemill · 18/04/2020 10:45

@happy we didn't have a similar rule. But I was also brought up in a house before fitted carpets became the norm! I'm very old. As long as shoes aren't wet or dirty I don't mind shoes at all. I have to sweep/ hoover daily at least anyway.

I also have narrow feet. They are adjustable and they fit very well. Their returns are sensible period during lockdown. I wanted to support a British brand.

Sooverthemill · 18/04/2020 10:45

@Ellapaella thanks!

Hairydogmummy · 18/04/2020 10:48

So DH (who also loves clothes) has announced he wants to get a leather jacket. I'm really really not sure it's a good idea. He's mid 40s. Isn't it a bit...well not sure what word to use...

Hairydogmummy · 18/04/2020 10:50

Love the trainers on 'air and grace' they have a lovely animal print pair and I love the ones with the metallic bits...way more than I would normally spend though!

Sooverthemill · 18/04/2020 11:04

@Hairydogmummy me too! They were my birthday present and there was a 20% discount. I really like them and I'm trying to buy better and buy less. Failing miserably of course.

My DH bought his leather jacket age 41 and still wears it ( he's about to be 61). From time to time I try to get rid of it but from time to time it comes back into fashion. He loves it and DS has asked if it can be his when DH dies! Have a look at All Saints

OublietteBravo · 18/04/2020 11:39

Good morning! It is grey and drizzly today. Never mind - I’m planning to finish painting the box room. Therefore I’m in old clothes (except for the jumper & boots which I’ll change out of before I start painting).

Jumper: Hush
Jeans: Next
Boots: Celtic & Co

Hairydogmummy · 18/04/2020 12:37

@Sooverthemill I totally agree about trying to buy less of more quality items. I really try but then go in to H and M or somewhere and buy cheap stuff! Must stop!! Today's outfit:
Top from Barbour
Chinos from M and S
Birkenstock's
I need more belts. I dug this one out probably off of an old dress. Where can I get nice belts?

PalacePaper · 18/04/2020 13:23

Cold and rainy here so I've got a thermal top under my sweatshirt dress! I definitely want to get the dress shortened, but it felt cosy and comfortable for today.

My sweaty Betty parcel has arrived!! I think I really like both the bottoms and the hoodie... they are soooo comfortable. The hoodie is cropped which is different for me, DH helpfully suggested I order it in the right size as it's clearly too short Hmm

@happytobemrsg we don't wear shoes in the house, I've usually got my slippers on so I've left them in the photo today Smile unless it's really warm, in which case I wear flip flops

Like the sweat Betty stuff on you @PalacePaper including the cropped jumper.
I'm back in the M&S trousers although may change into jogging bottoms to clean.
The jumper I'm never sure if it's to boxy on me and it's not particularly warm or light enough for summer. It's a TK Max jumper from a brand I've never hear of Tokyo laundry

Hairydogmummy · 18/04/2020 15:35

@PalacePaper love your SB stuff! The hoodie is fab. Lovely colour. It's not too cropped.

Sickoffamilydrama · 18/04/2020 15:44

My Monki order has arrived minus the shorts I wanted only the flowery skirt is staying might get another one in a different pattern especially as they've just emailed me a 20% off.
