Now that the Commonwealth event is nearly over, we have another treat ahead of us. Maxima in Indonesia!

In light of what happened on the previous thread, I'm going to take a leaf out of Elizabeth SMT Holmes' book and say critique the clothes and the styling but not the physical appearances of various royal women.

It's a lovely photo, Kate is very like her.

Carole's eyebrows are very 'now' in that photo. Maybe that's what makes it look quite modern? Most people's 80's eyebrows are pretty non-existent Grin

@Laiste I thought 89s eyebrows were fairly thick? It's the 90s ones that were plucked to oblivion!

Natural eyebrows. You're right.

Mine are naturally barely there - GrinGrin

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/03/2020 16:59

Clearly 2014 was the year brows went batshit! I wonder if coronavirus will result in more natural brows again, given that most people won't be going to salons for a while?

Am hugely excited as it turns out I have Angelina Jolie eyebrows.

LadyEloise · 22/03/2020 17:36

Margaux Hemingway had very strong brows before Cara Delevigne was born.

Wetdogloveshubert · 22/03/2020 19:23

Here is the photo the Royal Family account shared for today. The tailoring on the coats, the gorgeous shoes, and hats are all gorgeous. It's a fun picture too. Happy Mother's day, ladies.

Maxima's many tiaras

Horsemad · 22/03/2020 20:45

Those tiaras are amazing! Max really wears them with panache!

paradyning · 22/03/2020 21:59

Max rocks tiaras

Laiste · 23/03/2020 08:37

Two of my older daughters are in the beauty industry. We were saying yesterday that there sadly already is will be quite a few folks with grown out acrylics/grown out roots/half dropped out eyelash extensions/sad eyebrows asking to come into the salons and to hell with corona.

Those who look unkempt will be held in high regard for once Grin

frugalkitty · 23/03/2020 09:21

I have to say that I had my eyebrows threaded last week so I'll be plucking now to keep the shape (hopefully). Had haircuts too so all of us should be presentable for no-one other than the cats to see us the duration. My friend does our hair and she was still working last week with gloves and mask (she comes to the house).

Laiste · 23/03/2020 11:28

frugal - yes went to DDs salon for my nails last monday. Knowing it would be the last time for weeks. Musing over the colours together - ''what says 'locked down but still groomed' to you, a dusty pink?'' GrinGrin Seems that's the color Kate went for too (tenuous link there to proper thread subject)

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/03/2020 11:43

@frugalkitty Glad I wasn't the only one who risked a trip to the salon then! My eyebrows needed it and I figured it would be the last time I'd be getting it done for a while...

Best not mention this on the coronavirus boards as we'd get slaughtered!

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/03/2020 11:45

There are also these tiny razor things that you can use for your eyebrows if you don't want to pluck.

I have completely pointless eyebrows. The shape isn't bad, but there are about 15 hairs on each side. So they're useless. Dying, tattooing etc not really an option as I have had many bad reactions to any kind of chemicals anywhere near my eyes (to the point that when I was highlighted blonde, any highlights on the front required pinning to ensure they didn't get anywhere near my face and, on one memorable occasion, led to my hairdresser refusing to leave the peroxide on for full amount of time).

I mention all this because I have finally found a day to day application product that actual works to make my eyebrows look better. And it's cheap. Maybelline Tattoo Brow, waterproof gel. Supposedly it works for a few days but I find it needs reapplying daily. But it changed my life (before I started self isolating and stopped wearing make up!).

Maxima's tiaras are suitably dazzling. As I'd expect from her.

frugalkitty · 23/03/2020 15:52

Bling we're self isolating too although my eldest DS has a part time job in a supermarket so he's doing that while we're all well. Gets home, washes his hands and is frogmarched to the shower. DH is working from home so I may have a few more grey hairs by the time this is over Grin

It's Princess Eugenie's birthday today, there were some throwback pics on IG. I'll see if I can find the wedding one, she was a radiant bride.

frugalkitty · 23/03/2020 15:54

Here we go, one beautiful bride in one beautiful tiara!

AppleKatie · 23/03/2020 15:59

I’ve ordered clippers on amazon for DH and DC. I will be rocking the Updo for the duration.

Slightly concerned about my non existent skills with the clippers combined with the fact that DH still had to go to work 🙈

Spudlet · 23/03/2020 16:04

I offered to clipper DH, but he took a look at the dog (who I clip myself) and said no 😐

I’m sulking, and so is ddog.

SenecaFallsRedux · 23/03/2020 16:18

DH and I did not time our last haircuts well. Based on what I see from work video conferencing, we are not the only ones. I'm going to attempt cutting his hair, but I'm declining is offer of learning to cut mine from a YouTube tutorial.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 23/03/2020 16:25

My husband is going to quickly discover that I am as grey as he is!

frugalkitty · 23/03/2020 16:27

I'm hoping to get away with trimming my own fringe. DH and the DSs have all gone a bit shorter than usual and DD has a mane of curly hair so will be the only one if us who won't actually be in need of a haircut.
