Now that the Commonwealth event is nearly over, we have another treat ahead of us. Maxima in Indonesia!

In light of what happened on the previous thread, I'm going to take a leaf out of Elizabeth SMT Holmes' book and say critique the clothes and the styling but not the physical appearances of various royal women.

@itswinetime I'm not sure I'll be able to do it either give I have to work from home AND home school for the foreseeable future!

Love the suit today! And it's M&S which is even better. I was playing around with the idea of a suit for BILs wedding this summer, though that may be cancelled now.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 20/03/2020 22:39

Kate looks fab today, modern and stylish and the length of the jacket and cropped trousers really suit her figure.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 20/03/2020 22:40

Is it true that Beatrice is going ahead with her wedding and only having 2 guests??

Wetdogloveshubert · 20/03/2020 23:06

A slightly cheeky (ahem) view of the trouser suit. It's a lovely colour on Kate.

I wanted to say I'm really sorry about the wedding, @QueenOfTheAndals. Corona can take a flying jump. I hope you can reschedule without too much fuss and expense so you can have the grand event you deserve.

Work is crashing around my ears this week and I don't know how much longer it will stand. Let us hope the National Emergency Trust isn't needed to step in for too many of our loved ones.

I love queen daisy too 👏

And Kate’s trouser suit was great on her she looked amazing!

theschoolonthehill · 21/03/2020 02:16

Kate looked nice today though the trousers were very baggy around the knees. I think it was a strategic move to wear high street clothes, she would be heavily criticised if she appeared in expensive designer clothes given the state of the country.

Feel for all the brides of 2020.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 21/03/2020 06:18

Agreed startup

Dhs cousin is getting married in a couple of months - unlikely to happen now.

She looked great. Suspect that suit would not look good on most people. Like so many m&s items, th4 colour is just slightly off. But she managed to pull it together.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/03/2020 09:11

It's not a colour I'd wear as it wouldn't suit me but it's good on Kate. Further proof (to me at least) that she's an autumn!

Not struck on the colour myself - reminds me of pink blancmange!

SenecaFallsRedux · 21/03/2020 13:24

Thanks for the link to the course @QueenOfTheAndals. I just signed up for it.

I also like Kate's trouser suit even though that is one of my least favorite colors on anyone. But she does look very good in it.

AdaColeman · 21/03/2020 13:49

I like Kate's look in the M&S trouser suit, very neat and business like. Also a good PR move to wear High Street fashion in these uncertain times, all helps to keep the plebs contented.

MotherofPearl · 21/03/2020 23:18

Thanks @mrscampbellblackagain for posting that Anne Glenconner interview with Hadley. Great read.

MotherofPearl · 21/03/2020 23:22

I realise that clothes are unimportant at the best of times, and so I suppose even less important in these far-from-best of times - but I'm afraid I really disliked Kate's salmon pink trouser suit today. All kinds of wrong imo. But great to see them out and about, and supporting frontline services.

mathanxiety · 22/03/2020 00:09

I loved the jacket but not the trousers. They needed a good deal of tailoring. Lovely colour. I think they highlighted the matronly quality of a lot of her other clothes.

theschoolonthehill · 22/03/2020 02:16

True. Its always function over style with Kate.

She had to dress in high street clothes. Perhaps she is sighing that the UK highstreet is M&S and resents Leti getting Massimo Dutti for her version of highstreet.

AppleKatie · 22/03/2020 06:35

I agree re the trousers they looked very odd on her legs- like they didn’t fit her lower leg at all.

Ok colour though, but you would need to be as beautiful and slim as Kate to not look utterly ridiculous in it. Whilst it may be high street it isn’t that easy to copy as a look imo.

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/03/2020 09:29

Some photos of the Cambridges for Mother's Day, including old ones of Diana with W&H and Carole with baby Kate.

Matt Porteous must have shot the photos they used for the Christmas cards, DOC's birthday and Mother's Day during one shoot.

Those are lovely photos Queen George’s card Smile

thisenglishlife · 22/03/2020 10:51

After watching George's Christmas Pudding mixing, I highly doubt he could make a card as good as that!! 😂

LizziesTwin · 22/03/2020 10:51

I've signed up for the course - I've been thinking I should try and do something constructive with the extra time that I'll gain from being stuck at home & that will be fun.

Anyone else?

queenofarles · 22/03/2020 11:28

Wow! Carole looks a bit like The French singer Françoise Hardy in that photo, maybe it’s the haircut ? It doesn’t look like it was taken in the 80s .very pretty .
