Now that the Commonwealth event is nearly over, we have another treat ahead of us. Maxima in Indonesia!

In light of what happened on the previous thread, I'm going to take a leaf out of Elizabeth SMT Holmes' book and say critique the clothes and the styling but not the physical appearances of various royal women.

Poor Bea, presumably yes unless they do bare minimum. If I was her I think I’d see if I can have banns read at Sandringham & just have a tiny wedding with HMQ with a huge exclusion zone around her.

frugalkitty · 18/03/2020 08:01

Well it would give Bea the perfect excuse for a small wedding.....blame the coronavirus instead of Prince Andrew's shenanigans.

BlingLoving · 18/03/2020 10:15

In the absence of dresses, does anyone else find that a bit more feedback from the RF would be nice? I think the Scandis have put out messages etc. I think a video from Charles would be great. And if Camilla was with him we'd have an outfit to look at!? Grin

BlingLoving · 18/03/2020 10:16

Actually, on that note, a lot of people are looking into online events etc. Authors, teachers etc. It might be interesting if the royals could do similar. virtual meetings with some of their charities etc. How many are being impacted by Coronavirus anyway - I'm sure they want to find ways to continue the work?

Whattheother2catsprefer · 18/03/2020 11:06

I can't find it now but I saw a link to an article yesterday that suggested that with the Queen unable to perform duties Anne may step up her appearances. Trust Anne to carry on visiting lighthouses and inspecting sewers!

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/03/2020 11:35

Anne was at the National Equestrian Centre (or something like that) on Monday. But she is close to 70 too so I'm not sure how much longer we'll see her out and about.

Whattheother2catsprefer · 18/03/2020 12:08

@QueenOfTheAndals that was my thought too, I assumed the piece was just lazy journalism but I doubt Anne would think of herself as vulnerable!

pearlypidge · 18/03/2020 12:26

Bling yes I had thought the same - surely the queen/royal family should be putting out some kind of message to their country at a time like this, and I am amazed that they haven't done so yet tbh.

(Unless I've missed it, in which case Blush sorry)

AudacityOfHope · 18/03/2020 12:40

Honestly, I'm here for any fashion they can deliver Smile but I don't want some kind of message of unity from a family that owns multiple isolated residences and the best healthcare money can buy. A family that could sell some jewellery and buy hundreds of ventilators?

No thanks.

FATEdestiny · 18/03/2020 12:59

It is very strange that we've not had a statement of concern from The Queen. She always releases a statement when any commonwealth country is facing hardship.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/03/2020 15:19

Here's a Diana retrospective from Harper's Bazaar to keep everyone's spirits up!

The one-shouldered electric blue number in slide 118 is probably my all-time favourite of her gowns.

The wedding of Beatrice and Eduardo may fall victim to COVID-19, according to
www.theguardian.com/politics/live/2020/mar/18/uk-coronavirus-live-boris-johnson-pmqs-cbi-urges-government-pay-businesses-directly-saying-350bn-loangrant-package-not-enough
this report.

The wedding of the Queen’s granddaughter Princess Beatrice is being reviewed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

It is due to take place on 29 May. Buckingham Palace confirmed to PA that the planned reception in the palace gardens will not take place, in line with government advice, and a private marriage amongst a small group of family and friends was being considered.

This woman can't buy luck.

mathanxiety · 18/03/2020 16:43

The Queen only speaks on any public matter on the advice of her government.

Since her government is at the moment insisting life goes on as normal and that there is no problem with this approach, it is unlikely that she will speak.

pallisers · 18/03/2020 17:16

Some of Diana's outfits were fairly awful. I have no idea how the Emmanuels became popular. Most of her Catherine Walker stuff still looks good though.

FiveTwoFaster · 18/03/2020 17:38

I love that Harpers link - she also did some literal dressing there. A good mix of totally brilliant dresses and some real frights - very enjoyable. The weird gown thing to fashion week! Brilliant.

MotherofPearl · 18/03/2020 19:38

@Boscoismyspiritanimal your dream was a premonition! Poor Beatrice has had to cancel the wedding.

frugalkitty · 18/03/2020 19:52

This was my favourite of Diana's dresses, it's just everything that a princess dress should be (or was to me at the time!).

Laiste · 18/03/2020 20:30

She was so young there.

As i get older, pictures of Diana from back then are more and more distressing to me. In the light of how we know her mental health was being damaged around then. Finding out about Charles and Camilla carrying on their affair. She looks literally childlike in some of the early 80s photos.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/03/2020 20:48

@motherofpearl her and me both Sad

StartupRepair · 18/03/2020 21:02

Oh @QueenOfTheAndals I am sorry to hear that.

FATEdestiny · 18/03/2020 21:09

Oh no, have you had to postpone your wedding Queen? That's rubbish for you.

I saw Prince William doing a piece about a coronavirus support charity the Royal Family are supporting. But still no comment from HM on the subject.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/03/2020 21:19

It's not until August. I'm hoping this will be over by then but you never know!

OP posts:
paradyning · 18/03/2020 21:23

Oh no Queen!

Horsemad · 18/03/2020 21:24

Fingers crossed for August going ahead Queen. 🤞
