Royal style: Max and Wax and whacky hats

Now that the Commonwealth event is nearly over, we have another treat ahead of us. Maxima in Indonesia!

In light of what happened on the previous thread, I'm going to take a leaf out of Elizabeth SMT Holmes' book and say critique the clothes and the styling but not the physical appearances of various royal women.

The Queen’s red & purple dress is straight out of a school production of Camelot!

I quite like the Queen's dress too. A bit different to her usual ensemble.
When DH and I visited Buckingham Palace a few years ago the electric fires were very much in evidence.

Max and Wax in Sumatra. Can't work out what's going on with the hat, but the dress suits her in a Max kind of way. I love the photo of them posing in front of that view - looks like a holiday snap!

I have to say that Wax's beard is possibly the best decision he's made since proposing to Maxima! It really suits him.

I agree about his beard. And I really like Max's darker lipstick in the first photo.

Whoever suggested racing colours re HMQ's dress could be right, I think her colours aren't dissimilar to those!

Wax and David Mitchell are two men who made really really good decisions when they decided to grow beards.

‘Jaunty’ is the word that comes to mind for the Queen.

Oh dear, Letizia is being tested for coronavirus after meeting with a minister earlier in the week who's since tested positive.

And the Norwegian royals are in quarantine. Not sure if it's just precautionary. Mette Marit's health is vulnerable as she has a long term lung condition.

The Queen's racing colours appear to be purple and red with yellow frogging.

Yes, that beard definitely suits Wax. I think it’s really cool that he flies for KLM. Fancy hearing that your King is piloting your plane.

I like HMs dress - it’s fun. Shows a sense of humour I think.

I loved HM's dress. Quite glad to see a few people on here agree with me as when I started reading the responses they were all negative! I think it's fun and colourful. Pockets would be good though!

I love HM's dress! It's something I'd consider wearing myself (approaching my 40s). The colour combination reminded me of the red-purple outfit Meghan wore when she was pregnant.

I'm also in the minority as I quite liked Meghan's toffee dress. [runs and hides]

Zara just wants to be in jodhpurs and hoodies, doesn’t she? I don’t think she has a clue how to dress formally, which is odd given how many of these things she has to attend. Her figure is a bit awkward to dress because of the boobs and hips but not impossible. I think looser, floatier dresses would be better. The button up coats and dresses look awful and very uncomfortable, always high neck, too tight and often shiny fabrics. I imagine her stripping off when she gets home, pulling her tracksuit bottoms on and sighing “ahhhhhh”.
