So excited about my new handbag

I went to my first Aspinal outlet sale in London today.

Whatever you buy is as seen and you can't return it.

I attach a photo of the bag I bought. It wasn't the bag I was hoping to get, but I never thought I'd be able to acquire the one I actually did buy.

What do you all think? It was definitely worth the train/tube/half a mile walk in the absolutely pouring rain because I wasn't sure exactly where the shop was. I'm just sitting here sort of stroking it and deciding when its first outing will be.

So excited about my new handbag

@IloveJudgeJudy have you been to the Icon outlet shop at the o2 in north Greenwich?

There is an Aspinal shop there. All 40-50% off. I can't stay out of there Grin

I know exactly what the point is of paying shit loads of money for items that do the same job for much less...

You could run with this and stop replacing mugs and drink out of old glass jars and carry your phone, keys and wallet around in a carrier bag as they would both adequately do the respective jobs of holding a drink and containing your possessions. Some people enjoy the aesthetic of every day things such as bags, Clothes, shoes, furniture, soft furnishings, jewellery etc and while this may seem ridiculous and unnecessary to some, it bring real joy to others.

My flat is decorated to make me happy with things I love and enjoy. Could I have picked much cheaper lampshades , sofa, picture frames etc - absolutely, but I love the things I have chosen. I rarely have people over as the flat is tiny and I meet friends out and about so the choices I make are not to convey a message to others but to make my home feel beautiful to me.

I need a new everyday winter bag @chocolatesaltyballs22, you’ve made my decision very easy!

catwithflowers · 08/03/2020 14:41

georgialondon. I wish you had t told me that! And I don’t even live anywhere near London but could be making a special trip after reading this thread. I LOVE the Florence. Am so happy for you with your fab bargain OP 😍

*hadn’t

IloveJudgeJudy · 08/03/2020 15:36

@georgialondon No, I haven't been there. I can't for a while now. I need to pay for a couple of holidays, etc

While we're on the subject of holidays DH and I are going to Barcelona soon for a long weekend and I had to buy a Travelon bag and not take any of my lovely bags as they take up too much room in my suitcase. It's ok on a fortnight's holiday but not for hand luggage only 😑. I'm not even taking a lovely purse; I'm just putting my uk currency in one zipped pocket and my euros in another. I'll have to satisfy myself with looking in Harrods as Mulberry are only in North terminal and we're flying from South.

@alsohuman do let me know if you like it, if you end up buying one. So many lovely colours as well.

HermioneWeasley · 08/03/2020 16:14

Beautiful bag, very classy

TheYearOfTheDog · 08/03/2020 16:15

Good article linked upthread. Funny that it took the writer til she was 50 to really treat herself!

@EdithHope im glad i dont have a husband because there is always something more sens8ble to spend the money on. I justified it by borrowing against my own savings from work credit union
So €15 e pw until 2023! Ill pay it off quicker though.

willowpatterns · 08/03/2020 16:30

I want to go handbag shopping now...

Notonmyshift · 08/03/2020 16:59

Lovely bags Ladies.

IloveJudgeJudy · 08/03/2020 17:43

@willowpatterns Do it! But only buy what sparks joy. If you do end up buying a bag or can't make up your mind, please put it on here so we can all participate, albeit vicariously.

I don't know if I mentioned that DM also bought herself a bag. I had almost as much enjoyment helping her to choose as choosing one for myself.

I agree. Do it. I'm glad I bought the one that REALLY called my name. For a while I was looking around for a slightly less expensive one that I loved as much, but the one I got was the one
