So excited about my new handbag

I went to my first Aspinal outlet sale in London today.

Whatever you buy is as seen and you can't return it.

I attach a photo of the bag I bought. It wasn't the bag I was hoping to get, but I never thought I'd be able to acquire the one I actually did buy.

What do you all think? It was definitely worth the train/tube/half a mile walk in the absolutely pouring rain because I wasn't sure exactly where the shop was. I'm just sitting here sort of stroking it and deciding when its first outing will be.

Your link doesn't work @TheYearOfTheDog 🙁

TheYearOfTheDog · 08/03/2020 10:31

I think she's gone now so I'm not saying this to be mean but I would hate to get to nearly sixty and still feel the need to try and make others feel small.

I love the gratuitous bag photos, keep them coming.

IloveJudgeJudy · 08/03/2020 10:32

@TheYearOfTheDog I couldn't see that. It just said page not found for me. I see it was a Loewe bag. I've only just discovered that make so I'll have to investigate 😝.

@chocolatesaltyballs22

I love these, its like bag porn Grin

I want to see more!

IloveJudgeJudy · 08/03/2020 10:33

@chocolatesaltyballs22 what beautiful bags. Thank you so much for putting up those photos. I could look at beautiful bags/photos/websites for hours.

It tells me my photo must be 90 pixels wide and high or something. Coffee first I think.

IloveJudgeJudy · 08/03/2020 10:35

@Ninkanink which two Mayfairs? I just got sent an email. Have you seen the delicious new spring colours?

My beautiful bags make me very happy, and I shall continue letting them spark joy in my life

Same. I've had a really rough couple of years, with various bereavements and disasters, buying a nice bag lifts me.
Life is hard enough as it is- whats wrong with buying something that makes you feel happy?
I dont know why people are so judgy about it- its your money, you can spend it on whatever you want! I think its fuelled by jealousy to be honest. I cant understand why anyone else would care what bag someone else has- it affects their life in no way at all.

unluckyagain · 08/03/2020 10:38

Gorgeous bag OP - I hope she enjoyed her first night out.
And thanks too Choc for the pictures of your bags. I love a handbag thread!

TheYearOfTheDog · 08/03/2020 10:40

wonder if this will work. I love the way it can be pushed in to three shapes. Makes me think of the origami of those paper fortune tellers.

And this is the colour combo I got. I love it. I mentioned that already perhaps.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 08/03/2020 10:42

Wow that's really unusual @TheYearOfTheDog - you don't see many of those around! Love it.

MimiLaRue · 08/03/2020 10:44

I love it @theyearofthedog

Lovely colour too

whatareyoucooking · 08/03/2020 10:45

It's absolutely gorgeous op.

I'm a handbag-whore and have no shame about it. I'm heading to Harrods later to have a mooch around and spot my next victim.

One thing I would say is don't wear it with blue jeans.... I thought maybe a pen had leaked in my white caviar leather Chanel bucket bag 🤬 but it was transfer from my cheap jeans! It's mainly come off now but still has a blue tinge in places

IloveJudgeJudy · 08/03/2020 10:47

@TheYearOfTheDog beautiful. I'm glad you were able to treat yourself.

@chocolatesaltyballs22 It really made me smile that you had a photo of your bag, obviously taken at a function, ready to share.

I use Colonil spray to protect my bags, particularly important if they're a pale colour.

whatareyoucooking · 08/03/2020 10:47

Ha, yearofthedog, your post made me laugh because I often ask for an extra chair at a restaurant (if it's a naice restaurant and there is space) for my handbag. DH is French and he says this is normal there as handbags are NEVER to go on the ground as that's unlucky lol.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 08/03/2020 10:48

@IloveJudgeJudy I bought that one from a friend, and I'm so sad that I took a pic of it you send her to show it on it's first outing!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 08/03/2020 10:51

You all need one of these.

Carpathian2 · 08/03/2020 10:54

I've met my people!
I absolutely love handbags, the design and materials of designer handbags are far superior to the tat that are in high street stores.

Also, they are an investment, just like works of art. Just look at how much the Hermes Birkin sells for second hand. The premium auction houses regularly have handbag sales that raise millions. I have a Christian Dior handbag from about 20 years ago that I don't use, I'm keeping it as a form of insurance as I know I can easily resell it.

It's not about bragging rights, and whoever thinks that has missed the point.

Shutupanddance1 · 08/03/2020 10:55

God that’s a lovely bag Grin Ive never looked at this brand before but it’s making me consider Star

I love bags - I only have a few but they are all ones I bought with the idea of them lasting a lifetime - I saved up for my last LV out of my own ‘allowance’ every month. I bought mine second hand as well and got the hardware replaced by LV.. Delighted as the style has just been discontinued - meaning it should retain some value.

My next bag is also an Alma bb 🙈

MimiLaRue · 08/03/2020 10:56

@Carpathian2

They also last! I've gone though so many high street bags before I started buying high end and the lining always rips, the zips get stuck,- they basically fall apart. High end bags are made of much better quality materials and they last years. Far better to buy one bag that lasts than 10 bags that fall apart.

whataballbag · 08/03/2020 11:01

I bought my first decent handbag on Friday. Only a Ted Baker but I've always had crap cheap ones before.

Currently saving for an LV for my 30th

Ninkanink · 08/03/2020 11:04

I’ve wanted the midi Mayfair in forest green (one of my most favourite colours) for a couple of years now but kept getting distracted by other bags, heh. But I also really like the mini in midnight lizard which is such a dinky little bag and would fill a hole in my wardrobe now that I’m moving away from black for evening bags. So it’s going to be a difficult choice.

I love the spring colours! Sigh...so many beautiful things. 😍😍😍

I can see it @TheYearOfTheDog and that is a beautiful bag, over my budget unfortunately, but I can see why nothing else would have done as a cheaper substitute.
