So excited about my new handbag

I went to my first Aspinal outlet sale in London today.

Whatever you buy is as seen and you can't return it.

I attach a photo of the bag I bought. It wasn't the bag I was hoping to get, but I never thought I'd be able to acquire the one I actually did buy.

What do you all think? It was definitely worth the train/tube/half a mile walk in the absolutely pouring rain because I wasn't sure exactly where the shop was. I'm just sitting here sort of stroking it and deciding when its first outing will be.

Can’t see the photo of the LV, that is, @chocolatesaltyballs22! Please try again?

IloveJudgeJudy · 07/03/2020 17:08

@chocolatesaltyballs22 lovely bag. Does it work well for you?

I'm using the Florence tonight. I'm going to a lovely local bistro. I'm trying to take minimal things in it as it's quite heavy on its own. I've got a brown croc Mayfair large purse in it because the whole family agrees that's the one that goes with the bag best, but that's very heavy on its own 😳.

When I bought my marcie in Harrods (brag 😂) I was staring at it all evening, we were supposed to be getting ready to go out to dinner.

They are a joy!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 07/03/2020 17:20

Yes I love it OP, it's my every day bag sang fits loads in for work. I have smaller ones for if I'm going out.

Enjoy taking your new bag out, make sure it has its own chair!

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 07/03/2020 17:22

Really @ninkanink? Here it is again.

stopthepanic · 07/03/2020 17:32

It's a beautiful brand. Great bargain OP. Now I'm wondering why I didn't know about the sale

stopthepanic · 07/03/2020 17:35

Oh look www.aspinaloflondon.com/outlet

Ninkanink · 07/03/2020 17:41

Ahhh I can see it now! Lovely bag and in my favourite print/colourway😍😍 I’ve decided I’ll probably get the Alma BB for my 45th next year but I do also love the classic LV totes.

Purplecatshopaholic · 07/03/2020 17:46

Beautiful bag op. Enjoy it

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 07/03/2020 18:01

Good choice @Ninkanink. This was my 50th present to myself.

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 07/03/2020 18:20

Lovely bag, and at that price you'd be mad not to! I have nice bags I've had for years and still use - if my daughters haven't stolen them. Same as a nice watch - I've worn my Longines classic watch for about 20 years every day and it still looks new and I still love it. Good value.

FilledSoda · 07/03/2020 18:21

Absolutely gorgeous, and what a bargain !

Notonmyshift · 07/03/2020 18:49

MulberryPeony · 07/03/2020 19:13

Happy new bag.

MimiLaRue · 07/03/2020 19:14

Brilliant! enjoy your lovely new bag OP- I do love a good bag

MimiLaRue · 07/03/2020 19:16

And the people who “don’t see the point” in spending money on handbags can fuck right off and buy a bench instead frankly

I love you.

Redcrayons · 07/03/2020 19:17

It's lovely and what a bargain.

I don't know the brand, but then I don't have fancy handbag money anyway.

It looks quite big. Are you using it as an everyday/work bag?

Squiffy01 · 07/03/2020 19:29

@IloveJudgeJudy I am absolutely gutted! I haven’t heard of that website just been on to sign up and I’ve missed a kate spade sale in December Sad I’ve been waiting years for another kate spade sample Sad

IloveJudgeJudy · 07/03/2020 21:40

Hello everyone. Thank you all for the lovely comments. What a great feelgood thread. Here's Florence on a first night out

Classy.
I know exactly what the point is of paying shit loads of money for items that do just the same job for much much less - it’s to show off your ‘wealth’ and give you feelings of superiority over the mere mortals who either can’t or won’t spend those sums. The same applies whether said item is a bag, pair of shoes, watch or a myriad other things. It’s all about the bragging rights!

Fair play though OP, you kind of got a bargain in a way.

GreyishDays · 07/03/2020 21:43

Hope Florence had a good night out. She’s very lovely.

IloveJudgeJudy · 07/03/2020 21:49

@Soontobe60 that is absolutely not the point. We as a family had to be very frugal when the DC were small. They're grown up now and lead their own lives. We now have some disposable cash as the mortgage is paid. I have found a love for handbags and actually the more expensive handbags I have are lasting longer and looking better with use rather than worse. DM has just bought her first expensive handbag recently and, in the words of Marie kondo or Kate from the Archers, it sparks joy in her. She's sending all her other bags to the charity shop and has just bought a summer bag from Aspinal. So she'll have a winter/everyday bag and a special occasion/summer bag. She's very happy with them both.

It's better than a lot of other 'addictions' 😃. It's harmless and doesn't affect anyone else.

Why are you posting on Style and Beauty @Soontobe60 ?

Go and piss on someone else’s bonfire away from this thread.

IloveJudgeJudy · 07/03/2020 22:13

@Redcrayons where I work you have to put your personal items in a locker and Florence would get wrecked. My everyday bag is a Coach hobo which is flexible enough to be able to endure squashing. In fact, squashing makes the leather more supple. I used to take my Kate Spade to work but the locker was wrecking the handles. Life is too short to only use the good handbags when you go out so I try to use them as much as possible iyswim.

ShirleyPhallus · 07/03/2020 22:17

Honestly @Soontobe60 the snobbery around designer and expensive items is utterly tired and boring. EVERYONE has a vice or a luxury item they like to treat themselves to. Some people buy expensive bikes or nice wine or have their nails done or a nice car or chocolate or holidays or cigarettes. Rarely is there such bloody judgement as when someone spends THEIR OWN MONEY that they have earned themselves and can choose to spend exactly as they like on a handbag.

Why do handbags come under such fire for judgment compared to other treat goods? If someone can afford it then why is it anyone else’s business or judgement?
