Previous thread

What will tomorrow bring for Kate? Does her love for green know no end?

And Thursday night sees the return of Meghan! I know she can be polarising so let's stick to just discussing her clothes rather than the intricacies of Megxit. There's plenty of other threads to do that!

Oh I loved that dress on Kate. The colour was fab and agree the hair was gorgeous. I hate the frills - but I hate all frills. However, I don't mind them on other people - and she is thin enough and tall enough to get away with frills. Like Spud, I am a fan of clean lines so I never wear frills or bows.

I hope they have had a great time here - it was great to see them at Jigsaw, it is a wonderful initiative, started with funding by Declan Ryan, who I believe is Avery smart and caring philanthropist who never seems to get any recognition in Ireland (now, I personally don't know the man and he might be awful but he has done some really useful charity stuff). It has been taken over by the HSE now though so it might crash and burn. I hope not, it really is needed for young people with MH issues.

Annasgirl · 05/03/2020 09:58

a very - not Avery although it is funny seeing as he made his money in Aviation!!!!

ajandjjmum · 05/03/2020 10:05

Meghan will want to draw as much attention to herself as possible imo.

What does this even mean? So if she wears some stunning outfit, looks gorgeous etc that's her "drawing attention to herself"? Honestly, I despair.

She has previous form for getting these types of events right, both pre-and post-Harry so I'm looking forward to seeing what she wears. Is this the one where she turned up while engaged in that fab Armani suit? She looked amazing and it was so much more modern.

theschoolonthehill · 05/03/2020 10:31

Meghan might go understated and wear a trousers suit. Let’s be honest, she looks stunning in all her non pregnancy clothes I.e. she has her own style - so whatever she wears will be ‘show stopping’ —and criticised—

I’ve searched and can’t find anything today about Kate other than they are going to Galway. The Irish media barely mention them. Kate’s hair length is very nice atm. She looks more like the pre engaged Kate, more natural I guess.

Confused

The poster you are quoting is not being critical.

Oh ladies, I have to give you a laugh. I just had an email from the Irish Times advertising to-day's Gloss magazine (a monthly fashion glossy that comes free with the newspaper). The cover story is "How to Wear Green" Grin Grin

frugalkitty · 05/03/2020 10:53

I'd like to see Meghan in the dress she wore for the engagement photos, the one that cost as much as my first house a lot of money. That would be fab to see in motion at a 'do'. I agree, the trouser suit was a brilliant look. I'm another no frills or frou frou person and I much prefer Meghan's streamlined look to Kate's usual frills and fluff and those awful high necklines

SenecaFallsRedux · 05/03/2020 11:38

I do hope Meghan pulls out all the stops. I've missed her style.

Long time lurker here but Galway based here is Kate and William this morning, they are not long after arriving in Galway, they travelled by helicopter from Dublin and were delayed due to fog. Visiting Tribeton a bar/restaurant to meet those involved with Galway 2020 (European Capital of Culture), then going to St Nicholas’ Cathedral and Tigh Coili for some traditional Irish music.
Hope the picture loads!

It's a nicer green dress tag day one but it's still a green dress 🙈🙈🙈

NoGravyForYou · 05/03/2020 12:09

*than

caperplips · 05/03/2020 12:12

Is Kate wearing green just because she's in Ireland? Or does she wear green everyday anyway? Very weird if it's just for the trip and also incredibly condescending - are Irish people supposed to be pleased or grateful or what?

President Higgins doesn't wear red, white and blue every day if visiting the UK.

I think it's really, really weird

Spudlet · 05/03/2020 12:20

I mean, it is a good colour on her. And it’s considerably nicer than the cabbage dress with all the things from day one... 🤷‍♀️

I like it, but it’s just a lot of green! Whereas I can hardly ever find a green dress when I want one (I got my colouring from the Irish side, green is a good colour for me too!)

itswinetime · 05/03/2020 12:26

I think she does wear a fair amount of green anyway the outfit she wore to sports relief was all green and we all know she loves a green coat.

So I'm not sure it's just because she's in Ireland but it does seem a bit ott this is much better than the day one dress though, the addition of a belt definitely gives her a better shape and no frou-frou neckline 👍🏻

theschoolonthehill · 05/03/2020 12:42

What is she wearing on her feet? Shoe boots? Or her long black boots?
I dislike the polka green dress. Its extremely blah. Meghan would pair it with a denim jacket and trainers and make it look cool.

If Kate visits the Netherlands, will she wear orange all the time. I find this way of dressing so weird. Then some of the people who line the streets to see them walking to church in the UK don those little white rounded caps (butcher boy hats?) and wave union jack flags so maybe its her 'thing'?

I can't find a better photo of what Kate is wearing. Her wardrobe is obviously not on the radar of the Irish media :).

mistermagpie · 05/03/2020 12:43

Bloody hell Kate, more green?!

This one is better than the other one but you know, there are other colours! And has she borrowed Camilla's boots?

I'm looking forward to seeing Meghan, apart from the belted dress phase I think she has great personal style and isn't afraid to try something different.

NarniaBanarnia · 05/03/2020 12:50

Can anyone else enlighten me as to why Kate belts everything? It’s a genuine question. Surely a lot of her dresses would just naturally skim her very small waist anyway, it’s not like any extra fabric there was would make her look bulky.

I have no curves, like kate has not (am nowhere near as slim or gorgeous as her but I am waistless) and I find belts a bit annoying as if you have nothing to define they just sort of sit there pointlessly.

Does she think it breaks up her body a bit as she is so tall?

It’s a pet peeve of mine and I would love somebody’s opinion!!

I like the shade of today’s dress but bloody hell the green fixation is just weird now! And oddly patronising if it’s intended for the Irish; I’m sure she doesn’t intend to patronise.

AudacityOfHope · 05/03/2020 12:56

Jesus Christ, green again!? I'm cringing hard for her now. I dislike her literal dressing but this is just stupid. It makes her seek very dim.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/03/2020 12:59

The dress is by Suzannah, a brand that makes some really pretty tea dresses. Kate has worn them before - the white dress to Wimbledon last year and the green one for George's first birthday portrait.

Gooseysgirl · 05/03/2020 13:00

The McQueen trouser suit is one of fav ever looks on Meghan! Can't wait to see what she wears tonight Smile As for Kate... she's just taking the piss with all the green, it's really aggravating me now Hmm (I'm Irish)

mais · 05/03/2020 13:01

Lots of coverage on local media on Facebook - if you want to see videos & pictures.William was showing off his juggling skills earlier. Search for Connacht Tribune - Galway City Tribune, The Galway Advertiser and The Latin Quarter.

BlingLoving · 05/03/2020 13:01

I think her wearing belts is good. It usually creates some shape and contrast on her outfits. The green dress from a few days ago would have been massively improved with a belt, as it was styled b y the designer.

itswinetime · 05/03/2020 13:03

She's wearing black boots similar to Camillas also re wearing a different green coat. There may not of been much buzz about the visit but they seem to have had a good turn out.

Ps who knew William could juggle
