Previous thread

What will tomorrow bring for Kate? Does her love for green know no end?

And Thursday night sees the return of Meghan! I know she can be polarising so let's stick to just discussing her clothes rather than the intricacies of Megxit. There's plenty of other threads to do that!

Although she is Ruth Furney,, Coveney is her husband's family name to clarify.

myrtleWilson · 04/03/2020 21:27

That neckline (and indeed the voluminous/smock/country girl look in general) is available in shops like Urban Outfitters so actually she's very on trend..

pallisers · 04/03/2020 21:29

I remember his dad.

Yes I think it was his wife. Lovely dress (and lovely shoes). It would have looked lovely on the duchess but I suspect she would have worn it with the waist too high up.

StCharlotte · 04/03/2020 21:36

Oh thank you Kate for finally taking my hair advice - especially that lovely pony tail. It knocks years off.

My work here is not remotely done Wink

beanaseireann · 04/03/2020 21:38

Ruth Furney- Coveney looks lovely in the picture with Kate. Her white/ cream lace dress is gorgeous on her. She has a look of Leti about her in Pic 2 of 9 in DM UK showbiz section. Sorry for mentioning DM Blushbut they do good pics.

mathanxiety · 04/03/2020 22:02

myrtleWilson I agree wrt KM being on trend.
I experienced the fashions of the 80s and while much of it wasn't great, there are some elements that are classic and are destined to appear again and again as fashion cycles around.

FiveTwoFaster · 04/03/2020 22:08

I quite like this pink dress with The Neck. And it’s a bit different to her usual, so I appreciate that. She is trying to push her boundaries, one half a degree at a time!

And her hair looks great. I am still in recovery from Day 1 dress.

justasking111 · 04/03/2020 22:14

Love the dress, colour looks fantastic on her, also like the neckline, it is only the bows that I am not keen on.

itswinetime · 04/03/2020 22:34

I agree Kate is on trend a lot of the time...however I think there is more to being truly stylish than just being on trend.

For me someone that is stylish wears clothes that suit and flatter them with a nod to the trend if that makes sense I guess it's that old thing of wearing a trend or having a trend where you...for me Kate tends to have trends were her. I'm not sure if that is because she needs a better stylist or if she doesn't care enough to really play around and experiment or a bit of both.

I think Kate is the most frustrating royal for me fashion wise she is beautiful and seems very engaged when she meets people and is out and about...but fashion wise her outfits just fall short of what the could be for me. She needs to follow the old 'Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.' mantra for me most of the time.

MotherofPearl · 04/03/2020 23:07

I don't have much to add about Kate's outfits today but wanted to express my despair at Camilla wheeling out those black boots again!

@mistermagpie, I agree that either tan, oxblood, or a rich chestnut brown would work better with navy. It's not the black boots in themselves that are the issue - it's welding them to your legs for the duration of winter and wearing them with everything, even when they ruin otherwise good outfits!

itswinetime · 04/03/2020 23:15

Completely agree re Camilla and the boots but I have a string dislike about navy and black.

I did however like this moment which showed Camilla's humour when she joked about self isolating.

theschoolonthehill · 05/03/2020 01:03

I just looked at the photo of Kate in the pink dress again and I really like it including the length. I think it really suits her.

Theowbh · 05/03/2020 01:22

@Inniu Well I did ask a friend who was at the Guinness function last night if Kate actually drank the pint but she was much to discrete to tell me

That’s not a friend that’s just someone who’s a bit weird. Like genuinely, why would you keep that a secret? Hmm

BoucleEponine · 05/03/2020 07:01

Just thinking- these threads are a bit surreal. Imagine posters tearing to shreds commenting on what you wear to work

I know! And they take the high moral ground if someone dares criticise Meghan Markle - let's just stick to tearing apart commenting on a woman's dress sense rather than commenting on the actual person, they'll demand.

MotherofPearl · 05/03/2020 07:19

Well actually @BoucleEponine, I think that most posters on this thread do stick to criticism of the clothes not the person. Thank goodness. That's why so many people enjoy these threads - they feel like a refuge.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 05/03/2020 07:27

I like Kate’s dress.

Camilla has a great sense of humour.

StCharlotte · 05/03/2020 07:38

I do like the pink dress and I like the frilly collar but I think the second frill with the black trim looks weird and superfluous. Leave the over-designing to Joe Browns!

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 05/03/2020 07:50

Those ruffles are very Duran Duran Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/03/2020 07:51

Well quite @motherofpearl, hence my request in pretty much every OP to keep criticism to the clothes rather than the woman. Admittedly I've singled out Meghan in the OP of this particular thread but given recent events is that really surprising?

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 05/03/2020 07:53

Anyway, Meghan will be out at the Endeavour awards tonight. I wasn't too keen on her choice of white shirt and black maxi skirt last year but the McQueen trouser suit the year before was fabulous and such a departure from what people consider "royal wear". I wish she'd repeat it this year, maybe with a different blouse.

OP posts:
MotherofPearl · 05/03/2020 08:04

Ah yes @QueenOfTheAndals, was that that very long black maxi skirt that dragged on the ground (and it was raining?). I remember that. I agree a rewear of the trouser suit would be great, she looked so chic.

Spudlet · 05/03/2020 08:14

I love the colour of the pink dress and the straight cut skirt, and her hair looks great, I do agree that the second frill is a bit much though. I’m never going to be a massive eighties revival fan though, I like clean and simple lines, not lots of frills and pleats and buttons and things. Just a question of personal taste.

hopeishere · 05/03/2020 08:21

Meghan will look fab tonight. She needs to set her "star" status. She obviously struggled with pregnancy and post-partum dressing and changes to to her shape.

BlingLoving · 05/03/2020 09:00

I think Kate's outfit last night was great. The frills are a bit meh but it's a vintage dress so I think she can get away with it. And the colour is very flattering on her.

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 05/03/2020 09:41

My prediction is that Meghan will wear something show stopping. Two fingers to the Daily Mail and all the “haters”. What does she have to lose?
