Royal style: the Duel of the Duchesses

Previous thread

What will tomorrow bring for Kate? Does her love for green know no end?

And Thursday night sees the return of Meghan! I know she can be polarising so let's stick to just discussing her clothes rather than the intricacies of Megxit. There's plenty of other threads to do that!

To whoever was asking about the zip it's still there just less obvious I think

Does she have to try to avoid 'Meghan' clothes now? Will she have an outdoorsy jacket for the outdoorsy place later? I think the other place is pharma related so may need white coats and serious expressions.

Gooseysgirl · 04/03/2020 12:41

Better today, and I think her hair is FABULOUS that length!

BlingLoving · 04/03/2020 12:57

the slightly shorter hair is great. I'd still lop a couple more inches off, but I'll take what I can get.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 04/03/2020 13:10

She has different trousers on in the indoor shots Confused

Spudlet · 04/03/2020 13:14

That bit off her hair is a very good move. ✂️

Interesting theschoolonthehill; I would guess Kate is maybe a size 6, and only as big as that because she’s so tall (don’t really want to speculate too long on any woman’s size so will leave it there). Perhaps that’s where the Thin-Dressing comes in. If you’re that thin, model proportions let’s face it, and you can’t ever dress scruffy or sexy like a model, maybe you always do just end up Looking Thin as there is no way, by draping yourself in normal amounts of fabric and not eg a miniskirt or short-shorts, you can look anything else.

Agree she has no style (not a criticism, just a fact) but I don’t understand why if you have all her resources you might not want to hire some help just to get things a mere notch more interesting.

But I speak as a person for whom the best part of any event is the Deciding For Weeks In Advance What To Wear!

She is certainly always smart and appropriate so perhaps that’s all that really matters (however much it hurts to say it!)

eggandonion · 04/03/2020 13:20

I was wondering about the different trousers!

Inniu · 04/03/2020 13:31

Well I did ask a friend who was at the Guinness function last night if Kate actually drank the pint but she was much to discrete to tell me, so unfortunately I can’t enlighten you all.

Reported that they popped in to a corner shop to pick up a few bits! Hope they remembered to bring Euros.

I like today’s look and last nights.

hopeishere · 04/03/2020 13:40

I don't think they're different trousers. She's got the skinnies on in later shots so it would be mad to be hopping in and out of the loo to keep changing!

itswinetime · 04/03/2020 13:46

I haven't seen any indoor shots that show the trousers enough to think they are different I'd be surprised if she was swapping back and forth everytime she went outside

StCharlotte · 04/03/2020 13:47

Call that a friend?

I imagine her downing it in one and upending the glass on her head. Like she does when she gets home from the school run. The morning school run.

justasking111 · 04/03/2020 14:07

The coat has been reworked to give a sleeker line, was fuller in 2008. I have a friend who reworks her clothes, I envy her skills.

mistermagpie · 04/03/2020 14:14

Bling I totally agree, that monstrous green dress was much improved by the black belt in the photo you posted, I mean, it's still horrible obviously, but it looks much more edgy.

Today is much better Kate! I like the coat, it suits her and her hair looks good. Can't work out what's going on with the changing trousers and footwear thing but her black trousers and blouse are nice, thats the sort of thing I wear to work.

Re. Dressing for her size. I mentioned on the previous thread that I'm a similar height/shape to her. Before I had my recent baby I was a size 6 and when you're tall as well, anything you wear sort of emphasises you being thin. Baggy stuff actually makes you look thinner in a childlike/waify way. Fitted stuff looks better. So I can understand why she wears what she does and I don't think she's dressing to try and look thin. She looks thin because she is thin. Saying that, when you're tall and thin you can get away with a lot fashion-wise and she just never takes advantage of that.

MintyChops · 04/03/2020 14:20

Is she, could she be...... wearing SHAMROCK earrings today? There is a closeup in the Daily Fail and it looks like a shamrock earring. Please tell me I am wrong.

crumpledlinen · 04/03/2020 14:26

It's quite hard to tell. At least they're not green

Royal style: the Duel of the Duchesses
AppleKatie · 04/03/2020 14:40

That’s a shamrock or a trefoil or a fleur de lis so it’s got re wear potential...

beanaseireann · 04/03/2020 15:27

The guy whose shop they popped into is on the radio now - the 'popping in' was organised last week.

latedecember1963 · 04/03/2020 15:44

Much better outfit from Kate today. My DH would approve of William's woolley pulley.

TobyeBella · 04/03/2020 15:44

The blouse must be a rewear and the photos of the cropped trousers and shoes are not from today.

thisenglishlife · 04/03/2020 15:49

Today's outfits are fine, if a bit boring. I think the green jacket is new - if so, she has 3 outdoor green jackets.
The farm black bottoms (leggings or leggings-esque) and top are different to the spotty top and black skinny jeans.
Table tennis! Cute baby cows!
Her hair looks much better shorter and less curly.
The young girl she cooked with has beautiful hair.

The blouse is a rewear the photos I posted with the coat pics were of the last time she wore it like the coat pic.

thisenglishlife · 04/03/2020 15:56

Do you know where the blouse is from?

Green jacket edit, the first Barbour is my favourite (the waxed one with the gold buttons) - I prefer it to today's jacket.

Love the farm photos.
