Previous thread

What will tomorrow bring for Kate? Does her love for green know no end?

And Thursday night sees the return of Meghan! I know she can be polarising so let's stick to just discussing her clothes rather than the intricacies of Megxit. There's plenty of other threads to do that!

We've been a bit spoiled this week but no duchess appearances today! Meghan will be out and about tomorrow, Sunday and Monday, and Kate on Monday.

She looked fab. However, still no reason to want £2m a year plus security of us taxpayers for doing nothing. She has always been the more glamorous of the two duchesses.

whitershadeofpale · 06/03/2020 07:53

I love the dress colour but don’t think it was the right engagement for it. Meghan has an uncomplicated style but I think in order for that to work the fit has to be immaculate, which she doesn’t often get right (even her own wedding dress was badly fitted).

Her makeup usually looks amazing but wasn’t good last night. Too heavy handed with the blusher and the smokiness of the eye makeup emphasised that her eyes are quite close together. She’s beautiful but it’s not very flattering. I agree with the PP above that a side parting suits her more.

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/03/2020 07:58

It was definitely more makeup than she usually wears - that lipstick with a more natural eye or a smoky eye with a nuder lip might have looked better. But maybe it was her security blanket as she must've known the media would've sharpened their knives for her last night.

Interesting article in the DM today......we could write these things for them really Grin

@frugalkitty I think they're reaching a bit with the Erdem monstrosity and the Tory Burch in Bhutan!

OP posts:
Spudlet · 06/03/2020 08:04

Although I did love the Tory Burch in Bhutan. In fact, I liked the majority of her clothes on that tour. I think it was one of her better ones, fashion-wise.

LittleBearPad · 06/03/2020 08:05

Saying ‘copying the Swedish flag’ with the flowery nightmare is a bit much

frugalkitty · 06/03/2020 08:06

Yes, apologies for the per una Erdem pic there, I'm not sure there's any excuse for it to be honest, flag related or not Grin

MotherofPearl · 06/03/2020 08:07

One day when we have a thread meet up, I vote we have a ceremonial burning of The Erdem Monstrosity! Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/03/2020 08:08

Yes that's one of my favourite Kate dresses too @Spudlet and someone I'd actually wear myself.

queenofarles · 06/03/2020 08:34

I didn’t notice the back of Meghans dress, these type of Mouret dresses With visible zipper are sooo dated.

RomaineCalm · 06/03/2020 08:37

I love the Bhutan dress too.

And actually I really like the black dress with silver fern that she wore in New Zealand. I think it was for an evening reception, was totally appropriate and looked lovely.

I saw the DM article Blushand wondered about the use of 'literal dressing'. I'd only even heard that expression used on here.

RomaineCalm · 06/03/2020 08:43

Here you go Spudlet - all from the India/Bhutan tour. There are some of my favourites here too.

Spudlet · 06/03/2020 08:46

Thank you! Many good dresses there. She really suits those vibrant colours, imo.

beanaseireann · 06/03/2020 08:51

I thought Kate looked stunning in the rich blue outfit and the turquoise Catherine Walker outfit she wore at the start of the tour to Pakistan.

I know my taste is very different to other posters on here, we all have such different taste I can't believe people are criticising how Meghan looked and dressed last night, to me she loojed amazing. Smile

BoucleEponine · 06/03/2020 08:53

We try to criticise the clothes and not the wearers on this thread

It's a fine line sometimes. The relentless criticising of Kate's clothes, hair, shoes, make-up, speculating about botox would be downright bitchy if you were talking about Cath from Accounts.

Whattheother2catsprefer · 06/03/2020 09:11

@BoucleEponine you missed the constant comments about her weight and several suggestions yesterday that she is "a bit dim" - hardly comments about the clothes!

allibaby · 06/03/2020 09:14

This thread is so bitchy.... only towards Kate though.

I really hope that poor woman doesn't read these threads as the comments about her and her sense of style are vile.

Someone commented that Kate looked a fright in her Green dress a few days ago and not one person said anything about that comment but a few threads back someone said Meghan looked a fright and was jumped on by many posters for that comment (rightly so).

I think it is one thing to critique an item of clothing but on these threads when it comes to Kate it doesn't stop there and instead decends into tearing her to shreds and comparing her to Meghan.

They are two very different and gorgeous women with two very different styles and two very different roles so I'm not sure why they have to be compared to each other.

So many hypocrites.

lynsey91 · 06/03/2020 09:17

@ashtyler sorry I took your comment the wrong way. I am (sadly) so used to seeing nasty comments about Harry and Meghan and lately how unhappy he looks that I thought you meant it!

They both looked very happy didn't they. Of course the haters are quick to say she is an actress but that looked genuine to me and Harry, I think, shows his true feelings on his face

CaptainBrickbeard · 06/03/2020 09:19

I’m an avid lurker on these threads with very little to contribute but I am absolutely obsessed with Meghan’s turquoise dress. I love that colour and I know someone said that style with the exposed zip is dated but I personally have not let it go and quite probably never will! However, I did once wear a dress that style and did an awkward manoeuvre to slide out of a car and the zip split the whole way from top to bottom so it doesn’t come without a certain level of peril. I’ve spent this morning searching for knock-off versions of it as I think the dress itself is sold out. I might look like cabin crew or a bank employee if I find anything similar but honestly I don’t care! Im a blonde hourglass so colour and shape wise it’s basically my dream dress.

LadyBundleBrent · 06/03/2020 09:23

De-lurking to say that imo Meghan's look last night wasn't for me..I didn't like the lip colour, middle parting or dress (colour, fit or style). I'm a side apple shape too (not as slender as Meghan sadly). I doubt it's a pregnancy. It's just that we have rounded tums no matter what we do or how slim we are!

I think she is beautiful, and I LOVE the look in boucle's photo.

Those dresses with sashes/belts that she wore for a time post pregnancy don't do much for figures like ours either.

drina27 · 06/03/2020 09:30

@BoucleEponine you missed the constant comments about her weight and several suggestions yesterday that she is "a bit dim" - hardly comments about the clothes!

Good Lord. Kate “a bit dim”? Well well, that’s what a degree from St Andrews get for you - in that charming poster’s febrile imagination. 🙄

drina27 · 06/03/2020 09:33

gets

hopeishere · 06/03/2020 09:34

I think getting the line between criticism of the clothes and the woman is hard.

For example looking at those pics of Kate I think a lot of those outfits would look better if she was a tiny bit bigger. She's no waist and that makes a lot of stuff sort of just hang on her.

Similarly Meghan's dress needed fitted it was weird around the waist. Interesting comment about it being borrowed though!
