Royal style: the Duel of the Duchesses

Previous thread

What will tomorrow bring for Kate? Does her love for green know no end?

And Thursday night sees the return of Meghan! I know she can be polarising so let's stick to just discussing her clothes rather than the intricacies of Megxit. There's plenty of other threads to do that!

DM comments at the bottom of the Meghan article tonight:

Greasy pole climber,
ugly hyena,
looks demonic/drunk,
vile creature, looks maniacal,
she looks scary - the predatory eyes and manic grin,
vapid narcissist twit,
she is so creepy,
smug,
shameless strumpet,
ho,
vile and classless,
how hard faced can you get(?),
pathetic and a bit evil,
frighteningly manic

Meghan looks like the filthy cat that got the cream. Really sick of the sight of this idiot.

Go back home you hypocritical cow.

Wtf is that doing in our country ... she called our RF toxic.

Shock

What sort of filthy rag would see fit to publish those comments?

theschoolonthehill · 05/03/2020 23:02

The comments posted are disgusting and really those saying
'go back home'
'what is that doing in our country'

says everything about the racist mentality of the people writing them.

I'm glad for her sake that they made the decision to leave. It is incredibly damaging to live in such an environment let alone raise a child in it.

justasking111 · 05/03/2020 23:03

When you look at these toxic comments many if not most are coming from across the pond. Many from other overseas countries. The media especially the DM lap it up for clicks. Many articles are monitored for content but not when it comes to MM and Harry.

On the other hand the comments are moderated in advance when it comes to other royals like Sheikhs. Stinks doesn`t it.

"Billionaire Dubai ruler Sheikh Al Maktoum ordered the kidnap and torture of his two runaway daughters and conducted a campaign of terror against his wife Princess Haya after she slept with one of her bodyguards, court finds"

TheWordmeister · 05/03/2020 23:04

Meghan looked lovely tonight, loved the dress, shoes and bag. She is very chic.

I'm not so sure. There is a long running thread on MN currently named 'Meghan and Harry - what will they do next'. The thread is in overdrive today with stomach turning comments about Meghan. I read a few and left as the comments are absolutely vile. It is a complete cesspit.

I love looking at her clothes and style.

AdaColeman · 05/03/2020 23:49

She also had a Guinness. I think Kate’s finished at 3.

Years ago Guinness had an advertising campaign that promised “A baby in every bottle!”

AdaColeman · 05/03/2020 23:56

That’s a wonderful photograph of Meg & Harry in the rain!

mathanxiety · 05/03/2020 23:56

My granny was advised by her doctor that a glass of Guinness a day would result in a bonny baby. It has a little iron in it. Granny had eleven bonny babies Smile

An OK dress (if a little corporate uniform) but I wish Meghan would have things tailored to fit her body shape

  • the neck was too high and rubbing against her throat - the dress would have been fab with a v-neck or lower scoop neck.
  • a knock on effect of the too high neck and plain cut bodice was that in the full frontal shots it made her bust look lower/saggy (which I don't think it really is - its the optical effect of the neckline sitting strangely)
  • these types of dresses are hard to wear off the rack if - like Meghan (and me) you are short waisted. You end up with the odd folds of extra fabric at the waistline that cause ridges - like Meghan had tonight - unless you get it tailored.
  • she other issue was the skirt length - it looked OK at the front but at the back it looked odd with the walking slit sitting uncomfortably below the knee - it looked as though the skirt should be shorter to fit her frame better
  • also the zip did not sit well at the back because of the too long bodice issue

So it is a pity that Meghan doesn't spend a little to get the perfect fit. If she can fly in a MUA from the US to get the make up she wants - surely a seamstress would cost a fraction. Of course it may be that the rumour that she returns the dresses is true so she cannot alter them.

I think the more made up look is her way of saying she isn't doing things the RF way any more, and good for her.

I don't like the colour of the dress - navy would have been much nicer. The colour is also more daytime or summer than dark rainy evening in early spring.

unluckyagain · 06/03/2020 05:39

I thought she looked absolutely amazing. Gorgeous dress in a stunning colour. Perfect makeup, lovely figure.

But there's something different - has she done something to her teeth?

BoucleEponine · 06/03/2020 05:56

I've wondered for a long time how the DM gets away with encouraging the venomous readers' comments. Mind you, MNHQ have allowed vile comments and speculation about MM for months now - I've reported many posts but they seem to see her as fair game.

I think Meghan looks gorgeous with a side parting like in this photo - more flattering than the severe scraped back ponytail.
What is s MUA?

Habibtihayati · 06/03/2020 06:12

@BoucleEponine Make Up Artist

Meghan looks great, though I also think the dress wasn't quite right for dark, stormy evening - more of a summer's day at Wimbledon. I really miss her style - she wears things I would aspire to unlike Catherine and her eighties monstrosities!

BoucleEponine · 06/03/2020 06:28

Thanks, Habibtihayati Did she really fly her MUA in front New York?

BoucleEponine · 06/03/2020 06:29

From, not front. I hate typing on this bloody tablet!

hopeishere · 06/03/2020 07:14

According to his insta account he's in London so people are assuming he was thee to do her make up.

I think she's had a wee bit of filler if you look at her right eye it's a wee bit cat like which is a sign Wink

youngestisapsycho · 06/03/2020 07:19

They have a video of last night on their Sussexroyal instagram..... some of the comments on there are disgusting! I don’t blame them for leaving!

beanaseireann · 06/03/2020 07:25

I agree Meghan looks different and also thought it might be her teeth.
She had a real Carolyn Bessette Kennedy vibe.

That photo in the rain was amazing. Like an ad for an upmarket perfume.

ashtyler · 06/03/2020 07:32

As for the poster who said Harry looks miserable nowadays - did you look at the photo you posted? He was smiling for goodness sake

@lynsey91 I was joking, sorry I should have made that more clear. He looks much happier these days.

StCharlotte · 06/03/2020 07:34

Judging by the back of the dress she's clearly a fan of The Split Wink

We try to criticise the clothes and not the wearers on this thread. Smile

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/03/2020 07:45

@StCharlotte I thought that too! Love the clothes in that!

LittleBearPad · 06/03/2020 07:46

Well then - the dress is overly corporate and as pointed out elsewhere would be better suited to a Barclays banking hall.
