Thank you x
He said he "felt stupid" having to ask for help...🙄. I pointed out that if he was in. Class he would ask questions so what's the issue?
He us finding remote learning tricky I think. He needs face to face time with this teachers which none of them are doing.
It's the worst grade he's ever had so it's shocked him.
But...he DIDN'T DO WHAT HE WAS ASKED TO DO!
Grrr. I'm SO cross with him.
And dh can fuck off.

SOTD Diptyque Philosykos. Is anyone in the group sending kids into school on 1 June? I have read the guidance and really hope it doesn't apply here in Scotland - staff are going to be cannon fodder. (I teach over 18s, so we don't even have the argument of kids not catching it.)

Well.
The guidelines are bollocks aren't they?
Ds2 is y6 and desperately needs to be back tbh (they noth do..) BUT not at the cost of teaching staff!
So difficult.
I'm a keyworker so - technically - ds2 could go in. He's begged me but I've said no.
So hard to know what to do for the best :(

I’m sending my Y1 in as soon as I possibly can and hoping the others won’t have to wait too long. We are not in anything resembling a hot spot though.

The guidelines are utter tripe. Boris doesn't even answer the questions properly. Just goes off at a complete tangent.
I have my GCSE child doing online monitered exams for the next two weeks instead of Gcse's. Very academic school which will use the results to grade them. They need v. High grades to get into sixth form. So DH has been bawling down the phone to China while she is trying to do her exam 🤦🏼‍♂️🙄.
She even put a notice on her door to tell us when to be quiet. It's not as if she can even wear earphones as she is being 'watched'.
Meanwhile I have to try & get her twin brother out of bed for his first lesson... Quietly ( which often involves fury - on both sides ).

The whole thing is a shit-show. I can't understand why we are supposed to cover our faces and keep 2M apart in the supermarket for 30 minutes once a week, but it's fine for teaching staff to spend seven hours a day, five days a week, with no real precautions beyond "wash your hands" - we've come full circle. I would be shocked if there wasn't a huge spike in cases again, then on and on we go.

I have a Y1 child, Judy, and I won't be sending her in on 1 June. Am in a very privileged position to be able to make that decision though :-/

SOTD is Shalimar again. It wears beautifully and so easily.

Really on the basis that things were considered too dangerous in mid-March, and at that point we had far fewer cases. We have so many cases now that I think there is an even high risk we would catch it, either on the bus to school or at school via DD1. It would also mean we could no longer see my mum, who is clinically vulnerable, and she is a major support for me as I am a single parent. Also, quite apart from that, I think coronavirus is a statistically big and alarming risk for any entirely single parent, and I don't see that the governenment has done anything effective to mitigate the risks (for example, no contact tracing or even any tracing of people who may have had or currently have coronavirus, flights were never stopped, people were never quarantined on entry to the country -- French people still won't be, illogically).

Fab reviews foodie, yoikes and kali, that Jovoy one sounds very interesting yoikes but if you like it then I probably won't! Grin I do love White Musk though, I fell in love with something similar, Armani White, but it's discontinued so perhaps I should give WM another go, it's years since I smelt it! Foodie, sounds like you have a stressful job at the moment, hope things calm down soon!

Re school, I haven't decided yet. I have a YR and a Y2. The YR is the only one that could go back and it depends for me on what the plan actually is for our school. She's massively unsettled as it is at the moment, bad dreams, scared of her own shadow etc and I think to send her in to something very different might do her more harm than good at this stage, especially when her brother won't be nearby. Then there's the logistics of taking one but not the other and seeing him upset because she can go and he can't.

I'm not actually too worried from an infection point of view. At the moment children seem to be at very low risk of being severely, or even moderately affected, and I don't think that we as a family would pose too much of a risk to school staff (both me and DH are at home full-time at the moment) but I'm leaning towards keeping both at home until a more normal return can be had.

Gin and Cake for all.

I have an offer of a place for my challenging child (as a key worker), but they are asthmatic, and have been hospitalised several times with ordinary respiratory viruses, so have not taken up so far.

Mother you are right - would be an absolute disaster to be hospitalised as a single parent. And as an oldster, the death rate following infection is currently estimated at 0.5-1%, which is non-trivial. Worth playing a long game, if only in the hope treatment improves?

On to cheerier stuff; I enjoyed the stroll down Memory Lane with Kali and the White Musk (but am reminded that the smell men really love, at least according to Tania Sanchez, is...bacon).

Tough (and cold) times, so have gravitated to the amber samples box. Thank you to the Lovely Perfumista who sent me the HdP 1740 - think this is a really magnificent scent, rich, lush and sensual. (Sort of Absolute Amber crossed with Le Participe Passe). I rarely hanker after full bottles, but this is on my list!

I enjoyed the review kali dont think I’ve smelt white musk in decades. My best friends mum used to wear it, just thinking about brings back memories.

Sounds like a bit of a shout was in order yoikes , greater good and all that.

I’m in a funk, work crazy and relying on DH to cook resulting in a tea of 5spice duck breast, cold bare spaghetti then a bowl of raw chopped veg I accused him of producing simply to show veg was overrated or that he couldn’t be trusted to cook. He took it on the chin.

SOTD, just now is the delicious warm lemon cypress embrace of Sugi.

You could buy nice stuff with your babysitting/pt job money with no problem...
You have to remortgage to shop at lush these days! £7.95 for a bath bomb? Shock

Morning! SOTD Tauer Incense Extreme. I was saving this and so excited but I’m really sad to say it doesn’t do it for me. The coriander dominates and is plasticky and bitter, and I really have to sniff my skin hard to get any incense. It also stung when I put it on which never happens. Damn you skin chemistry!

My morning began with a very passive aggressive message from a member of a Board I'm chair of...

Apparently, it's my job to tell her when meetings are!...well, who knew? I'm now her PA it seems!

(A very clipped reply have been sent!)

Of course, if she checked her e mails occasionally.....? Ffs.

I'm off to re watch game of thrones. Honestly, in my current mood I'd make Cersei Lannister look like Me Bean...☠
