DS is Year 10, a tech geek and actually pretty good at getting online for his lessons... but forget about him doing any work outside of that. I know when he is sacking off homework for watching YouTube when he is staring at his screen and looking just a BIT too intent and focussed. Which is pretty much most of the time.

DD is Year 6 and bouncing off the walls. I’ve given up on ‘lessons’ this afternoon and sent her in to the kitchen to bake (which she’s pretty great at) so I can do a Zoom meeting in a bit.

The novelty of working from home is really wearing off. I just want to put some make up on and get on a bus to work. Never thought I’d feel this way 🤪.

At least there’ll be DD’s Victoria sponge to eat later

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 04/05/2020 20:14

SOTD Diptyque Philosykos for a busy day of teaching from the kitchen table. I am SO OVER IT. The lockdown is apparently being extended here, no lifting of any restrictions.

Judy everytime i get frustrated with the way my kids are having to do school i think of the other side. I know how hard you and other secnodary school teachers are working. Lots of love x

MrsPerks · 04/05/2020 20:41

Day 4 finally up - sorry, busy day.

yoikes · 04/05/2020 20:59

Lovely review Smile

Boglins · 04/05/2020 23:25

Loving the May reviews Grin I've uploaded mine for tomorrow as I'm likely to have an early start and a busy day so wanted to get it done in advance.

Homeschooling is not going well here, two primary aged children who just want to be back in class with their friends and their lovely, much appreciated, teachers/TAs.

KaliforniaDreamz · 05/05/2020 11:29

Mrs lovley review and i went off to read yor link. I love falling into these rabbit holes.
Boglins that sonds right up my street i need comfort these days and it's like a bell rings each time i read the words tonka bean.
My primary school kid told me he can't wait to go back to school and i spied a letter he had written to his teacher essentially declaring his utter devotion to her!! Cute.
Hold tight everyone we can get through this x

yoikes · 05/05/2020 11:31

Milk musk sounds nice boglins!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/05/2020 12:02

SOTD JHAG Mad Madame. I've written my calendar for tomorrow, but it turned into more of a story about a perfume's moment in my life than a review. (I used to write a blog, so have a tendency for waffle.) Sorry if it's boring, but I am too lazy and self-indulgent to go back to it now. I will include a cat pic for balance.

Cat pics always welcome!

Does anyone want to enable my spending? I really fancy a new discovery box, but the Perfume Society ones aren't grabbing me particularly. Ideally it would be not from a single perfumer, but a mix of different companies (like the PS boxes). At the moment, I'm mostly liking perfumes which claim to be unisex, but really aren't, like Scherzo. If no-one else is doing mixed discovery sets, please recommend a single-house set. I really want the Tauer set, but you can't get it in the UK.
Alternatively, if anyone can decant and fancies making me a discovery box, purely for educational purposes, I'm happy to pay.

AvoidingTheWineAisle · 05/05/2020 17:28

Afternoon all.

Milk musk does sound nice!

SOTD Lancôme Nuit Tresor Nude. Smells like a coconuy t milkshake. It’s a newish fragrance and has the slightly syrupy Tresor DNA, but a lighter interpretation.

Flora, what sort of thing do you like? I have quite a few samples I’d be happy to send to a happy home (no charge) but I don’t have sophisticated tastes Grin, so depends what notes you like, perfume houses you like etc.
I’ll also have to check my local post office is open!

yoikes · 05/05/2020 17:49

No takers yet for clesn reserve warm cotton...

Someone please have it! I won't wear it.

Sotd sueded oud

PearsMorgan · 05/05/2020 19:09

Watching for replies to Flora...I have a desire for new stuff but none of the PS selections grab me either. I’d like a selection from a classic house rather than more niche stuff.

SOTD iso e super.

Calmasasleepycat · 05/05/2020 23:27

Flora, Les Senteurs will post samples. They are mostly £3.50 each with free p&p. Bloom Perfumery have interesting themed sample sets and charge £2.70 p&p. Sam from iscentyouaday (she comes on here sometimes) has just updated an article on how to get samples. I bought some samples from Francis Kurkdjian a while ago. They are 14 euros for 4, but can’t remember if I paid p&p.

1frenchfoodie · 06/05/2020 06:28

Flora , you already have some great tips from Calm for samples. I also really like Nose.fr where you can order their 500 perfumes as samples for €3. You can do as a discovery process - letting them know what perfumes you like and leaving them to choose (service is €10 for 5 samples and comes with €10 off a future order). You can do it multiple times, in theory with the site refining as you rate previous samples.

yoikes · 06/05/2020 10:42

Well, I've ordered 10mls of mocha muscari by prosody...
I'm trying so hard to be good!

FloraMacDonald · 06/05/2020 11:34

Thanks. I did see I Scent You's blog post, but I didn't read it properly. I'll look at it again.
I tried Replica Music Festival today. Not sure what I was expecting (eau de portaloo?) but I definitely wasn't expecting to smell like weed all day. I may have to wash this off!

KaliforniaDreamz · 06/05/2020 13:54

Jeez i'd kill for a smoke lol

SOTD LDR

MrsPerks · 07/05/2020 00:03

Have just caught up with your entries, Boglins and Judy - really enjoyed both. Judy - just as well you had those tickets?

Yoikes - how did your Zoom talk go?

Flora - have been eyeing up the Histoires de Parfums samples set. Reasonably priced but the postage is a bit eyewatering.

Anyone heard from Floof (or have I missed a name change?)?

1frenchfoodie · 07/05/2020 00:22

Thanks for the histoires de parfums recommendation MrsPerks , I loove prolixe but don’t know the house very well, tempting..

yoikes · 07/05/2020 08:44

Morning all
Zoom talk went ok....maybe too well...They've asked me back in a couple of weeks! 😲
I've lost 5lbs so far on my diet which is pleasing - long way to go though 😖
Sotd will be choco musk

PearsMorgan · 07/05/2020 09:37

Well done Yoikes on your self restraint. I’ve put on more than a kilo in lockdown. I ordered a few samples off les Senteurs and to balance it out I’m now eyeing a molecule 03 clone on amazon. Today’s review is now up.

FloraMacDonald · 07/05/2020 13:19

Well done yoikes for the call & the weight loss!
Thanks for all the recommendations. Lots of good suggestions, but I'm probably going to go for the Bloom roots set. I hadn't heard of Bloom previously, so thanks Calm.
MB Recharge Black Pepper this morning, which was lovely, but has now disappeared.

yoikes · 07/05/2020 13:46

Sotd is actually 4160 fluffy lemon top as I was a bit..er...glowy...after my walk and yoga :)

I really do lile this one.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/05/2020 15:41

SOTD Heeley Sel Marin. Lovely day here (bare legs!) but set to drop back to single figures next week.

mrsP yes indeed!

yoikes you deserve a round of applause for losing weight. I feel like all I do is eat and drink wine. I'm maintaining for now, but between my excess calories and lack of exercise I don't deserve to be. Usually I do about 18,000 steps on work days, now I am lucky to make 10,000. I think nervous energy must be playing a part.
