That's the 10ml bottle Yoikes - the big ones had a gold top and gold print I think - but same heart-shaped bottle. (Looks relatively hard to manufacture?).

teta · 24/04/2020 20:44

@Yoikes I hope you will soon have some resolution to this issue. It may not be the one you want, but at least you will know where you are. And hopefully be able to decide what to do next.
@MrsPerks I used to be addicted to In Love Again - it was the most perfect perfume. But then the black currant started smelling funky ...
I think it was the Menopause effect. I wonder now I’m on Hrt would it smell good again - hmm.
@MotherOfDragonite, your perfume today sounds so delicious.

yoikes · 24/04/2020 21:01

teta I doubt very much it will be the resolution I want but I'm glad I got the chance to have my say.

The chair did point out (fairly) that the chat re: paid role was an informal discussion.

However, I pointed out that being ignored is not acceptable formally or informally.

I may have pointed out that "when it comes time to replace me" they will not get anyone to do what I do for free Grin

I'm still utterly baffled that the treasurer (who I know quite well) didn't know what I did. Meh. She knows now Smile

I've already made some changes - I will be having 1 week a month off - and I'm going to ask volunteers to do more.

I'm also going to start claiming my petrol mileage which i have not done for 2 years.

So. I'll see what happens and decide accordingly. That may mean stepping back and letting the paid staff take over.

Bottom line : as long as the group continues it's irrelevant whether I'm involved or not.

yoikes · 24/04/2020 21:02

Sote clean reserve suede oud
Very nice. Woody, smooth and (I think) unisex

Calmasasleepycat · 24/04/2020 21:24

I have a 2014 version of In Love Again. It’s just as I remember it from the 1970s. Here is a photo of my bottle, very similar to the original version except for the bottle cap. The original version had an enamelled cap. (Sorry for the sideways photo - I don’t seem to be able to change it.) Loved your review, MrsP! I particularly appreciate the sharpness of the tomato leaves and blackcurrant in this perfume. I haven’t tried the modern version.

Count me in for the new calendar, MrsP. I’ve loved reading all the reviews.

Calmasasleepycat · 24/04/2020 21:33

teta Calyx sounds very enticing and it was so interesting to read about your memories of it.

My SOTD was Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur. It is a spicy musk and I was enjoying it very much until DH said he could smell furniture polish!

MrsPerks · 24/04/2020 21:50

I think 2014 was the latest, Calm? A special edition, twice over.

Funnily enough, I did use to wear Bazar which strikes me from memory as a slightly trippy and unbalanced first cousin, with a more bitter and vegetal quality. (Need to find my bottle and sniff again).

Don't know what they put in the Aldi No.35 but the rose note is nuclear. Still present after two showers.

yoikes · 24/04/2020 22:02

Our scent!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/04/2020 22:42

SOTD was NRFH, but I had another shower after finishing work to wash the week off, and SOTE is Diptyque Eau Duelle.

Interesting Yoikes! Couldn't see any reviews on Fragrantica, but 'fruity, sweet and aquatic' is ringing slight alarm bells Grin. I see Bond No.9 do Perfumista Avenue, but reviews are mixed. Perhaps we'll have to see if we can negotiate a 4160 Tuesday collaboration one day...!

yoikes · 25/04/2020 09:00

Yeah...not my cup of tea! :)
Sotd will be sueded oud again
I'm not going to wtite any more anout it as I may choose it as a May calendar review scent :)

Boglins · 25/04/2020 09:12

Morning all, my last calendar entry is done, I've thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this and will happily do another, it's made the last month go that little bit more quickly! I've loved opening the calendar each day, you are all so eloquent and knowledgeable and it's been an absolute pleasure to read all your entries so thanks everyone and MrsP for organising xx

Boglins · 25/04/2020 09:15

I didn't go for the perfume society box in the end as yoikes you are my perfume opposite so I didn't think I'd like enough of them! Will be open to other boxes though if anyone sees anything interesting. Will there be another Harvey Nicks box, does anyone know?

yoikes · 25/04/2020 09:19

Ah....
We were perfume evil twins!!!!Grin

yoikes · 25/04/2020 09:20

Gorgeous review boglins

PearsMorgan · 25/04/2020 09:29

Morning all. Lounging around in bed reading the caldendar after a surprisingly busy week. Intrigued by Calyx and Aromatics white. SOTD recently has either been Ffern spring or Tea Tonique which is my summer go-to. I think I need to buy some more perfume.

MrsPerks · 25/04/2020 09:57

Oh, I loved joining you on that rooftop for a moment or two, Boglins. If the sun comes out here today you will have inspired me to dig out what remains of my Swalley Blank.

It sounds like lots of us have enjoyed the calendar and are up for another in May? My suggestion would be that we all keep our current 'dates' and roll them across onto a new calendar, unless anyone has had enough - in which case, not a problem, just PM me and we can redistribute your dates. How does that sound?

MrsPerks · 25/04/2020 10:01

Yes, that sounds right Pears! Grin It is such a tonic. Have just treated myself to a tiny sample of Le Parfum de Therese - to satisfy long-term curiosity.

teta · 25/04/2020 10:12

Yes, the calender is fun - please can we keep it going. Even though I had a couple of days when I was too exhausted from work to think straight and write a decent entry.
Aqua Viva by Profumum Roma was Sotd yesterday. It's just the most beautiful photo realistic lemon ever, backed up by Laburnum & cypress. I have a bottle of Eau d Hadrien which has been a favourite for years. However it doesn't smell like it used to - but Aqua Viva does.
@1frenchfoodie you mentioned an unusual woody fresh scent you wore recently that sounded lovely. I think it was in some sort of exclusive range. I can't find it on the calender so it must have been in one of your posts.

Boglins · 25/04/2020 10:41

Haha yes yoikes, evil perfume twins, that's it!! Grin

Ah MrsP, I loved my brief trip to Spain as well! One day...

There is a new Perfume Society box up, launches we love or something, I've ordered it, some intriguing ones in there, primarily Molton Brown Milk Musk which sounds right up my street!

yoikes · 25/04/2020 11:17

Great!
I'll put my dates in my diary :)

1frenchfoodie · 25/04/2020 11:53

Hi teta I think the scent was Monocle’s Comme des Garçons collaboration ‘sugi’. It smells like sugi wood apparently but having never smelt that I’d describe as lemon cypress scent with a gorgeous freshness yet depth. Fragrantica notes and mainly positive reviews capture it well. I have samples of two of the other collaborations, hinoki and laurel which are still nice but less intriguing and original. They have just released a fourth collaboration, ‘yoyogi’ which sounds great. Sugi’s longevity is terrible for me - It is my SOTD and I’ve already applied twice - or I’d wear it all the time. I even love the bottle Smile

Well you got to the bottom of it yoikes but how frustrating. Having been a trustee I think certain only notice the showier sort of volunteer, not necessarily those really delivering.

MotherOfDragonite · 25/04/2020 16:55

SOTD today is Blousy by Miller Harris. On me it's berries, bramble and powder. I like it!

yoikes · 25/04/2020 18:05

Sote is vintage YSL In love again :)
Gorgeous!

FloraMacDonald · 25/04/2020 18:57

Sorry I've been quiet, I've not been feeling it recently. Trying to get my head round the end of my marriage is sapping all my enthusiasm at the moment. Got eau my soul on today, which is lovely.
yoikes it all sounds a bit crap. Sorry. No advice or suggestions, just a socially distanced hug.

Anyway, I had an idea for a new 'game' when the calendar is finished. Sort of Desert Island Perfumes - not ones you would actually wear on a desert island, but your top 8? fragrances and chose one of them if you could only have one. And maybe a favourite book too. And one luxury item.
No idea what I would choose for any of the categories. If we get bored in a week or so we could maybe give it a go.
