Sotd choco musk
I've got a sore throat and I'm fed up

KaliforniaDreamz · 17/04/2020 17:23

Yoikes I am too. Really down x

MrsPerks · 17/04/2020 17:29

That's an amazing description of your Grandparent's house, Pears, and of Ffern Spring 20. You very vividly brought back an impression of my Great Aunt's house, even though I saw it (and smelled the polished parquet) for the last time over thirty years ago.

Hope you feel better soon Yoikes Flowers.

That's a kind offer Boglins - thank you.

Not had our best couple of days, nit outbreak, and now the same child has a vomiting bug. Sad SotD is Eau de Dettol.

MrsPerks · 17/04/2020 17:40

On a perkier note, although I have been avoiding beauty boxes and subscriptions, I did treat myself to the annual Latest in Beauty/Style Magazine collaboration, as it was a good way of getting several things I actually needed whilst locked down. It arrived today. I managed to snag one of the Lisa Eldridge matte red lipsticks as part of the order and it really is an excellent velvety red. Slightly OTT with my jogging bottoms, but a real tonic nonetheless. Grin

MrsPerks · 17/04/2020 17:42

Hope you feel better soon, too, Kali Flowers

PearsMorgan · 17/04/2020 17:56

Thanks MrsP and lipstick with comfies is not OTT but in fact the dernier cri

MrsPerks · 17/04/2020 18:09

Thanks Pears, have just told DTeen that, but she is looking sceptical... Grin.

Calmasasleepycat · 18/04/2020 10:51

Boglins I’ve never tried Tocca Brigitte but I think the Ellnett spray would be very familiar. And I love tobacco smells!

MrsP I’ve ordered a Serge Lutens sample, Bois de Vanille. Couldn’t get the Bois de Violette one, which sounds absolutely delightful. It will have to wait until I can get to Liberty.

Judy I’m in love with your cat 💕. I don’t have Philosykos, although I have tested some time ago. I do have Italian Summer Fig, which is a respectable look alike from Body Shop. Love it.

Pears I think the most enjoyable perfumes are ones which conjure up memories, either real or pretend. How lovely to be able to bring back memories of your grandparents’ house! Ffern Spring 20 must be wonderful, with all the lovely astringent galbanum.

MrsPerks · 18/04/2020 22:50

I enjoyed you calendar entry today Calm . I didn't know anything about Imaginary Authors - that's just such a fabulous concept. O'Unknown! sounds beautiful - orris , sandalwood, moss and smoky tea. Is it austere?

yoikes · 19/04/2020 09:04

Sotd will be pp by the fireplace

MrsPerks · 19/04/2020 15:40

Loved your review, and the soundtrack Mother. Listened under the cherry blossom in the sunshine.Smile Nice to know the story as to how you found your way to us...Smile

SotD #1 = Talisman (Balenciaga), #2 Chunga (Weil). The former is a sweet fruit/floral chypre. It is powdery and lightly woody, and
tells a single, unified, elegant story despite the large number of listed notes. The latter, Chunga, is a floral aldehyde with a beautiful warm woody/spicy aspect.

Calmasasleepycat · 19/04/2020 16:48

MrsP, “O, Unknown!” Is definitely austere. It’s like a monastery In the Nepalese mountains, but I couldn’t find an appropriate copyright free image, so I opted for the “lonely explorer” look instead (husband on a boat). The lushness probably gives a wrong impression of the perfume. As an aside, Bloom Perfumery gave me some Imaginary Author bookmarks, complete with quotations from the books!

SOTD was Givenchy Insensé. I just have a little miniature bottle but a couple of dabs have lasted me 4-5 hours. It is a fragrant pine-based perfume, flowery and with a complete lack of disinfectant or room freshener notes! It is no longer made so I’m enjoying it while I can.

Ah Mother, your beloved Monyette Paris! I loved the music to match the blossomy perfume. If any of us go to USA, we shall have to have a mission to buy you a bottle. It sounds delightful.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/04/2020 19:27

💐💐💐 for everyone fed up and struggling. I also have a sore throat, but runny nose too so think it’s just hay fever. We have a load of cherry blossom trees in our street.

mrsP I have two of those Lisa Eldridge lipsticks, Velvet Morning, and Velvet Ribbon. They are glorious. I always wear red lipstick, and am continuing to do so even if I am just walking round the block.

calm thank you, she is a wee cutie, but a pest. I finally gave in to DP saying we had to shut her in the kitchen overnight because she had started coming through to our bed the minute it gets light, mithering for breakfast. (She always has dry food available, but gets wet twice a day.) I slept eight hours straight on the first night, and she is absolutely fine - we moved her bed through. I don’t know why I didn’t agree years ago.

SOTD M&G Dark Rum. Yesterday was Miss Dior Originale.

yoikes · 20/04/2020 16:45

Lovely reviews!

Sotd avon mesmerize for her black

MrsPerks · 20/04/2020 17:43

Thank you for the review FrenchFoodie - really liking the sound of earthy, herby prairie vetiver Smile.

Have been challenged by today's sunny but chilly/windy weather - after extended deliberation I ended up in The Darkest Bloom (which is really growing on me - especially the unusual and very beautiful base). Also in Fluffy Lemon Tops - but not so smitten with this, simply because it feels a refinement of Lemon Sherbert. I have 15mls (minus a few sprays) if anyone has a different 4160Tuesdays 15ml they'd like to swap for it? (Now or after lockdown...).

I hate home schooling too, Kali.

PearsMorgan · 20/04/2020 18:04

I hate home schooling.

I have had such a shit afternoon that I’ve found work to finish so I can go to my office later and not have to interact with any of them.

SOTD Beyond Rose, best thing about my day so far.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/04/2020 19:07

I hate home teaching.

SOTD Rive Gauche.

Ds1 (16) just gets on with it (thank god)

Ds2 (11) is usually ok but lied to me today about completing some work. Cue words and then he cried:(

I really don't think I'm asking too much of him at all (1.5-2 hours a day which includes 30 mins PE with joe wicks) but he's obv not enjoying it. Sigh.

Sote choco musk

Calmasasleepycat · 20/04/2020 22:51

French, Cowboy Grass sounds intriguing - I enjoyed your description.

SOTD was Balmain Ivoire, a classy cool floral iris.

yoikes · 21/04/2020 14:33

Sotd avon mesmerize black for her

KaliforniaDreamz · 21/04/2020 14:39

Yoikes Aroatics sounds really nice. I do think we have similar tastes.

Judy i cannot tell you how much i appreciate teachers. Always have and even more so now.
My youngest's primary school is really going above and beyond to keep the community together. It is incredible.

Strange times.

SOTD Bottega Veneta Eau legere

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/04/2020 16:26

SOTD TF Soleil Blanc. Lovely day here, although still chilly.
