Yoikes love the pic you chose and nice review. i thought i loved rose scents but am really going off them. I've got Tear Rose by PP and it is too much for me. After all this if anyone wants it i will post.
I also do not like Guerlain (I think??) but do like (LOVE) Chanel.
guess what just arrived in my post? Choco Musk. I smell like cake and my DD has nicked it already!
so that is my SOTD
MrsP i still feel so ignorant around scents. Reminds me of the classic books i haven't read but daren't admit to (Gatsby anyone?)
Happy Easter Saturday kids. x

MrsPerks · 11/04/2020 13:08

No sign of the post so am in Ealing Green to remove dandelions from what should be a lawn. Don't think I realised how good this was, Calm. More rose later....

Whilst looking for Ealing Green I found two Freddo Frogs I'd been hiding from the kids. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. Grin

MrsPerks · 11/04/2020 13:11

Yes, exactly, Kali - although easier to make progress?

PearsMorgan · 11/04/2020 14:18

I’ve never smelled Chanel no5 or any Dior.

SOTD I cracked and opened the Ffern. Think this ones a keeper but will save it for the calendar

yoikes · 11/04/2020 18:56

Sote 4160 fluffy lemon tops

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 11/04/2020 19:23

SOTD TF Soleil Blanc (Swalley Blank). No heatwave here, but it was at least in double figures.

Loved the review Yoikes , for some reason I’d not expect spicy of a Clinique scent with rose in the title. The calendar is good at expanding my sniffing horizons.

Have you tried Penhaligon’s Much ado about the Duke? It is my big exception to not being keen on rose scents. May choose for my next review if I can still sniff it objectively!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 11/04/2020 19:39

Ohhh, so happy to see a Beyond Rose review. It really is a stunner. Spicy sour rosey loveliness.

I know lots of people think BR is very 'un-Clinique' but it is in keeping, imo, with the house that brought us the weird, wonderful, love-it-or-hate-it Aromatics Elixir.

teta · 11/04/2020 20:06

I’m also wearing Ffern Spring, but I won’t say anything more 🤫.
It’s been a really warm day and I’m sunburnt.
I’m really enjoying the reviews. It’s a little Ray of sunshine in my day. I hope everyone is taking care and keeping ok.
Am I the only one who feels like thumping Hancock?

yoikes · 12/04/2020 11:07

Happy Easter my fragrant ones ❤

What a fabulous review kali!!

i have no rights over choco musk Grin

I have read Brighton Rock (love graham greene) and your review is spot on.

No sotd yet as I've been for walk with ds1 and just lobbed a chicken in the oven for lunch.

teta · 12/04/2020 11:22

Happy Easter 🐣🐰🐣.
Great literary review @KaliforniaDreamz.

MrsPerks · 12/04/2020 12:00

Loved your review Kali - what a great read. Have been intrigued by Violet Ida for ages. Looking for a violet for today now or a chocolate

MotherOfDragonite · 12/04/2020 21:58

I tried Ffern Spring yesterday, teta and Pears.

Are we allowed to say what we think yet? Grin Grin Grin

SOTD today was Fluffy Lemon Tops. It's so versatile and seems just as at home in this spring weather as it did in the cold.

yoikes · 12/04/2020 22:01

4160 fluffy lemon tops here too :)

Calmasasleepycat · 12/04/2020 22:02

Yesterday I wore Miss Balmain. It is vintage but probably post 1990 as it has a barcode on the box. It is exquisitely beautiful, with a bright and green oakmossy opening and lots of florals, not sweet.

Today I wore Shay & Blue Blood Oranges. This has a strong orange note which lasts all the way through, together with leather. It is my favourite from this house, although I haven’t tried all of them.

I’m loving the reviews. yoikes I believe it was me who sent you a sample of Beyond Rose, last summer. I’m pleased you enjoyed it. I thought you might like it, as an amber-loving perfumista! I’m pretty certain it was Maud who attracted me to try it in the first place and now I have a bottle plus back-up 💕

Kali, I have missed out on trying Violet Ida, but certainly plan to visit the Miller Harris shop in Covent Garden, when we return to normal living. I enjoyed your description of Violet.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 12/04/2020 22:31

SOTD Diptyque Eau Duelle. It’s bloody freezing here again, so this hit the spot.

MrsPerks · 12/04/2020 22:44

So for my violet hit I ended up in Pharrell Williams' Girl and 4160Tuesdays Tart's Knicker Drawer. Haven't worn Girl in ages but I enjoyed it - a spare, synthetic-woodsie sort of violet. Tart's Knicker Drawer seemed all about the raspberry today.

yoikes · 13/04/2020 08:45

Sotd 4160 fluffy lemon tops

MrsPerks · 13/04/2020 15:04

Lovely to hear about Fleur du Matin, Teta. Pine, green honeysuckle and basil; mmm, sounds gorgeous .

Completely know what you mean about the not uncorking chilly green top notes before the weather warms up.

The temperature here has taken a dive today so I have been looking for something spring-like but on the warm side. I settled on Seville a L'Aube (as it would be wrong to get through Easter without giving it an outing Smile). A nip of neroli, gusts of orange blossom warmed in the spring sunshine, plus lavender and beeswax add a hint of something medicinal or liturgical.

teta · 13/04/2020 15:12

I wanted to upload this picture for Fleur du Matin to the calender but it was too many Mb.

1frenchfoodie · 13/04/2020 18:52

Fleur du matin sounds great Teta, must add to my long list of must smells.

SOTD Creed Vetiver Geranium, fresh deliciousness.

Just waiting for the French president’s address to the nation to see how much longer we’ll be locked down for and how quickly I need to get sewing masks..

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 13/04/2020 19:54

SOTD Stella. Lovely rosy rose, nothing fancy.

Boglins · 14/04/2020 11:20

Ooh so many new ones to try!! I'm still undecided as to what to wear for my next review tomorrow!

I've gone with the PP version of Swalley Blank today as it's very sunny here (although still chilly).

Calmasasleepycat · 14/04/2020 12:34

I had forgotten how lovely Fleur du Matin is, Teta. That was a lovely description.

My SOTD is Bottega Veneta Knot. This is a neroli/orange blossom perfume, quite strong and almost peppery to my nose. There is a lovely bright bitterness to the top notes.

1frenchfoodie · 14/04/2020 12:54

SOTD Comme des Garçons x Monocle Sugi. An amazingly fresh but complex and slightly spicy lemon cypress scent. It is spring perfection but it needs refreshing every few hours so poor is its longevity on me.
