Lovely review yoikes, a good one to start us off 😀. My SOTD is Choco Musk in your honour! To my mind it is a sweet milky chocolate and wafts around quite nicely. It has made me feel like searching out some other chocolate perfumes. 🍫

yoikes · 01/04/2020 11:55

Thank you!
I'm really enjoying choco musk...glad you like it
My perfume choice today is barely there anymore which has surprised me

FloraMacDonald · 01/04/2020 13:35

I'm mostly wearing big-sillage perfumes at the moment. I think I find them comforting. Also, I'm only over-powering my DC with them, as I haven't seen anyone else in weeks. Today I'm wearing slightly too much Jazz Club.

MrsPerks · 01/04/2020 17:04

Yoikes - thank you for making such a beautiful job of our first calendar entry. Flowers
(Your sentiments on the need for friendship brought a tear to my eye, especially as the rest of MN seems a bit of a bear pit right now?).

You're made me want to try Arpege and Nuits Indienne side by side. From memory I think they are quite different (Arpege being a classic, beautifully measured and balanced, powdery floral aldehyde, that exudes poise and intelligence, and NI being a much warmer and more informal fruity floriental?

I can't do this today, as I've gone for the ultimate transgressive big perfume home working thrill and am liberally doused in Theo Fenell's Scent. Shanky cumin, rose and saffron.

yoikes · 01/04/2020 17:20

You are very welcome! ❤
Iscentyouaday made s grear blog post about lockdown and wearing all your big hitters and special saved scents...check it out!
I'm now in choco musk again :)
Love to all x

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 02/04/2020 11:19

Thanks for all your kind words Flowers

I've taken the advice about big hitters and NSFWs! Wearing a generous dousing of Amouage Opus 1 today. Yuge soapy-yet-dirty white flowers, quite animalic, very luxurious, as is always the case with this house. Amouage perfumes always make me feel as if I should be stalking down New Bond Street wearing enormous sunglasses and leather trousers, swinging Louis Vuitton and Hermes shopping bags from each arm. In other words, utterly glamorous and just a wee bit vulgar Grin

Sadly I am at my dining room table in three pairs of socks and two jumpers, hair thick with dry shampoo and sudocrem all over my face (skin has gone completely haywire since lockdown). Still my time will come!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/04/2020 12:28

SOTD is Miss Dior. I forgot to post yesterday, but it was TF Soleil Blanc.

Hope you're al surviving, Judy i am sorry you got that reaction from a student, i can see from the stuff my kids are getting how hard teachers are working. xxx

SOTD Wood Mystique Estee Lauder. makes me feel like a mysterious and sultry diva ahahaha

yoikes · 02/04/2020 15:47

Oooh (goes off to read...)

yoikes · 02/04/2020 15:49

Lovely ;)
It's one of my favourite EL scents too (but I've only got the pp version)
Sotd has been choco musk. It's very scrummy and cheap as chips ;)

KaliforniaDreamz · 02/04/2020 16:27

also gutted PP has shut for now

yoikes · 02/04/2020 16:28

Me too...I was planning a lockdown order :(

Calmasasleepycat · 02/04/2020 18:27

Kali, I love Estée Lauder perfumes! I have never tried Wood Mystique, but your review make me want to try it. I have a wish list for PP, so will add this. Thank you!

I’ve been wearing Zoologist Civet today. This is a really comforting, enveloping fragrance, like being wrapped in sweet, soft, clean fur. It’s quite strong but, on me, not too animalistic, and perfect for lockdown 😊

1frenchfoodie · 02/04/2020 18:31

I love your choice of perfume to review kali , wood and rose is a combination I really like and am wearing today in Pehaligon’s Much Ado about the Duke.

How does the PP version compare to the original for those that have smelt both?

VeniceBeach · 02/04/2020 22:50

I’ve been trying out Jo Malone samples and it looks like they’re not for me on the whole!

Vintage Gardenia, Orange Blossom and English Pear and Freesia all have the same (powdery?) scent behind them, to my nose.

Honeysuckle and Jasmine is my least favourite - smells just like Anais Anais.

Poppy and Barley is lovely although I disliked it at first - the only one I’d consider buying in full size.

MrsPerks · 02/04/2020 23:01

Thank you for your lovely contribution to the calendar today, Kali. That's another one to add the must try list...

TF's Scent proved tenacious. Was still detectable after a shower (I don't usually spray it generously). I have stuck with bigger hitters today, including vintage Diva, which strikes me as having quite a lot in common with Scent, even though they aren't similar smelling. Diva is a big honeyed civet, which is also unapologetically shanky.

Also in vintage Joy which I like a lot, and which reminds me a bit of vintage Missoni. I need to look them both up and see if I can work out any overlaps.

FloraMacDonald · 03/04/2020 12:15

I'm loving reading the perfume reviews, thanks.
Today's lucky dip is Scenthusiasm, which I really don't get. I saw a review by Sarah McCartney saying it's very Iris, but it's just green & citrus on me. I think I'll probably sell it when normal service is resumed. I have 2 X 9 MLS if anyone is interested.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 03/04/2020 14:19

SOTD Tauer Carillon again. I really love this. We "break up for Easter" today. It seems like such a waste of precious holidays, and I am a bit worried that a lack of structure will mean I spend all day lying about in my pjs!

Sotd pp by the fireplace
I'm going to try and wear a different perfume every day for s couple of weeks...
Might cheer me up

JMAngel1 · 03/04/2020 17:41

Hi, where can I find the calender scent review entries please?
I'm really missing scent browsing in real life so hoping to live vicariously through your reviews ☺

JMAngel1 · 03/04/2020 17:43

Sorry, my SOTD is Iris Goddess - a little too diluted for me.

teta · 03/04/2020 19:43

Sorry does anyone want to do my slot today? And swop with me!
I'm really busy and stressed with really long days at the moment 🙏.
