Second that Gooseygirl no matter what our personal opinions on the events of late I really miss Meghan on theses threads. Kate is lovely but generally sensible rather than stylish, so frustrating with her looks and figure. I much prefer Meghan’s take on a night out at the theatre.

Last night I went down a rabbit hole watching runway shows of various designers on YouTube. I saw a lots of things that Kate would look great in but she would have to be a bit more adventurous to wear them.

Loved MM dress that night.

I agree Kate's sparkly shoes are a great look. I don't even mind the matchy clutch because it also adds some needed sparkle to her look.

I did listen to her podcast. It was quite interesting. I also liked how her accent was more 'normal' when she was talking naturally. You could hear when she put on her 'work' voice.

Kate's a no from me tonight, looks like one of us having come straight from the office, shoved on some sparkly shoes and hoped that would do as evening, looks like she couldn't be bothered tonight, but I suppose we've all felt like that!

Totally agree. The dress would have been fine for a day time engagement with different accessories, but, much as I like the sparkly shoes and clutch, they do not go with that dress at all.

I think we've said it on here before - Kate is good at casual (skinnies, bretons, supergas, or skinnies, Barbours and her Penelope Chilvers), or full-on glamour - like that lovely red dress she wore to the Chinese reception a few years ago, or the navy velvet from last year's diplomatic reception - but she struggles with anything in between.

Not exactly true @MotherofPearl, she's had some good cocktail dresses too. The red sparkly one she wore to a recent BP reception, the DVF in Belfast, the tweedy (though marmite!) Erdem at the V&A to name a few. Not formal gowns but all suitable for an evening out.

I agree Queen the red dress she wore recently was lovely. Maybe she is jut very over the weather and struggling to know what to wear, I know I am.

Would be nice for everything she wears not to be compared to Meghan though. The constant comparisons between the two have done neither of them any favours.

I rather liked Kate's outfit. My eyes were drawn to the fabulous shoes and swishy hair though. I also liked the buttons.

It's the hair. Standalone, of course it looked lovely as always. But it's just so blergh. too long, random blow out curls.... it adds nothing. Honestly, a smart pulled back pony tail of the type she could do herself in 2 minutes would add more than what she has. I wish I could find the words for why her hair bothers me so much but to me it just makes everything she wears frumpy. when she ties it back into glamourous up dos for fancy events of course that works, but on a day to day basis it's just so boring/frumpy/old fashioned even though on paper it's beautifully styled and blow dried?

In this photo, where her hair is sleeker, the extra long doesn't bother me as much and she looks more modern. I think for those big curls of hers you need to have shorter hair or go for a more modern springier curl.

I think Kate’s hair is beautiful, but in this case it was working against the dress a bit. It made it seem a bit too casual.

I’d love to see her with a sleek bob - I doubt she ever will as her big hair is sort of a signature! But it would be a good look for her, I think.

That’s a good colour on HMQ, the standard black shoes actually work with it quite well, which is nice.

I'd like to see a long bob - the kind that can be curled or tied up for some glamour but also dried fairly straight or super sleek as required. I'd kill for that.
