New year, new decade, new thread. Come join us for friendly fashion chat, you can agonise over the right length to wear your jeans or deliberate the exact tone of lippy. A frivolous space in tricky times. All welcome.

Happy birthday one. The new DMs sound great.

Welcome westr Smile

Apple I love orange and navy too. Planning to wear that colour combo to work tomorrow.

Dream good to hear you are getting lots of time with mini mini! Where are you going on holidays?

I'm so exhausted, things have improved since NYE but emotionally I am feeling a bit wiped out. Had 3 weeks off over Christmas, one week back at work and feel like I need another break. Have a long weekend planned for in 4 weeks time - seems ages away.

Happy birthday One - I missed reading your OOTDs and your birthday outfit sounds very you. I’m off to google your DMs.

Applefairy · 13/01/2020 14:16

Are they these ones? Very cool

Applefairy · 13/01/2020 15:17

Matches have their extra 20% off sale and it applies to some very lovely things in my Wishlist. But I am determined to get back some control and not spend so much on clothes this year - instead I want to lose weight and enjoy what I have already in my (overflowing) wardrobe....

Lib, I’m also emotionally exhausted (having a horrible time at work and finding no new position to move to). But in the meantime, clothes are such a lovely visual distraction and also a satisfying way of expressing myself. They also help to mask my feelings of unhappiness/vulnerability when I go in to my workplace. I still always slay my style but if I feel good in my own head then I know I will cope Smile

....when I work from home my outside appearance more closely reflects how my head truly feels (a soft, shapeless mess!)

Themarvellousmrsm · 13/01/2020 15:49

Happy birthday for yesterday One - cool DM's & perfect for your quirky style

Weather is rubbish here today so very envious of you jetting off somewhere Dream

Sorry you're having a tough time at work Apple - clothes can be a great mask (along with many other things that you'll all understand on these S&B threads) and a great distraction

Ootd here was harem pants and hoody and now yoga outfit as cba to change. No make up or jewellery and minimal hair styling

Themarvellousmrsm · 13/01/2020 15:59

To make up for my utter lack of style today, here’s a picture of Billy Porter looking fabulous

Themarvellousmrsm · 13/01/2020 16:06

Love Saoirse Ronan’s whole look, just a little bit edgy and great neckline and sleeves —I would so wear this dress—

Also Kristen Bell - not massively keen on the colour, but love the style with the cape and her minimal makeup tones it all down

Nice pics MrsM
I preferred Billy Porter’s outfit for the previous awards.
Belated Happy Birthday One - amazing DMs if they are the ones linked.
There is an am amazing Self Portrait floor length dress on NaP in the sale, cream with a kind of leopard ish black print and an open back. I can’t link it for some reason but one of you MUST buy it.

shopafrolic · 13/01/2020 17:18

HERE

MarshaBradyo · 13/01/2020 18:51

Love that.

MarshaBradyo · 13/01/2020 18:52

Saoirse has such a good look.

Happy birthday One for yesterday

MarshaBradyo · 13/01/2020 18:54

Apple sorry to hear your job is hard atm, I hear you on good style to help.

Lib Flowers hang in there. Glad you’re through the hardest part I’m not surprised you’re feeling exhausted x

westr · 13/01/2020 21:22

Thanks for the welcome... I think this thread might be quite dangerous for my finances!

libertyonhertravels · 14/01/2020 06:36

Hmmmm yes it can be westr but we're a good sounding board for splurge buys, we all tend to be if the return if it isn't perfect mindset.

Apple sorry to hear work is so tough. My work is very hard too - one of a number of issues I am dealing with. Get up, dress up and show up is my mantra. I may have some other work options but it means moving city. Even just typing that is making me sigh very deeply.

I've decided against buying boots for now as I won't wear them for months. I'd like to treat myself but often make bad decisions when I buy clothes just to cheer myself up. Nice skincare and massages are a safer bet.

Belated happy birthday One hope you had a great day.
Sorry you are having work issues Lib and apple hope things improve soon. Clothes can be an armour during tough times Flowers
Shop love that Zadig look, can totally see you in it.
Haven't ordered the weekday jeans yet as I really wanted black ones and I already have washed black (that were originally black) Will see if I can find that slim but not flappy straight shape in black.
My dark circles are at crisis point. I have just bought a trish mcevoy concealer. First impressions are good. I'll link it later as forgotten what its called but its very high coverage, the man at the counter said it can cover tattoos!
I think the worse circles might be down to this lash serum Ive been using for the last 4 months. It is honestly amazing, my lashes are so thick and long now. I had very sparse lashes before and barely any bottom lashes. The serum works by increasing blood flow to the area and says it can cause darkening of the surrounding area. For now I can live with the tradeoff Smile

shopafrolic · 14/01/2020 22:12

Anna sale is now 70% off Some really lovely pieces.

shopafrolic · 14/01/2020 22:14

Justa I wanted to pick your brains actually. Do you know of a really good black liquid eyeliner (for flicks) that has good staying power? I used to use a YSL one but they have changed the brush and I’m struggling.

justasecond · 14/01/2020 22:50

lol shop eyeliner is the one thing I have no idea about as I don't really wear it other than for tight lining. However I do have a brand new pot of this www.beautybay.com/p/illamasqua/precision-gel-liner/ that I don't need. I bought it for a wedding then didn't used it. I am very happy to post it to you to try out.

Thanks so much for the Anna sale link. I have snapped up these boots. I have wanted a pair of long boots that were not too expensive for a while. Will only wear them with skirts. Hope they fit ok.

Applefairy · 15/01/2020 01:24

Nice boots! I use a tarte liquid eyeliner - has a pencil on the other end. I like it a lot.

Applefairy · 15/01/2020 01:29

It’s the Tarte ‘double take’ - you can get it in a travel size to try. I wear eyeliner everyday and this is my favourite after my laura mercier cake eyeliner (I use for tightlining)

shopafrolic · 15/01/2020 14:02

Justa lovely boots - I'm glad you found something - I love the Anna sale. Thanks for the eyeliner :)
Apple thanks for the recommendation - I'll take a look. I know exactly what you mean about clothes masking things, sorry to hear work is tough - keep on slaying your style Flowers
I am absolutely loving the Grenson boots - just perfect for me, I'm so glad I got them, only slight irritation is that the shearling tongue sometimes slips to one side. I think maybe I need to lace them more tightly.
No real style news here. Dog walk today so mainly muddy.

MarshaBradyo · 15/01/2020 15:10

Lovely boots Justa

I put four things in the Anna basket last night but in the cold light of day I rethought. Really good discounts though and nice stuff. I just have to keep focussed on what I need.

CarolineBingley · 16/01/2020 07:55

Well done for resisting MarshaGrin

I am away for a few days which is a recipe for eating way to much. My exercise discipline has fallen away as it is so I will have to kick start at the weekend.Sad

I have packed 3 knitted dresses for this trip. 2 from hobbs, the Gracie dress which are so ancient but probably only get worn about 3 times a year so are in great condition and a Karen millen black knitted dress which is a couple of years old. Worn with my new long R&B boots.

Have a lovely day!Smile

Themarvellousmrsm · 17/01/2020 18:42

Absolutely no fashion news here but posting to keep the thread alive!

Love the boots Justa, fab price. did you order any of the ankle boots you linked?

Hope you had a good few days away Caroline?

I've missed the boat on the MV faux leather leggings (sold out) but will have a look around and see if there are any more that look good. May even manage a shopping trip next week.

Quiet weekend thankfully, in pj's already!

Themarvellousmrsm · 17/01/2020 18:55

Last weekend I saw a fair few dress over trousers look - midi dresses or pleated skirts over skinny jeans or leather skinnies with mostly trainers - similar to this look

Also lots of wide crops and, you guessed it, trainers. Still lots of skinnies about but mostly worn at the ankle phew, am still cutting it Grin

Lots of vejas and all I could think about was whether or not their feet were hurting!
