Royal style: forget all your stresses as we talk royal dresses

Previous thread

Now. A request. Can we please keep this to critiquing the clothes rather than the wearer?

So if you want to talk about what Meghan's wearing then fine, go ahead. I'm not even saying you have to like everything she wears. This applies to all royal women - if you don't like an outfit then do feel free to say so.

But if you want to talk about "Megxit" then please go to one of the many many other MN threads about it and leave us to our clothes chatter!

I'm guessing we all like jewellery on this thread and this website featured in today's Times sounds interesting. I would love a huge solitaire emerald...

Just realised it's Davos time. We should see an outing of crowned heads of Europe. Including Max!
It looks like an Ergobaby to me Bani not a baby Bjorn

Here you go @paradyning:

@SeaRabbit, ah well if you're a solitaire emerald fan then look no further than Wallis Simpson's engagement ring. Shock

Max is at Davos in red tones, including a leather skirt and a flamboyant ODLR coat. Mathilde is also there in a red trouser suit.

Who inherited all Wallis's jewellery? Was it auctioned off? She was an only child so no nieces or nephews to inherit.

No idea @QueenOfTheAndals, but I'd gladly take the emerald ring Grin

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 22/01/2020 09:11

What is going on with Max’s hair? It looks kind of greasy and unwashed.

Sotheby’s Auction of Duchess of Windsor Jewellery

It was a spectacular auction.
It must have been a while back, probably not long after she died in 1990, as Prince Charles wanted to by the PoW feathers brooch for Diana.
I remember Elizabeth Taylor bought it in honour of (Welsh) Richard Burton.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 22/01/2020 09:16

That was a “reauction” of some of the pieces in the collection.

The original auction was in 1987

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/01/2020 09:16

The house the Windsors lived in in Paris was bought by none other than Mohammed Al-Fayed!

List of royal residences from Wikipedia. I didn't realise so many of them were still in use. It does make you wonder!

This is the PoW feathers brooch I mentioned.

It was auctioned again as part of Sale of Elizabeth Taylor’s jewellery

My favourite DoW piece was the panther bracelet.

@paradyning Am mortified. I had an Ergobaby so should have recognized it. Handing in my babywearer license as we speak.

Stand by the mei tai though. ;)

BlingLoving · 22/01/2020 09:40

Am feeling smug!!! A few threads ago I said kate might like Tabitha Webb and voila, here it is. Really am starting to think they are on here....

She looks great. 2 engagements today and one tomorrow? I got sense from RR on Twitter that she went from Birmingham to Cardiff last night. K wo der where she stays?

MotherofPearl · 22/01/2020 09:50

That panther bracelet is beautiful.

QueenOfTheAndals · 22/01/2020 10:09
