Royal style: forget all your stresses as we talk royal dresses

Previous thread

Now. A request. Can we please keep this to critiquing the clothes rather than the wearer?

So if you want to talk about what Meghan's wearing then fine, go ahead. I'm not even saying you have to like everything she wears. This applies to all royal women - if you don't like an outfit then do feel free to say so.

But if you want to talk about "Megxit" then please go to one of the many many other MN threads about it and leave us to our clothes chatter!

If that’s just days not engagements it’s not terrible - most people with 25 days hol and bank hols work 227 days a year. I think it’s the travel that’s time consuming as well - wasn’t Princess Anne at a memorial in Aberdeenshire yesterday? She’s not at the coal face, true, but she’s nearly 70 and zipping about from pillar to post trying to do what she can to represent the Queen.

The website has a modest section for those that wish to be covered up. I can see why Kate would like that.

itswinetime · 20/01/2020 23:22

Kate's earrings are new And from this company soru jewellery for those that like bling

My job is part time and it works out at 156 days per year. I definitely consider it working though!

MotherofPearl · 20/01/2020 23:42

Thanks for posting that jewellery link @itswinetime - some lovely things there and quite affordable too, considering.

BlingLoving · 20/01/2020 23:51

Honestly, I have no issues with the number of engagements overall. Also would like to know what counts as an engagement. I do believe that theres much more than just the stuff we see. Plus as a pp mentioned, travel time etc.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/01/2020 23:54

Anyone see the video on Instagram of Williams speech basically saying that he and Catherine hope to visit soon and share their love of Africa with the children...could we see a Cambridge family tour of Africa in the not to distant future?

I was thinking that @itswinetime
It would be lovely to see the Cambridge children on holiday in Africa

A bit of William’s speech

itswinetime · 20/01/2020 23:58

Are you getting paid £2.4million a year for it though? If so are you hiring? Wink.

Sorry I didn't mean to say that you have to be working over a certain number of days to be working I didn't make my point very clearly I will try and be clearer.

The royals do work, but I don't think it's something you can really compare to a 'normal' job.

Fir example a 3 day royal tour with maybe 3 events a day plus travel like William and Kate did I would find exhausting, being driven to a charity event and shaking hands for an hour not so much. But in statistics like that the tour counts as 3 days which may have been 7-8 hour days ( I have no idea) but charity event counts as 1 whole day when it may have only taken 1-2hrs so I still think there is some room for the slack to be picked up. It will just take better time management.

Hope that makes more sense, probably not but it's getting late.

Meghan walking the dogs......

ajandjjmum · 21/01/2020 05:09

Thank goodness she's been able to avoid to paps in Vancouver! Hmm She looks so stressed - poor love. I'd be worried sick about my DH, not wandering around having my picture taken.

mrscampbellblackagain · 21/01/2020 06:07

Meghan looks nice but lordy, she needs to sort that baby carrier out pronto! Has she seen the abuse celebs get online if they're children aren't in their car seats or carriers correctly?

Spudlet · 21/01/2020 07:17

Yes, how dare she leave the house? And not in sackcloth and ashes either?! The bitch!

Seriously, give it a rest. 🙄

WineOrGinOrBoth · 21/01/2020 07:27

Cute video of the royals greeting each other. It looks genuine to me.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 21/01/2020 07:27

Sorry the warmth looks genuine.

beanaseireann · 21/01/2020 07:37

Well, Meghan walking the dogs with Archie in a baby carrier has pushed the more important reception at Buckingham Palace ( W& C's first hosting there )with Prince William, Kate, P Anne etc way down the line on the DM website. So much for fading into the background.

hopeishere · 21/01/2020 07:45

Meghan is appropriately dressed for the weather!!

She wants a different type of fame and I'm sure paps were alerted that this walk was going to happen. Dangerous territory.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/01/2020 07:48

Well the DM could've chosen to go with last nights reception on the front page but didn't so...

In a slightly bizarre turn of events, Peter Phillips is advertising milk on state TV in China!

Good for Meghan. We have to accept that she and Harry will now choose to be photographed and the tabloids will print them because the public want to see them.
I was thinking last night the comments DoS would have had if she had turned up at the reception last night in DoW summer dress in mid winter (worn previously at the races in the sun). Its a very odd world even on this generally lovely thread.
PH is back in Canada now.

queenofarles · 21/01/2020 08:41

I think there was some sort of acceptance not to print any private photos by British papers, all of this is gone now.
On the other hand, the baby carrier! But never mind I need to smile and gaze Wink

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/01/2020 08:46

The carrier does look wonky, I have to admit! But I'm not one to get het up about things like that, though there's probably a thread about it on MN forming as we speak...

Interesting article about milk consumption in China despite high perecentage of population being lactose intolerant .

(sorry ,not fashion and not Royal )

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 21/01/2020 09:13

Sometimes it feels the like the world has gone mad!
But H, M & Archie will have had a lovely reunion last night & are now probably all tucked up & fast asleep in bed (time difference)
I hope they can/do make a go of things & prove people wrong, though we'll have to wait & see.

Right moving on, last nights BP event was a big success for William, Kate, Sophie, Anne & Edward.
A massive success for Sophie as she's torched got rid off Edward's old suits.
So onwards & upwards for everyone.
