Royal style: forget all your stresses as we talk royal dresses

Now. A request. Can we please keep this to critiquing the clothes rather than the wearer?

So if you want to talk about what Meghan's wearing then fine, go ahead. I'm not even saying you have to like everything she wears. This applies to all royal women - if you don't like an outfit then do feel free to say so.

But if you want to talk about "Megxit" then please go to one of the many many other MN threads about it and leave us to our clothes chatter!

Oops, I've always assumed Kate wore the Livers Knot tiara for her wedding and that's why she wears it all the time now!

*Lovers!!!

Curly I'm not all that fond of the Lover's Knot either. Like Queen, one of my favorites is Princess Anne's (formerly her grandmother Princess Alice's) Meander tiara that Zara wore at her wedding.

Some of the lesser known royal tiaras.
I particularly like the last one which converts from a bandeau into 3 bracelets .

@paradyning
Some threads back; someone linked to,a shop on i think Bond Street which sold tiaras. I’ve got the figure of about £400k in my head.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/01/2020 23:48

Link to lesser known tiaras would be helpful!
( also the aquamarine ones are a bit clunky)

SenecaFalls · 10/01/2020 23:49

400K pounds? In my neck of the woods, that would be two houses on your head.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/01/2020 23:50

@SenecaFalls
Wasn’t Princess Alice also descended from the Russian RF?

I’ve only ever seen her on the crown; but she seemed pretty spunky!

SenecaFalls · 10/01/2020 23:51

Isn't the Poltimore the one that got sold and no one knows where it is or who has it? Obviously they aren't wearing it out and about because it would be pretty hard to hide.

SenecaFalls · 10/01/2020 23:55

Curly I'm not sure about Alice (would need to check out the Battenberg side), but the mother of her husband, Prince Andrew of Greece, was a Romanov.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/01/2020 23:56

history of the Poltimore tiara

But I live it for this photo

*love, even!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 10/01/2020 23:57

@SenecaFalls
Oh that would explain where the Prince Phillip being descended from the à Russian RF comes from.

SeaRabbit · 10/01/2020 23:58

I've never noticed Tony in that photo before.

Loved the fact that Beatrice was at the wedding of Prince Franz Albrecht zu Oettingen-Spielberg and Cleopatra von Adelsheim in 2016. Fabulous names, eh!

NoGravyForYou · 10/01/2020 23:59

Love this whole look on Charlotte C.

Thanks Queen for the new thread!

Thanks Queen. I love Charlotte C - prefer
The longer hippy style on her though. I loved her wedding dress.

Sophie Wessex looks like a young Princess Anne

Pieceofpurplesky · 11/01/2020 00:09

Doh! Louise not Sophie

StartupRepair · 11/01/2020 00:22

Margaret in the bath is just an iconic photo, isn't it? And yes, just noticed bare-legged Tony. I expect he's wearing a bathrobe. It would be quite racy if released today. Imagine a photo of Kate in the bath!

Thank you for the new thread @QueenOfTheAndals.

I love the pictures of Beatrice Borromeo @MotherofPearl, she really has an amazing wardrobe. Oh to have the opportunity to have such fabulous dresses and places to wear them.

MakeMineALargeProsecco · 11/01/2020 07:02

Looking forward to seeing more dresses!

QueenOfTheAndals · 11/01/2020 07:07

@CurlyWurlyTwirly Princess Alice's mother and Alexandra, the last Tsarina, were sisters and that's why the DoE's DNA was used to identify the remains of the Romanovs.

Andrea Casiraghi is so handsome in that photo @NoGravyForYou has posted.

Thanks Queen for the new thread. bobs a curtsy to be properly fawning. Love that tiara than Zara wore on her wedding day due to geometric shapes. I think that's the only one I've liked actually. I don't think I'm a tiara type of gal!
