Royal style: forget all your stresses as we talk royal dresses

Previous thread

Now. A request. Can we please keep this to critiquing the clothes rather than the wearer?

So if you want to talk about what Meghan's wearing then fine, go ahead. I'm not even saying you have to like everything she wears. This applies to all royal women - if you don't like an outfit then do feel free to say so.

But if you want to talk about "Megxit" then please go to one of the many many other MN threads about it and leave us to our clothes chatter!

Kate will wear something new & fabulous to distract the front pages.
She does deserve something nice.
William was dragged away to crisis meetings on her birthday, and she just got on with it without a fuss

MrsGrindah · 13/01/2020 21:40

You don’t know she didn’t make a fuss! Maybe she made Wills sleep on the sofa that night!

AppleKatie · 13/01/2020 21:42

😂banned him from the 18 spare beds in the house as well as their own? She must have been really cross.

itswinetime · 13/01/2020 21:43

If it's new it will have to be high street no? There is a lot of focus on the royals and money at the moment I'm don't see the Cambridge's wanting to be drawn into that side of this anymore than they already are

TheNavigator · 13/01/2020 21:44

Even back in the day, Kate loved her elasticated fitted high heeled boots, a style I really dislike. I hope she breaks away from it one day.

DreamingofSunshine · 13/01/2020 21:49

I'm looking forward to a new DoC visit to see some new clothes, I really like what she wears, even though I'm more DoS in physique as I'm short waisted.

I've always wanted a tiara Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/01/2020 21:50

We wouldn't know whether she made a fuss or not @CurlyWurlyTwirly! 😂😂

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 13/01/2020 21:54

Well she didn’t flounce off to another country and leave him to it.

Wetdogloveshubert · 13/01/2020 21:57

Elasticated does have the benefit of stopping boots from slouching though, @TheNavigator. My DM struggles with that when her legs are less muscles. It's not a style I like either, but I have hams. Crown Sad

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/01/2020 21:58

I think you might be a bit too invested!

I thought the crisis meeting was today. Her birthday was last week.

Rhubarbisevil · 13/01/2020 22:01

I have some elasticated Penelope Chilvers jodhpur boots and they are a right sod to get on and off, I can tell you.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 13/01/2020 22:03

William was on a 4way conference call on her birthday.
I’m only going to talk about clothes on here.

So I’ll have something to talk about on Wednesday

itswinetime · 13/01/2020 22:03

Wasn't the birthday celebration before all this kicked off when we had the nice coat walk to church pics with the Middletons and everyone?

Her birthday was last week and the crisis meeting was today.

I'm sure it's not easy in any of the households at the moment but we don't know much more than that.

Thisenglishlife · 13/01/2020 22:05

The baby was in another country. Kate had her birthday party prior to her actual birthday:

The Duchess of Cambridge kicked off her birthday celebrations a little early by hosting a party for her nearest and dearest in Norfolk. Kate invited family and friends to the get together at their countryside home Anmer Hall over the weekend. The mum-of-three turns 38 on Thursday... The Cambridge family always hold Kate's birthday celebrations this weekend, ending their festive period before getting back to royal duties... In the past they have enjoyed shooting weekends and dinner parties.

MrsGrindah · 13/01/2020 22:06

It’s ages since we’ve seen Kate in evening mode. Or it feels like ages anyway. Hope she goes for full effect ( and not bloody lace).

MrsGrindah · 13/01/2020 22:08

@Thisenglishlife Would that be a straightforward shooting party?!

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/01/2020 22:16

The last evening dress we saw on Kate was that black and nude lace one. I wasn't keen. There was something a bit pelvic about it.

itswinetime · 13/01/2020 22:18

Wasn't the last gown the velvet McQueen or have I go my dates muddles again?

AudacityOfHope · 13/01/2020 22:28

My husband works pretty much every year on my birthday and nobody treats me like a national treasure Grin

C'mon, the Kate sycophancy is a wee bit much. All she's done is continue life as usual!

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/01/2020 22:33

Actually maybe it was velvet but in lacy pattern IYKWIM.

Agree @AudacityOfHope!

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/01/2020 22:37

Wait, you're right @itswinetime - it was the navy velvet at the diplomatic reception. I'm thinking of her royal variety performance dress.

Thanks for the thread - lost you guys for a while. So glad this is focused on fashion and not all the stuff that's being reported.

Really hope we see some new fashions soon!

RomaineCalm · 13/01/2020 22:56

I love all of those coats @Thisenglishlife - the pink colour is fabulous on her but I have to say the the dark green coat and dress together is one of my favourites.

FATEdestiny · 13/01/2020 23:01

I really like Kate with a fringe
