And definitely a rewear to further the “thrifty Kate” narrative?

AudacityOfHope · 10/01/2020 21:41

Yes @QueenOfTheAndals but was it a post by Bert saying 'AIBU to be pissed off that my husband won't come home because he's having a fight with his Granny?'

Grin
QueenOfTheAndals · 10/01/2020 21:41

I agree that Kate seems perfectly happy with royal life. More so than her husband!

If William is as miserable as people think and Kate is “Suffused with envy” then maybe they will be the next to resign! If Royal life really is insufferable why do the royals so desperately want to keep it? why don’t they end this farce and set themselves free?

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 10/01/2020 21:45

I think both Kate and Sophie have managed to adapt to life in the Royal Family remarkably well.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 10/01/2020 21:46

I also think Kate loves her life.

AudacityOfHope · 10/01/2020 21:49

You can enjoy your job and still feel peeved when people leave for pastures new though! Like, why didn't I think of that!?

derxa · 10/01/2020 21:52

You can enjoy your job and still feel peeved when people leave for pastures new though! Like, why didn't I think of that!? But I love this country. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than emigrate.

AudacityOfHope · 10/01/2020 21:59

I'm bored shitless by it, on the other hand. If I didn't have kids who love their grandparents very much I'd never look back at this dismal wee island.

derxa · 10/01/2020 22:03

this dismal wee island. Are you Emma Thompson? Grin

SunsetBoulevard3 · 10/01/2020 22:05

I also think Kate and Sophie have adapted really well and enjoy their lives. However both had years and years to get used to the RF and their partners before marriage. Harry and Meghan hadn’t even been in the same country for long at the same time.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/01/2020 22:06

Apropos of nothing, today I met a friend who's met Kate due to his association with one of her patronages. He says she's tall, incredibly slim and very chatty!

Blue as well if she’s really fitting into the recent line of succession branding/narrative.

AudacityOfHope · 10/01/2020 22:09

derxa yes! Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/01/2020 22:09

@SunsetBoulevard3 I don't think Sophie adapted that well at first - fake sheikh anyone? But she's turned into a trooper since and does a lot of engagements for very little glory.

OP posts:
SunsetBoulevard3 · 10/01/2020 22:12

Yes it was certainly a rocky start but she learned from her mistakes and turned it all round.

AppleKatie · 10/01/2020 22:13

The chattiness is learnt behaviour that must be one of the hardest parts- or at least it would be for me. Putting others at ease/finding something that is interesting, safe, politically neutral, warm, detached and seemingly intelligent to say to literally anyone at all time’s in the knowledge that it most likely will be quoted, picked apart and judged. I don’t fancy it!

SenecaFalls · 10/01/2020 22:17

Kate does seem to be a happy person, but I have a feeling she would not mind having more private time than her position affords.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/01/2020 22:18

Yes, as someone said on an earlier thread, something as innocuous as saying who your all-time favourite tennis player is could lead to headlines like “Kate longs for return of Agassi”!

FiveTwoFaster · 10/01/2020 22:18

I don’t think Kate enjoyed the abuse she got til she settled in, but I think she loves being a mother of three children and the charities she engaged with mean something more to her now than they could have at the beginning. I also think that while she is fine to stand back and let PW do the talking and walking in front of her in public, she probably wears the trousers at home.

You would have to have a pretty steely backbone to take all the shite printed about you for years before marriage, getting dumped, coming back from it, getting married, more shite, before finally having just developed a hide like a rhino, the DM decide you’re fine actually and then you get some more shite in the form of horrible rumours when you’re pregnant and have two children.

She’s an even better actress than Meghan.

Camilla is the one who could have said “no thanks” the most. I don’t think she was dying to be married to Prince Charles. She thought she was going to get egged on her wedding day. Thick skin essential in Royal Brides!

I thought the tide was turning on their Africa trip. They didn’t put a foot wrong. Re wears, no showing off, sharing glimpses of Archie, no £10k dresses, turning up to all engagements, not asking to leave them blah blah. The DM coverage was very positive (let’s face it, no one else is so rude about them). Then they just imploded it. Unbelievable.

pallisers · 10/01/2020 22:20

was it really all about that three monarchs picture?

I honestly believe it was. They took one look at that poor kid wearing a peter pan blouse that didn't match his (quite nice) trousers and a dodgy hair style and said "I think Archie deserves better"

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/01/2020 22:26

I'm imagining some baby side-eye and Archie thinking "I'll hang on to my pompom hat thanks".
