Where is her couture Dior? I wouldn't trust the BP staff to pack up my belongings. They'd put moths in with her cashmere!

DuchessofWoke · 10/01/2020 19:52

If I was William I’d be gutted not to say bye at least to little nephew

I’d hazard a guess he’s met him three times tops.

Tinselette1940 · 10/01/2020 19:55

MrsCampbell I miss Bonsoir too. She was full of information about Paris. I'd heard she was ill. Does anyone know how she is?

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/01/2020 19:57

Yes I agree @Spudlet. People are quick to blame Meghan but she seemed to throw herself into the business of being a Royal initially.

Isn't it more likely that Harry is behind this? He's talked about how he regards the press and has said the mere flash of a camera triggers memories of how his mother was harassed. Maybe it's only with the support of his wife that he feels he can do something about it.

Sorry I was AWOL for a bit. Was in a plane to Canada Grin

Spudlet · 10/01/2020 20:07

I know I’ve said this before, but becoming a parent can really dredge up old traumas that you thought you’d dealt with, and Harry has more than a few of those. If I was him, I’d do anything to protect my son from going through what I had. The thought of Diana’s death and the aftermath that he had to deal with must haunt him, and the thought of Archie going through the same... what wouldn’t you do to avoid that? My own childhood sadness wasn’t a fraction of what they went through but I’d do anything to protect DS from it - anything.

I think it’s been handled incredibly clumsily and can only really quote DSs current favourite saying - ‘What a mess!’ (normally uttered as we regard whatever he’s tipped all over the floor this time 🙄). But if they can make it work I think it’s for the best for them.

Thisenglishlife · 10/01/2020 20:12

A comment I read about Sussexit:

*William is doing work he doesn’t care about, interacting with a press he doesn’t like, surrounded by family he’s too petulant to have a good relationship with, and the only reason he’s living like this is so he can eventually be King.

Every time Harry and Meghan bring too much attention to the BRF, the ridiculousness of having royalty in the 21st century risks being exposed. I think all of them are very worried that they’ve lived their lives in these miserable, protocol-heavy, cold, emotionally distant ways, turning their homes into offices that are full of gossiping a#shole courtiers, turning their family events into “work” and PR exercises, and in the end, the monarchy might be absolved. They will have lived like this for no reason. I think that’s the main concern of everyone involved, right down to the courtiers. They don’t want this farce to be exposed for what it is because then it means they will have lived like this for no reason at all.*

TheNavigator · 10/01/2020 20:18

I am totally team Meghan - looking forward to their next step and her lovely clothes

banivani · 10/01/2020 20:19

@paradyning Grin

I miss Bertrand too and was thinking of her when this kicked off!

You missed the link to the CPV outfit @MotherofPearl - it was www.instagram.com/p/B7InyHJg4VV/?hl=sv right? I agree - she often has ill-fitting trousers, don’t know why when she never has this problem with jeans?

First rule of misogyny: Women are responsible for what men do. Obv Harry is just a pawn 🙄

Really it’s textbook MN - get out of the FOG etc!

banivani · 10/01/2020 20:20

Great comment @thisenglishlife

justasking111 · 10/01/2020 20:21

Charles, William, Harry and probably all of them have good reason to dislike the press. They can now grab a picture from 2 miles away, how intrusive is that. They employ lip readers so they cannot even have a conversation when the press are present. What a vile lot they are buying up this stuff and printing it.

Spudlet · 10/01/2020 20:35

thisenglishlife Great comment.

It’s been said before many times, but it’s when you start following them a bit more closely that you see how crazy it all is! All the dozens of near-identical outfits, the protocol that nobody seems to know whether it’s actually protocol or not, the nail polish ‘rules’ and most of all, the intrusion from the press and the apparent dysfunction of the whole ‘Firm’.

Thisenglishlife · 10/01/2020 20:44

What do we think Kate will wear to the Bradford engagement? Coat dress?

Royal style: Monochrome Megs is back in town!
MrsGrindah · 10/01/2020 20:47

Well she likes literal dressing so maybe a flat cap accessorised with a whippet.?

( I’m joking people, I’m from The North)

AudacityOfHope · 10/01/2020 20:48

@thisenglishlife that's exactly my take too. Actually my first thought when I heard the news is that Kate must be absolutely suffused with envy. They've barricaded themselves into what is clearly not that enjoyable a life, and meanwhile their closest peers have shrugged it all off to work out their own path.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/01/2020 20:51

@MrsGrindah or she'll reuse something from her Pakistan wardrobe!

OP posts:
derxa · 10/01/2020 20:53

pmk

Thisenglishlife · 10/01/2020 21:01

Maybe this? Not the best Pakistan look, but it would work well for January.

Bert has been here for years on the grammar school threads.

Let’s not forget that Harry is approaching the age his mother was when she died. I suspect that is also at play.

QueenOfTheAndals · 10/01/2020 21:13

I'd like that a lot more if it was a deeper green @Thisenglishlife.

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 10/01/2020 21:18

Ok stand down all, I've just seen a post by Bert on another thread. Alas it's just us she's abandoned!

OP posts:
AppleKatie · 10/01/2020 21:33

It sounds to me like Harry has been struggling with his MH over the last couple of years and whatever help he’s needed he hasn’t had. That’s really sad. Becoming a father can be a really traumatic time for those who lost a parent young.

AppleKatie · 10/01/2020 21:34

Ahem yes, fashion. I like the green pictured but yes a deeper green would also be nice. I’m sure she could get hold of it in whatever colour she wanted if she wanted.

I suspect a super safe and dull coat dress will be on show instead though given the whole situation at the moment.

derxa · 10/01/2020 21:40

Actually my first thought when I heard the news is that Kate must be absolutely suffused with envy I think Kate loves her life. Or she's a better actress than Meghan.
