I like bare feet in heels otherwise my feet slip around inside the shoes and I wobble. Especially after 10pm and a bottle of Pinot Grig.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/01/2020 09:00

Fair point @ Rhubarbisevil. Maybe Megs feels the same and had planned on hitting the Tig as soon as she got back to Frogmore Grin

Yes Seneca! Nicely put.

Coming from Southern Hemisphere, I find bare legs in winter weird because I'm always cold. But I think it looks fine and if you aren't bothered or are only going to be outside for a minute, no big deal.

Definitely agree a cream jumper would have worked much better.

Mostly though, came on to say I've been watching Blood & Treasure. It's like a poor cousin of Tomb raider. Really bad (but I'm gripped). BUT, the woman's here in there.... if Meghan and Kate could do a bit of that! There's even an amusing line where a bad guy refers to her as hair like a shampoo commercial and I think it's true. The key difference between the actress and M/K is that her hair isn't blow dried as BIG. I think both Meg and Kate could get some style tips.... Will see if I can find pics.

BlingLoving · 08/01/2020 09:33

I think you might need to watch. Here's what I'm trying to do:

queenofarles · 08/01/2020 09:54

bling but it’s really hard to achieve this type of gently styled hair when you are outside, specially during winter when it’s damp and misty, you need to add lots of products.

I think Meghan stopped any keratin treatment for hair and only blow drys it now.
I think a shorter haircut would look much better on both women.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/01/2020 10:00

Perhaps she's still breastfeeding and has had to give up keratin treatments for the time being. Apparerently they aren't as effective as they used to be as they don't contain formeldehyde these days. Which is toxic but is also what made them work in the first place!

OP posts:
WineOrGinOrBoth · 08/01/2020 10:16

Yes Queen I’ve lots of family who say the keratin treatments aren’t as good as they used to be.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/01/2020 10:18

I had one, years ago, which was excellent and then a couple of "milder" ones after that which were nowhere near as good and only lasted a couple of washes. I gave them up entirely when I was pregnant and these days I just go curly.

Meghan has made me embrace green again. And now I really want to rust velvet shoes (which I will never have the opportunity to wear due to living in a very drizzly place)

I really like Kate's flowy and wide leg trouser looks in the last year. I don't really like the slim padded Barbour/skinny jeans look that she seems to go for though. If she's embracing the high street then Joules and Boden would be better casual looks on her. Not a fan of the endless round neck princess seam flicky skirt dresses. She really suits semi-structured and flowing

I am always amazed by Meghan's glowing skin. She looks radiant all the time. As a pasty Brit who shows every bruise, line and shadow I'd love to know her secret (healthy eating, clean living and lots of suncreen...?)

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/01/2020 10:22

@CarrotVan she probably has a long and complicated skincare routine and weekly facials! I'd love to know what foundation she uses too as it just looks like good skin.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/01/2020 10:24

Aha, Armani Luminous Silk, apparently.

evilharpyinapeartree · 08/01/2020 10:24

I loved Meghan’s outfit yesterday. Especislly the coat.

Charles has made a video message for the people affected by the fires. Brought a lump to my throat it did.

frugalkitty · 08/01/2020 10:29

I agree, Meghan always looks radiant and I've never seen a photo of her looking tired/drawn/ropey. Her skin is lovely and she always gets her make up spot on. She's got the knack of looking fresh as a daisy even though she probably uses quite a few products to do so. As someone with blemish prone, pale skin that shows every mark I'm very envious!

Thanks again for the article link Curly it was a good read. I do wonder how PC's vision of a slimmed down monarchy will work though, given the amount of 'behind the scenes' stuff that some of the other royals, like Sophie, do.

CarrotVan · 08/01/2020 10:32

Meghan is very good at coats and boots

frugalkitty · 08/01/2020 10:42

Also, I'd like to clarify my earlier comment about yesterday's outfit looking like she'd got dressed in the dark (like realising you've put navy tights on instead of black)....I hope it didn't come across as rude or nit-picky, what I meant was I thought the colours of the jumper and skirt together weren't quite right together, like when you get dressed in the dark mornings and think you've put black tights on with a black outfit only to realise in daylight later that they're navy and don't quite match. I do try not to be overly critical on here but reading back over the last few pages thought I'd try and explain what I meant in case it came across as not very nice.

Queen your comment about students made me smile, I went to uni in wet and windy Wales and never went out without my trusty duffel coat Grin I hate being cold so would happily pay the cloakroom fee or shove it behind a sofa and hope it didn't get nicked crikey, that's a long time ago now

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/01/2020 10:43

@frugalkitty I suspect the slimming down will still include the Wessexes and Princess Anne as they do quite a lot.

OP posts:
CarrotVan · 08/01/2020 10:51

I assume the slimming down will be ditching the Gloucesters, Kents and Yorks...

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 08/01/2020 10:58

I think the Gloucesters and Kents would be happy to retire.
The York’s less so.... I do feel sorry for Eugenie. I think she would make a good working Royal.
Agree with pps that Anne & the Wessexes will be included.
At some point the Wessexes will be the Duke & Duchess of Edinburgh.
So their «status» will be some what elevated.
I wonder if Lady Louise will carry out engagements as an adult.
George; Charlotte & Louis will probably need the help.

GlamGiraffe · 08/01/2020 11:01

@frugalkitty I was a coat down the back of the sofa stuffer in my student days too. There was always the fear when you were about to go home it might not be there! -it always was.
I cant imagine going coatless (or even tights-less for that matter). I'm always freezing so I'll take anything that helps!

frugalkitty · 08/01/2020 11:36

GlamGiraffe I'm the same, always cold. I've come to realise that my kids aren't as cold as me so I no longer nag them about layering up!

banivani · 08/01/2020 11:50

That's a great video message from PC. I do think he is a good speaker in that way English people have that charm the rest of the world. The Swedish RF are almost always terrible IMO, too stiff and unwilling to stick their necks out and commit to anything.

FairyLightsAreMyCrack · 08/01/2020 12:46

I agree there are a few newer posters who seem at odds with the warm, fluffy ethos of this thread.

I wonder if having Meghan in the title of the thread has unintentionally brought along all the charmers who are absolutely determined to see the bad in everything she does.

Personally I thought she looked lovely, including her hair. It's a strange standard that only straight, sleek hair is deemed to look 'tidy' by some. I hope she keeps dressing the way she does and doesn't bow to the pressure to turn into an upper middle class clone Smile

TheNavigator · 08/01/2020 13:03

I wonder if having Meghan in the title of the thread has unintentionally brought along all the charmers who are absolutely determined to see the bad in everything she does.

I think that is exactly what has happened and it is really sad (and a bit scary, no wonder she and Harry get so defensive).

Rhubarbisevil · 08/01/2020 13:51

Oh dear. That is sad, if true.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/01/2020 14:25

I think it's a mixture of new posters and posters who keep name changing. There's one in particular who's very recognisable, no matter how many times she changes her name.

I'm not advocating a Mrs Gloss "don't say anything unless it's complimentary" approach but some of the comments yesterday definitely crossed the line from critiquing the clothes to having a pop at the person.
