January Princessing - 1 month - anyone else in?

SparkleBead · 01/01/2020 10:08

Good morning and a Happy New Year!

I have thoroughly enjoyed overindulged myself this Christmas. I am usually very reigned in but I've let go to make the most of the festivities.

However I have put on 7lb (eek!) over the Christmas period, had late nights, hardly any fruit or veg or enough water etc.

Anyone else want to do a little January princessing to get the New Year off to a good start?

Daily basic list for me:

Drink 2 litres of water
Take multivitamins
No junk at all
Early nights.

End of Jan goal
To have lost the 7lb and feel healthier!

Would be good to have some company!

Ohhhh · 01/01/2020 10:30

I'm in!

I need some motivation to do this so having company seems ideal.

I was overweight even before Christmas and although I've not weighed myself I can tell I've put weight on (will weigh myself later)

I'm doing Veganuary....again Confused. I always struggle with drinking enough water but when I do manage to drink enough I feel fantastic.

Cambionome · 01/01/2020 10:39

I'm in too! Also struggle with drinking enough water... just off to have a glass now!

littleredlipstick · 01/01/2020 11:10

Me!

Hoping to do the following

  1. Lose 7lb
  2. Drink 2l of water daily
  3. Take my vitamins
  4. Wear basic make up for work (mascara, neutral eye shadow, lip balm) bought some still skin balance hoping it will even out my complexion ( it's the one with green, purple and peach in it)
  5. Plan clothes night before for work
  6. Keep up skin care routine
Fishcakey · 01/01/2020 12:04

Definitely!

I've put on about two stone since the summer so dieting starts now.
No alcohol on school nights.
Longer dog walks - have been slacking off and Dog No1 is getting fat too!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/01/2020 12:08

I'm in Grin

Plan:
Weight loss . No messing, no faffing , no excuses. I had an emergency surgery last year and it has taken a lot of time to get on the path to recovery . I'm not 'overweight' on the BMI charts but I know it doesn't help having the excess round my middle . If I leave things , it'll find a permenant home there .
So: weigh on the 1st of the month and write in my diary . Measure hips/waist/bust and take a note -with the aim on reducing the waist.

My hair has finally grown to a shoulder length bob (after over a year of De-Pixi-ing ) booked to have a trim .

Dental appointments booked

I have culled my wardrobe of leggings that don't fit and dig into my poor waist , bought some that fit . (I'm not falling into the "I'll slim into them" because I'll either have nothing to wear or I'll suffer . Bugger it , they;re some £10 leggings . They've gone . I have sized up. When I am successful, I will replace them)

Not buying loads of shampoos and products. I have found Holy Grails and I'm using them.

On Low-Spend (not No-Spend , that wouldn't work)

I drink a shed load of water (menopausal symptoms) but I don't drink alcohol anyway .
I've cut down on coffee and embraced tea (which I never touched before ) not sure if it's better for me , but cutting the coffee down helps a bit . I get withdrawel headaches . Woke up this morning with one , hadn't had coffee since 4pm yesterday so I know it's that . Not a good start to 2020 (but easy to remedy with coffee !)

Flurgle · 01/01/2020 12:11

Yup
I’m also on the mile a day thread.
Going to work on my fitness and weight. Look after my hair and skin, drink water. Make an effort with clothes as I tend to just wear whatever covers me up best.

easythere · 01/01/2020 12:11

I'm in!

I never drink enough (far from it) so I'd like to see if it makes a change!

I've got a nasty habit of snacking too - even when it's not Christmas - with a 3 year old and an 8 month old I tend to graze, so I'm going to try and stick to a 3 meal a day plan.

CoffeeCoinneseur · 01/01/2020 12:12

I'm in...

  1. Dry January. I don't drink much but I've had at least one or two glasses of wine every day since 20th December.
  1. Drink more water. I've never drank enough, I got one of those measuring bottles with a mark on each hour for how much you should have drank.
  1. Take make-up off every night before bed, again I don't think I've done this since 20th Dec - I'm having a make-up free day today.
  1. Carry on taking daily multivitamins - the one thing I'm actually good at doing and keeping up.
  1. We're going to be vegetarian (well, I am) for at least 3 days a week in January to see how it goes and increase it. Also going to try and cut down on bread, I eat a silly amount and I feel bloated and sluggish a lot of the time afterwards.
Missushb · 01/01/2020 12:17

Me!!! Need to lose a few stone.
Holiday booked for end of June so really need to sort myself out, this thread is ideal.

  1. Drink 2 litres of water each day
  2. Meal plan- I eat erratically then stuff my face at night. Fresh start today!!
  3. 10,000 steps per day, 30 mins of exercise each day.
  4. More sleep!
Missushb · 01/01/2020 12:19

Easythere I am the same, I have a very lively/exhausting 2 year old plus a 7 year old and I tend to get them sorted meal wise, and then graze for myself. I really need to make sure I eat decent meals regularly too.

Ninjakittysmellz · 01/01/2020 12:20

I’m in too! I’m 40 next year and I want this year to be awesome. It’s my birthday in a few days so I will start on Saturday though!

  1. Eat clean - no junk, take away etc
  2. 2 litres of water a day
  3. run 3 times a week, yoga 3 times a week
  4. make up off each night
  5. facial once a month
  6. hit 100000 steps a day
  7. gratitude diary each night to focus on good things that have happened.

I’m sure there are others I can add to the list but these are off top of my head :)

SparkleBead · 01/01/2020 12:47

Wow brilliant! Great to have lots of us here.

I've got off to a good start by drinking my water from the infuser cup, with cucumber in it, also have taken all my vitamins and even dug out the Absolute Collagen sachets which I've had a few months (they are still well in date Smile thankfully as they aren't cheap). Personally I don't like the taste much but I find mixing it in fruit juice helps a lot and if I really can't face the taste then I hold my nose when I drink it Grin

HundredMilesAnHour · 01/01/2020 12:47

I started two days early and I'm pleased that I'm already 1.5kg down.

I'm usually pretty healthy but I injured myself last July so had to reduce my exercise and from Oct I seemed to be plagued with constant viruses so my health has been a mess. Which meant I turned to comfort eating and managed to put 8kg on! I call it my "cake weight" (I did eat a LOT of cake - and loved every minute of it!!)

So:

I want to lose 10kg by the end of March (when I turn 50) so that means 8.5kg to go

Get fitter and stronger - my injury is almost healed so I'm just starting to step up my exercise. I went to a bootcamp class at the gym this morning and was able to do burpees (first time since my injury) so I'm SO happy! I'm already back to exercising 6 days a week but now able to start increasing the intensity.

Continue walking 10,000 - 25,000 steps a day

Continue drinking lots of water (I always have at least 10 big glasses a day)

Continue with my vitamin supplements

Increase my intake of green vegetables (I used to be so good at this but then cake took over Blush)

Stop eating cake and/or sugary things

Limit my calorie intake to 1200-1400 calories per day (1400 on days when I'm doing double gym sessions, 1200 on days when I'm only training once)

I will admit that my motivation to succeed is helped by me having a crush on a man in my gym. Grin

Sparklyring · 01/01/2020 13:32

Liveandforget · 01/01/2020 13:50

Sparklyring · 01/01/2020 15:34

@CoffeeCoinneseur @Liveandforget

It's an app that a few girls at work have been doing. I'll try and add photos. It's a check list and a step by step guide as how to do it. Theres various levels and various squats you can do. I started it to naively assuming you'd start with a small amount... I was wrong, you start with 30!! I did though :-D

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 01/01/2020 15:54

I'm in too!

  1. Remove make up/wash face every night.
  2. Weekly manicure & pedicure.
  3. Go to bed at reasonable time & get at least 6-8 hrs sleep instead of staying up till silly o'clock & always feeling tired
  4. Complete the Couch to 5K challenge.
  5. A Dry January.
  6. Lose a stone by the end of March.
rainydogday · 01/01/2020 17:06

I am in! I am going to do dry January. Try to stop snacks. Eat three sensible meals and within limits (on MyFitnessPal) a day. Spin class twice a week, one Pilates, one free gym and start couch to 5k. Signed up for 10k in of Feb 😱 I also want to buy an alarm clock and leave my phone downstairs at night.

BuddhaAtSea · 01/01/2020 18:27

I’m in too!
I already exercise lots, I plan to continue that.

But what I have been neglecting are my nails and my skin. I wake up so so puffed up is unreal. I lost a stone in December, so my face changed anyway, but by god, I really look awful.

It’s a side effect of not enough fluids, amongst other things. And I wash my face with warm water, I need to change to cold.
Anyway, that’s my plan for January :)

concernedforthefuture · 01/01/2020 18:41

I'm in. I turn 40 soon and need to start looking after myself better.

Floridasunset · 01/01/2020 20:44

Can i join? I've put 4 stone on since having children and funding it hard to be motivated to lose it. I have a 1, 2 and 3 year old so not much time or energy either.

  1. Lose 1 stone in January
  1. I run 3 times a week but have been coasting. Must push myself.
  1. Track spending on food shopping to try and save money
  1. Take daily vitamin
  1. Yoga or Pilates 3 times a week like I used to
  1. Keep the house tidy(ish) as this reduces my stress levels
  1. And now I've added the 30 day squat challenge. Just about to download it!
Floridasunset · 01/01/2020 20:45
  • finding although funding is probably accurate too
