Help me choose an amazing dress

I 'may' be having a significant birthday soon. I was hoping to get a dress made but two local dressmakers have proven useless, so might want to buy one instead.

I'm size 14, used to be hourglass but now a bit rounder, busty. I'm very fussy! I want something that feels dressy but could equally well just be worn with ankle boots and a biker jacket to the pub. Would prefer it to have at least short sleeves, and not be polyester. Black or red probably my best colours, or maybe a dark print.

Budget up to about £200 for something really amazing.

(I'm assuming the two local 'useless' dressmakers also didn't magically make you look different from how you actually look...)

Panda - I like this but velvet always feels Christmassy to me.

The useless dressmakers couldn't be bothered to get back to me about costs. Nothing to do with how I wanted to look!

Bike - it's great, but I'm just too busty for such a high neck now.

I wasn't having a dig, I genuinely thought it was funny. I think the person who finds a dress you like should get a prizeBiscuit

multivac · 27/12/2019 21:04

Yes, I do find that small business people generally 'can't be bothered' to chase work. I'm sure it had nothing to do with your demands or expectations.

Pinkyyy · 27/12/2019 21:05

Whoops didn't mean to put a biscuit, meant to put a Grin

CoffeeBeansGalore · 27/12/2019 21:05

@Pinkyyy no I meant the other person referring to her wanting another body
That's cruel isn't it

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/12/2019 21:06

Oh I know you weren't, Pinkyy. Grin

Cult - sorry. I just want to find a nice dress, but some people think I want my character analysed instead. Silly me!

I think you need to have a look at zadig and Voltaire and the kooples

Can we see a photo of your actual body so we can try find something to suit

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 27/12/2019 21:09

Multivac - if me sending a polite email saying, 'Please could you let me know what sort of costings I'd be looking at for a cotton dress' is me being demanding, and having a bad attitude, then sure.

I honestly don't know how I've deserved your comments, but maybe you'd like to go and find somebody else to sneer at now, please?

Kitri has a lovely green metallic jersey midi dress with a v neck and long sleeves. Any good?
