It's always fun when the tabloids give grades/marks to the outfits

Aftonbladet loved the duvet dress

paradyning · 10/12/2019 17:39

WTF CPV!
Love M's tiara hair bun though disappointed she's not in her fringe tiara
Sofia looks lovely in her dress and does QS.

paradyning · 10/12/2019 17:41

Didn't even no to be Sofia's turquoise. What a versatile piece. I wonder if it converts into a necklace too.

Lunde · 10/12/2019 17:44

I will come clean - one of my dds had an almost identical quilted bedspread from Ellos to the quilted material used for CPV's dress (complete with the rose pattern) when she was in a princess phase when she was 5 (only dds was gold)

banivani · 10/12/2019 17:44

Can't read Aftonbladets reviews, they're hidden behind the paywall. Expressens are open to read and they loved CPV too so there.

banivani · 10/12/2019 17:44

rofl at the bedspread Grin

banivani · 10/12/2019 17:48

Paradyning, it was a necklace from Thailand from the beginning actually. Silvia converted it into a tiara.

hopeishere · 10/12/2019 17:51

That black and white dress is bizarre!! Is there a lady wearing a ball gown and a sailors hat in the first pic Confused

banivani · 10/12/2019 17:53

The white hat is a student's cap, traditionally worn when you graduate high school and then at all university functions. Students from Uppsala university always work the Nobel ceremonies, carrying flags, ushering - that sort of thing. They have to wear all black.

Lunde · 10/12/2019 18:07

The "sailors" hat is - as banivani writes - a high school graduation "student" hat. Everyone gets one when they do A-levels (they can be cheap or really expensive depending on what you choose). The badges and embroidery all have significance for A-level programme, class name/number etc. Even the jewelled badges on the front differ depending on what A-level programme you graduated from.

paradyning · 10/12/2019 18:16

Thanks Bani. Didn't know that about Sofia's tiara.

banivani · 10/12/2019 18:16

I'm watching the live feed www.svtplay.se/video/24511185/nobel/nobel-2019-banketten-10-dec-19-00?start=auto - Madeleine's dress is lovely when seen as a whole, beautiful stiff drape. Lovely to see Prince Daniel and Olga Tokarczuk chatting away too - she seems really nice.

banivani · 10/12/2019 18:17

Neither did I paradyning - just read it somewhere now haha.

StCharlotte · 10/12/2019 18:18

CPV's 2017 ensemble was stunning. Can't believe I missed it before.

banivani · 10/12/2019 18:22

Scroll down here ebbavonsydow.com/ and she's gone through pics from the last ten years for CPV, PM and PS at the Nobels.

Tablefor4 · 10/12/2019 19:00

Feels like CP Victoria is channeling HM Victoria!

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 10/12/2019 19:07

Love Queen Silvia's tiara, proper spiky fairy godmother crown. Anyone know anything about it? I like her dress too, very soft on an older woman.
CPV! Well, that's quite a dress.

frugalkitty · 10/12/2019 19:08

Oh my, CPV looks like an explosion in a duvet factory....who on earth made it? And who let her out the house dressed in it?

I love Sophia's interchangeable tiara, not so keen on the dress, it swamps her a bit. Madeliene looks lovely as usual.

Spudlet · 10/12/2019 19:10

Oooh, I loved the red dress from last year with the dramatic sleeves on Sofia (I would definitely trip over those bad boys) and CPVs sparkly blue maternity number!

banivani · 10/12/2019 19:28

Hugh Grant's girlfriend's mother is sitting at the top table

Silvia's tiara is the queen Sophia one. I don't know what that means Grin am not a tiara person. It's some sort of comb that was repurposed?

banivani · 10/12/2019 19:33

CPV:s fantastic dress is by Selam Fessahaye

fashionweek.se/designers/selam-fessahaye/
www.vogue.com/article/designer-profile-selam-fessahaye-swedish-eritrean-fashion-designer-stylist

Such a brave choice, it's really unusual. I'd like to think it's a bit of a wink to the late Sara Danius' stunning dresses, and thus a wink that she's choosing sides in the Swedish Academy war between the reformists and the traditionalists. Guess which side wanted to hush up the rape of women and chose Peter Handke for this year's literary prize.

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 10/12/2019 19:42

Love this one from 2015!

AdaColeman · 10/12/2019 19:49

Hugh & Anna are married now.

banivani · 10/12/2019 19:54

Oh I'd missed that! Well, Anna's mother is filling in for the prime minister's wife who was indisposed or something.

I'm engrossed in the political side of this years Nobel awards - demonstrations and protests galore going on. But for you all:

Silvia's tiara is affectionately known as the nine-printer by my tiara guru the royal order of sartorial splendour blog.
