@alliwantisagoodnightssleep I thought the same thing! Bit hypocritical of her isn’t it really? She would know what the reaction would have been.. a lot of American fans of Meghan are delighted the attention is off her and are really putting the boot in.

As others have said, 59 mins and 50 seconds of a really nice show, and this 10 second clip is now all that people are bothered about!

Catrescue1971 · 18/12/2019 21:33

I naturally thought (even before all this palaver) the heat from the fire was burning her so when he touched her it hurt, do she moved.

megletthesecond · 18/12/2019 21:42

Charlene doesn't even try to fake it does she. No shits given.

dementedma · 18/12/2019 21:47

Poor George. He really does seem uncomfortable when thePress are around.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/12/2019 22:42

Tbh I didn't even notice anything when I watched the programme. The first I knew of it was the thread here, which has swiftly been followed by the tabloids picking it up. Or maybe it was the other way around and the OP of the other thread was a hack trying to stir things up for a story. Who knows? The press always pick up on some tiny thing and blow it out of proportion.

I don't want to be the thread police but let's just leave them to it and stick to more positive topics on here! Maxima in sequins, anyone?

I remember seeing clips of the royals driving into BP maybe for Charles party last year, may even have been this dinner last year I'm not sure but looks horrible all the press with their big lenses and flashes trying to get as close to the window as possible I can see why George doesn't like it.

I think it's sad that people are so happy to jump on the bandwagon with the shrug video. If it was nothing then how horrible to be picked apart for a badly timed shrug, if it is something then that's still a marriage there are children its not a happy thing if they are struggling.

Why are people so fixed on this and missing the fact that Andrew showed up with security who is paying for that now he is a private royal? Was at a party there on Monday and apart from not being put on royal visits seems to have had very little change despite allegations of being involved in crime? But no women shrugs husband's hand away that's the story to follow Angry

Sorry I will come down off my soap box now Blush

itswinetime · 18/12/2019 22:55

Sorry I was typing while you posted queen love that dress on max everyone should sparkle in the holidays Crown Smile

hoteltango · 18/12/2019 23:00

I know very little about cosmetic treatments, botox/surgery, so I can't tell if Charlene's been botoxed up to the hilt or whether she just doesn't show emotions. I have watched the video of her wedding, and she seemed very strained by all that; which is probably understandable given how far she had to walk, with that train, all by herself. But there is a tightness to her eyes, as though she's trying not to cry, which is similar to a look that Kate had a while back - it was an evening do, but I can't recall which one.

As for George, I do feel sorry for him. He clearly doesn't like the media attention. I wonder if he yet knows that that his life forever. I can see the resemblance to his Middleton grandfather, but I can also see a resemblance to Edward VIII, who never wanted to be king. It does raise the question of how, in an age-appropriate way, it's explained that you actually can't be anything you choose, you don't have a choice, you will be the king some day.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 18/12/2019 23:02

Charlene looks absolutely miserable poor woman.
I think this gossip about Kate and William is horrible. If I were her I would be so upset. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. Some people seem unable to believe they are actually happy and love one another.

Pieceofpurplesky · 18/12/2019 23:06

Reading this whilst waiting for Star Wars midnight show. Wish I had a tiara right now to shine amidst the Wookiee onesies and stormtroopers. However, I give you a wonderful royal crown ....

The media will eat itself alive in the end. The DM went with "shruggate"'two days ago. They knew exactly what they were stirring up. Yet They were so pro Kate these past 18months and had her up on a pedestal, but of course they had Meghan to bait.

Now Meghan has disappeared from view and they need grist for the milll.

DontFearTheReaper · 18/12/2019 23:36

Me too hotel re George.

Kate is looking a bit Botox forehead - where the sides move up when you talk/smile/laugh etc but the centre doesn’t.

beanaseireann · 19/12/2019 00:37

Maxima looks great.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/12/2019 06:17

Andrew didn’t go
Here’s a flavour of the guests; who we’ll no doubt be seeing in June; wherever the wedding will be....

Quite Encyclo The mail have even tried to make something out of the fact that the Cambridges arrived separately conveniently forgetting they left together.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/12/2019 07:51

Another photo of Max in her sequins and she's got the hair right too! Sometimes it looks a bit fried but the waves really suit her. Her companion's hair however...well it's a look!

purplesky I hope the film was good! My youngest wanted to see the midnight showing when the first one came out a couple of years back, our cinema was doing all six films prior to it midnight release and he was so cross that I wouldn't take him.....he was 8! Grin

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 19/12/2019 08:33

I think it would be a fairer system for allow any of the monarchs children to be Queen/King if the first born doesn't want to do.
So if George or Charlotte don't want the responsibility because say George wants to be in the RAF or & Charlotte wants to be an investment banker or any particular job of their choice, then if Louis wants the 'top job' then he should have it.
I suppose you then have the chance of none of them wanting to do & so it goes to the next in line who wants it even if that person is 16th in line to the throne.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 19/12/2019 09:09

TracyBeakerSoYeah

I like that idea.
However with each generation; I feel less attached to the idea of a monarchy.

I'd like to see Kate as Queen. But after William & Kate; especially if there is a breakup of the Union. What is the actual point of a monarch of England & Wales?

I read it a while back, but a non political president based on lifetime achievement to represent the UK. Voted for by the population, would be much fairer.

If the current Windsors want to keep.their titles; then I have no objection to that. But they should drop the HRH, the security and all the funding.

There are enough snobs in the world who like having titles friends and will open doors for them. But as long as the taxpayer doesn't subsidise them and the palaces are open to the public and pay for themselves, I just cannot see this unearned privilege continuing.
And I say this as a monarchist for all of my life.
However the more they appear "like us" and talk about their lives. Then I think they're nothing special.

ajandjjmum · 19/12/2019 09:26

I thought Beatrice had cancelled her engagement party - must have felt very odd not having her DF there. Really bitchy comment - but Fergie isn't aging well imo.

FiveTwoFaster · 19/12/2019 09:44

Tucked away in the Mail article it says that the group were rude to staff.

More surprised at Robert de Niro frankly! Maybe he was just going to another part of the restaurant and they only booked the bar.

Gooseysgirl · 19/12/2019 09:48

Totally agree with you @CurlyWurlyTwirly I just can't see it going the distance in the long term.

Laiste · 19/12/2019 09:54

Sounds good to me. My vote - Sir David Attenborough.

But the risk is that you end up with someone like Trump. After all he was not a politician and had no political experience when he decided to run for president
