Borjois being discontinued in the UK

Juancornetto · 07/12/2019 07:20

I saw another thread that Borjois is going to be discontinued in the UK and googling shows that it's true Sad

www.google.com/amp/s/www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/beauty-hair/makeup/amp30056261/bourjois-discontinued-uk/

I love their 123 foundation and CC cream as well as their clubbing liquid eyeliner, can anyone recommend alternatives?

Thanks for the tips about the No7 foundation canvasbag and Mustard. I'll give it a go.

Trewser · 08/12/2019 09:09

I have the no 7 stay perfect and it's really good.

ClinkyMonkey · 08/12/2019 09:47

Very sorry to hear that about Bourjois. My mum used their blusher in the 1970s - same little dome shape as the current ones, but in a cardboard container (more environmentally friendly!). I've bought loads of their makeup over the years.

Puppylucky · 08/12/2019 14:25

Oh I remember those cardboard blusher pots! I thought they were the height of retro glamour and persisted in buying them even though the colours did nothing for me.

Honeybee85 · 08/12/2019 14:27

It’s a shame, the bronzer and the blushes are so lovely. But I think you can still buy them trough Amazon (I unfortunately live in a Bourjois deprived country too). But be careful about counterfeit items (for those who haven’t seen Broken on Netflix yet).

IfNot · 08/12/2019 14:32

Bourjois don't need to "update" they have so many great classic products! I'm really sad to lose them.

Branster · 08/12/2019 14:47

Strawberrynet is a legit site. I used to use it quite a few years ago as it was cheaper for certain pricey items, before the days of cultbeauty, lookfantastic and Amazon weren't that hot on beaut back then. I remember having to pay import tax though.
So annoying, I love Bourjois, they don’t need to change anything, their stuff works as it is, have been using their foundation and blushers for years and never found a good enough replacement for my skin.

Branster · 08/12/2019 18:14

Just a thought ... Yves Rocher (who does the nicest shampoo for blonde hair) have already left the UK market. Now Bourjois is going. At this rate we’ll loose all the nice, good quality affordable French brands like Roche Posay, Vichy etc. When Clarins leaves I’m moving to France.

Greenmay · 09/12/2019 01:23

Damn, I like the lipsticks too & always some nice shades to suit me.

I find the revolution/nyx stands a bit overwhelming & haven't a clue what half the products are even for Blush. Although my teen niece tends to go for brands, Mac, urban decay etc & not rimmel priced like we did as teens (still do).

IWouldBeSuperb · 09/12/2019 03:51

Ffs, NOTHING has as much staying power as their liquid clubbing eyeliner!

Looks like it's back to a smudgy smokey eye for me Sad

Unless anyone knows of a miracle alternative??

Honeybee85 · 09/12/2019 05:38

For those who can afford to pay a bit more: rumor has it that Bourjois and Chanel are produced in the same factory and are therefor nearly identical products. I do think their blushes have many similarities including the lovely smell.

Juancornetto · 09/12/2019 07:43

Chanel used to own Borjois but sold it to Coty about 5 years ago. Apparently the Healthy Mix foundation is similar to Chanel Vitalimière Aqua, unfortunately the Chanel is about £32 Angry

@Juancornetto

Oh I didn’t know that it didn’t belong to the same owner anymore! Yes, Chanel is very expensive but the quality is great. Their eyeshadows are gorgeous too and I do find them quite similar in texture to the Bourjois ones!

As for nice quality drugstore make up, I think L’Oreal has great mascara, eyeshadow and lipsticks. My best friend also swears by their eyeliner (I never use eyeliner so no idea if it’s good or not).

Maybelline has great lipsticks too.
For blush I would check Max Factor, the Creme Puff ones are great!

IfNot · 09/12/2019 08:07

I love the smell of Loreal lipstick. Their lipstick colours are the best high st ones but the texture is too thick and dry for me.
I think Lancome and Loreal are the same?

BillywigSting · 09/12/2019 08:10

Nooo!

Healthy mix powder foundation and the blush in the little pink compact with the semi circular brush have my favourite since I was about 18!

I have tried other brands and they just don't compare!

Will we still be able to buy online do you think?

Honeybee85 · 09/12/2019 08:16

@IfNot

I also heard that rumor re L’Oreal and Lancome!
A few years ago I was hooked on Lancome Erika F eyeshadow when I heard this rumor and that L’Oreal had a dupe for said eyeshadow.
I went to the shop to compare it and I must say, it was very similar but still the Lancome was better quality (more pigment, better texture and longevity etc).

IfNot · 09/12/2019 08:23

I think they are the same company but yes, Lancome is better quality. Does Stila still exist? Always like their eyeshadow.

Honeybee85 · 09/12/2019 08:27

Yes Stila still exists. Saw some of their liquid eyeshadows in a shop last week. Lovely products but a bit too glittery for my taste.

I love Laura Mercier and Shu Uemura eyeshadows these days!

TreesRUs · 09/12/2019 08:28

Hate it when this happens. End up spending loads trying to work out alternatives.

As it’s only being removed from the UK does that mean we will still be able to order online and pay a bit more for delivery?

BlaueLagune · 09/12/2019 16:06

I have the no 7 stay perfect and it's really good

I thought I'd read on here that that was being discontinued too, it's the "tubing" one isn't it?

Delatron · 09/12/2019 19:46

I was so sad to read this. Their radiance concealer is the only one that doesn’t settle in to the wrinkles under my eyes. It’s amazing. I don’t even mind playing ££ but it’s still the best out there. Wondering if I’ve left it too late to stock up..

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/12/2019 19:52

Delatron I used to use that one but have moved to Revlon eye primer,it's very good.

Auldspinster · 09/12/2019 20:00

You should still be able to buy it on Amazon. That said I'm hoping I can get hold of a bottle of their 123 foundation before it disappears.

Delatron · 09/12/2019 20:43

Ooh thanks @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor that’s a great tip. Will try the Revlon one!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/12/2019 21:57

It's a brightener but so good and doesn't settle in creases. I bought the Maybelline one recently that everyone bangs on about and I was horrified at how bad it was and ended up binning it!
