I saw another thread that Borjois is going to be discontinued in the UK and googling shows that it's true Sad

www.google.com/amp/s/www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/beauty-hair/makeup/amp30056261/bourjois-discontinued-uk/

I love their 123 foundation and CC cream as well as their clubbing liquid eyeliner, can anyone recommend alternatives?

Superdrug online are doing 50% off..or so their Facebook post said anyway.

Ohhhh noooo!! I only discovered this yesterday when I went to replenish my stock of Healthmix anti-fatigue primer and couldn't find Bourgois in Superdrug anymore and the big Boots only had a small amount of products left and no primer. I adore that primer and have been absolutely faithful to it since I discovered it about a year ago (I've always been pretty fickle when it comes to make up but the minute I discovered this I knew nothing else would ever do). I don't even always use foundation over it, I just rub it on like moisturiser and it instantly makes my skin just look like a better version of itself. Magic stuff. I also use Healthy mix foundation (the gel one, the normal one and the BB cream depending on how dry my skin is feeling) and they are all wonderful on my skin and don't settle in pores or look cakey.

I've just bulk bought online from a company called Salon Skincare. Never bought from them before but hopefully will be ok. Got 5 of my primers at £3.89 each and bottles of foundation at £5.36 and BB cream at £3.64. Should keep me going for a while Grin

Ocado users: they have stock of some Bourjois at 25% off, including my beloved Rouge Velvet lipsticks and the nail polish remover pots, and the serum foundation in 3 shades. Just stocked up!

violetgrey · 13/12/2019 21:56

Feel Unique has some stock left.

Is Bourjois closing down or just exiting the UK market ?

When and why did Chanel sell it ?

Mumsnetters are so knowledgeable.
I didn't know any of the above.

Branster · 14/12/2019 11:20

I think it’s just the UK market they are leaving.
Yves Rocher left the UK (last year I think?) but still trading.
Maybe to do with Brexit.
I want to thank OP for starting this thread and all others on here for their tips.
In the end I bought only 1 replacement foundation through Amazon (saved quite a few other products in my wish list though For future reference). There were quite a few products available a few days ago.
It’s sooo annoying!

@beanaseireann article

I got some healthy mix serum foundation the other day - I prefer it to no7 hydraluminous. And also got one of their liquid eyeshadows which is great, really blendable. But there wasn’t much left that I wanted in the boots I was in! Might have a look in a bigger one to see if I can stock up on more of the foundation.

Branster · 14/12/2019 13:16

BowiesJumper thanks for the link.
I can’t think of anything worse than Kylie Janner’s Makeup or anything endorsed or produced by the Kardashians, they don’t inspire me at all in terms of innovation, good taste, high quality, credibility.

Branster · 14/12/2019 13:18

Sorry I meant NewModelArmyMayhem18 thanks for the link

beanaseireann · 14/12/2019 14:47

Thank you NewModelArmyMayhem18 & Branster.
If they leave the UK they may or may not leave Ireland. Is it Brexit?
Yves Rocher, despite some of their products being made in Ireland, were never sold in Ireland Sad

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 14/12/2019 15:32

An excuse to go to France and stock up while there Wink.

Coty own Bourjois & also Rimmel, Max Factor & CoverGirl amongst others.
Coty have recently acquired 51% of Kylie Cosmetics (bought for $600 million)
Now from reading the cosmetic & beauty industry news/journals/websites, Coty don't know quite what to do with Bourjois, where to position the brand & haven't invested in the brand either.
Max Factor & Rimmel have their loyal followers & everyone uses their products at some point.
Max Factor build on their Hollywood heritage & Rimmel is inexpensive & sells well.
CoverGirl is massive in the US.

Coty have been been enviously eyeing up Fenty Beauty (Rihanna collaborated with LVMH to develop, make & sell her products)
LMVH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy) were very clever in doing the deal to have Fenty sold in Boots & having the brand placed by entrances so it grabs your eye as you walk through the door. All ages shop in Boots & Fenty Beauty is appealing to all ages (I like it & I'm in my 40s, my DD likes it & she's a teenager, even my DM who loves make up & is in her late 60's bought a Fenty Foundation) because the products are good, inclusive & Rihanna has that 'it factor' & everyone likes her as she's got that sparkle but is appears approachable & down to earth but doesn't live her life constantly on social media. So she's also got that aura of mystique too. Perfect superstar.
The word is that Coty want to have Kylie Cosmetics in Boots or SuperDrug so they can challenge Fenty Beauty & take their customers, thus making lots of money.
However I feel that Kylie Cosmetics won't take Fenty Beauty's crown after the initial interest in KC has died down for various reasons.
The demographic Kylie mainly appeals to are the 15 - 25 age group (which spend loads but are fickle)
Not everyone 'knows' Kylie or just know of her as a Kardashian. The Kardashians are like marmite you either love them or hate them.
Kylie seems like a really nice girl (she's my favourite K ) but is trading just on her name as she hasn't really done anything else & I think she's over exposed on social media.
Her products are good like Rihanna's. But Kylie's sales are dropping in the US due to far too many product launches (there's only so many palettes/lipsticks/hi lighters you can buy & use)

Unfortunately Bourjois won't make Coty megabucks.
Now whether I'm proved right or wrong well we'll see.
(And boy this is a long post & thank you for reading it 😊 )

Branster · 14/12/2019 22:58

beanaseireann I didn’t realise Y Rocher wasn’t sold in Ireland, how weird. So maybe Bourjois will be available in Ireland for longer.
TracyBeakerSoYeah Rihanna, as a brand name, has more traction in terms of quality than Kylie. If only because R has actually got a job, talent and is cool. Kyle, nice as she may be, has no real value in those terms. R’s products are edited and packaging is interesting and, from what I read in the past, she is a champion for makeup suitable to all colours which, by now, should be standard in all beauty lines but that’s another story. Kyle’s stuff really is being churned out for the sake of it. I have to admit I haven’t followed Kylie’s launches that closely so she may well have an equally positive spin on it. I wasn’t impressed with the basic skincare, the packaging for a start looked ghastly and immature but maybe that’s what appeals to young girls.
Based on your clear run down of brands portfolio, it makes sense to attack the market with a load of Kylie.
Whatever will happen, the fact remains Bourjois has heritage, has very good affordable products and those of us who relied on it are a bit sad to see it go from the UK market. I’d be really sad to see it go for good though. Maybe someone else will buy it from Coty.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 15/12/2019 00:03

I too hope someone will buy Bourjois from Coty & invest in the brand.
Bourjois has loads of potential with the right buyer, capitalise on the French chic/glamour & brand heritage. That's what always appealed to me about Bourjois. Plus their lipsticks are the best & I love the smell of the products.

Juancornetto · 15/12/2019 16:35

Yes, the French angle always appealed to me
I don't think that the Kylie Jenner aesthetic has too much longer to run. Tends are so cyclical, I think we're due a return of the pared back look before too long and Bourjois could target that market really well
