It's cold outside so the lovely friendly perfumistas are by the fireplace, sniffing our scarves and dreaming of the desert

Oh, btw, 4160 Tuesdays are doing a sample swop thing in february where you send in your unwanted 4160 samples and get a voucher for money off...

Stinkyeddie · 01/12/2019 19:05

blue
Amazing choices! Love both of those...

MrsMoggs · 01/12/2019 19:54

That's interesting Eddie - do you know what they are going to do with them once they get them back?

Stinkyeddie · 01/12/2019 20:06

I'll try and find the link...

Also having a January sale at the end of January

Stinkyeddie · 01/12/2019 20:08

Here it is:

"I'm thinking of running a massive sample swap amnesty. Goodness only knows how chaotic it could get, but really I would rather do a massive swap-enabling than keep on using up little glass vials. I might operate a points system and for every one swapped we could keep score and bung you a discount code at the end of it. What do you think? Do it in February when it's cold, dark, and miserable and every other eejit is doing Valentines pink stuff?"

Calmasasleepycat · 01/12/2019 21:22

Really lovely review, Teta, you’ve set a high bar! White Queen is beautiful.

MrsM, I’m all set up for tomorrow (and will come back to you if any problems).

Pots, thank you for the lovely package! I picked it up yesterday. I was delighted with my very first Christmas card of 2019 (and with the extras!).

Bluesheep8 · 02/12/2019 06:06

stinky youth dew definitely divides opinion but I LOVE it. It even got a positive comment from a guy in his 20s who asked me what it was as he was looking for an unusal perfume for his girlfriend. The perfume shop have it for £19.99 at the moment but I am having no luck tracking down the bath oil

Stinkyeddie · 02/12/2019 07:46

Calmasasleepycat · 02/12/2019 09:39

Kali, no worries, I have over-written!

teta · 02/12/2019 09:41

@Kali 😄 .....sorry , it's something I would do too.
And I did like your review @Calmasasleepycat.
Sotd is Tobacco Rose as I'm feeling in a Ambergris mood and I haven't worn this in a while. Yesterday I wore Private Collection White Moss & Jasmine.

slinkysaluki · 02/12/2019 10:06

Recently discovered Sylvaine Delacourte, Paris perfumier. You can purchase sample packs. Ive had the musk and the vanilla samples they also do an orange blossom one. 5 samples in each collection. Really lovely

MrsMoggs · 02/12/2019 10:47

Thanks for the tip Slinky.

Don't worry Kali - easily done and easily sorted.

Calm - thank you for your lovely review and warming image (very welcome on this chilly morning). You have me reaching for the Tauer Amber Flush body oil which I'm guessing smells like Amber Flash? With you on the vegetal notes on opening and also on the absence of cedar.

BlueSkyAtChristmas · 02/12/2019 12:27

Hello it’s Blue here - back after a long hiatus and with a name change! I have occasionally lurked to see what you’ve been up to. Even with name changes I can identify most of you from the favourite perfumes and writing style! (Not actually identify you irl don’t worry!!)

I have not been wearing as much perfume since being taken down with awful pregnancy sickness and breastfeeding a newborn, but I’m back on the perfume train! Not sure how often I’ll post because I have an 8 month old boy who is very proficient at crawling and attracted to his sister’s Lego Shock which she leaves all over the house.

Quite a lot has happened. Big promotion at work, then found out I was pregnant Shock not planned but ultimately happy about it. Then we had to move house. Absolute nightmare- moved 2 weeks before baby arrived. Lovely baby boy, 15 minute labour (yes really - a record according to the midwife). In the middle of this we had our roof off and replaced at great expense!

Our son has club foot and dairy/ nut allergies. So spent lots of time at the hospital these last few months as he has had plaster casts and then leg braces. He only wears the braces when sleeping now and his feet look normal, although will always be corrected club feet. Apparently Steven Gerrard has it so in good company. I’ve had to change my diet for him and weaning is slow. But he is the loveliest, happiest little boy. He hasn’t complained at all, even when he had hip to foot casts during the heatwave and had to wear cold flannels on his head Grin

Anyway, I’m probably not gonna be able to post much because all of the above keeps me rather busy. Prepping to go back to work soon and need to get him on a bottle, which is challenging!

SOTD is that Atkinsons pirate perfume from our Big Sniff. It’s rather lovely on this cold day. Seems to have matured and enjoying it more second time around. It’s a perfect gourmand for this time of year!

Stinkyeddie · 02/12/2019 12:31

Hi blue
Blimey!!!!
I think busy is an understatement!!?
Huge congrats and welcome back xx

BlueSkyAtChristmas · 02/12/2019 12:32

Ooh quick question. What are older teenage boys wearing these days? Our nephew is very into fashion brands like North Face. I gifted him a bottle from a Perfume Society raffle prize (can’t remember what is was) and he’s finished that and has asked me to replace with something else. Should I educate him or get something the yoof all want? I hear Dior Sauvage is popular. But can’t afford it. Ideally I’d like to put together a box with a few smaller bottles/ samples

Stinkyeddie · 02/12/2019 12:41

How old is he?
For younget teens I rate next fragrances.
If he's older I'd go for something like diesel only the brave or invictus

MrsMoggs · 02/12/2019 12:44

Hey Blue!!! Lovely to have you back and thanks for filling us in on all your news - congratulations! Flowers

DD (who has a Christmas job selling perfume) tells me Eau Sauvage and Only the Brave are popular choices.

Hoping other MIA Perfumistas will check in with the mothership Grin, including Pest and Green (thinking of others too, but nervous I may just have failed to keep track of NCs).

BlueSkyAtChristmas · 02/12/2019 12:57

Hello to you both- I know who you are! Stinky- I think you love 4160 sexiest scent and Dior addict! Mrs Moggs, you are organiser extraordinarie and probably the most knowledgeable perfumista in the mothership!

The boy is 16. So in year 11. Thanks for the recommendations- I have heard of both of these but going to sniff first to see if they meet with my approval before gifting Grin

BlueSkyAtChristmas · 02/12/2019 12:58

Yes would love to know what happened to Pest and Green too!

Stinkyeddie · 02/12/2019 13:00

That is correct :)

BlueSkyAtChristmas · 02/12/2019 13:15

Grin [polishes perfumista badge]

Stinkyeddie · 02/12/2019 13:16
Grin
MrsMoggs · 02/12/2019 14:33

Blue - yes, you are right, I have done a bit of organising 😀. Think others have a stronger claim on knowledge though, but you are very kind. Flowers

KaliforniaDreamz · 02/12/2019 14:54

Blue what an amazing update. Congratulations on your wonderful baby boy. What a ride you've had!!

re: teen perfume, I have a 16yo DS and have been recommended CK One Shock but haven't had a chance to snifff it yet, so instead i have got a PP version of eau savage. It's called X-Cite Sensible (lolol) and according to the reviews it is reminiscent more of Acqua di parma. i can live with that!! so i have got him a small bottle and if he loves will rebuy. I like it = quite fresh and citrony but that is a mere sniff of bottle.

xx
