Thank you Yoikes - how helpful that that is also payday
. In the mood to DaBT...January seems to have lasted forever.
Good shout Kali, as I am not usually any use on gourmands - (those featuring a sickly tonka note really switch me off), but Boglins brief sounds more my kind of thing.
So, Boglins, I'd suggest:
Traversee du Bophore (L'Artisan) a sophisticated take on Istanbul, featuring apples, leather, iris, saffron and Turkish delight. Jaw-droppingly beautiful yet comforting and relatively understated, I'd buy almost anything from someone wearing this.
White Queen (4160) - an unusual non-sweet creamy gourmand with a hint of incense. It's sophisticated and comforting (and for some reason always make me think about white carbohydrates even though it's not in the slightest bit doughy or stodgy).
The Great Randello (4160) - vivid pipe tobacco smoke and the whole desert trolley. OK this is sweet - but somehow the brilliant pipe tobacco note cuts the sugariness down to size. I think this is really compelling, again in a boozily comforting sort of way.
Kenzo Elephant for a chai latte vibe with a big cardamom note. (Lots on eBay).
I'm drifting towards fruity now, but to mention Mure et Musc (L'Artisan) - for musky blackberries with a pop of lemon and Rosa Ribes (4160) for a really, really beautiful blackcurrant chypre.
And finally, keep an eye out for Suki Essence (Weil) (spotted recently in TK Maxx). Maybe it's more of an oriental (but with date and vanilla notes so it sort of counts), and is a fabulous bargain if you are a fan LA'dDM (but it is considerably lighter).
Hope the pitch goes well - let us know what you wear and how you get on?
