It's cold outside so the lovely friendly perfumistas are by the fireplace, sniffing our scarves and dreaming of the desert

A very merry Christmas to you and yours piam

MotherOfDragonite · 21/12/2019 09:04

I have the EDP too Judy -- I think it is much nicer actually!

Bluesheep8 · 21/12/2019 10:09

SOTD today will be Philosophy Baby Grace. Clean, fresh and sparkly - just what I need for finally putting up the tree!

teta · 21/12/2019 10:44

Interesting calender review up today.
Have a lovely Christmas Piam.
Enjoy your carol service @Stinkyeddie.
Sotd is again Ffern Winter 2020. I'm not sure what to think of it other than it smells masculine and savoury upon my skin. I'm not keen on the patchouli they've used in both autumn and winter as it really does seem to dominate all the other notes.

MotherOfDragonite · 21/12/2019 16:03

Oh teta, I just came on to post that! It's very masculine on me too. I'm feeling a little bit disappointed actually as I slightly prefer it to autumn but don't really want two such herbal, masculine-leaning fragrances. I'm wondering if it would layer well with something else but I'm not sure what. The spicy clove/cinnamon notes are lovely and I'd have liked something a bit more floral or sweeter with them.

I do much prefer the new sample vial though, it's much easier than the little drop bottles (which also seemed to go a bit oily by the end).

SOTD is Ffern Winter 20!

Stinkyeddie · 21/12/2019 16:20

I've decided on pp by the fireplace 🎄🔥

teta · 21/12/2019 16:56

I mix autumn and summer @MotherOfDragonite. 3 of summer and one of autumn. I find the top and mid-notes a bit much in the Autumn but once it mellows down I like the mid- basenotes.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/12/2019 19:17

SOTD Chanel Coco.

Bluesheep8 · 22/12/2019 07:59

No SOTD today as I'm doing last minute panic buying and intend to reward myself with some Panache (I posted about this previously) if I can find any as it seems Boots have sold out(?) So SOTD will be that, hopefully.

Stinkyeddie · 22/12/2019 08:46

Good luck blue
I got the dreaded twitch yesterday...
So ds2 has another pokemon plush on the way...🙄

Stinkyeddie · 22/12/2019 08:55

Lovely carols by candlelight last night 🎶🎵

No plans today other than festive cleaning/prep.

Sotd will be pp by the fireplace...this is rapidly becoming my autumn/winter signature scent!!

Bluesheep8 · 22/12/2019 09:19

Thanks stinkyeddie going to get SJP Lovely for my mum and one of the new Body Shop aftershave for my step dad

MotherOfDragonite · 22/12/2019 09:54

SOTD is Ffern Winter 20. I decided I liked it and wanted to keep it, which was a good decision as it smells even nicer when sprayed from the bottle (although teta is it really meant to have no cap?! I'm a little perturbed that once I'd fought my way through the impenetrable layers of eco-friendly packacking there was NO CAP... )

It's spicy and gorgeous and herbal.

I actually much prefer it to Autumn and I kind of wish I had returned Autumn as I never got as much use from it as I'd imagined I would.

teta · 22/12/2019 10:39

@Mother I've just decanted the Winter into a spray bottle. It smells completely different sprayed . Much more herbal and fresh with a clean edge. Whereas dabbed all I seemed to get was patchouli and mint. It still smells somewhat gourmand - an aromatic gourmand. It reminds me of making herb-scented stuffing at Christmas. Yes, maybe in the woods in a house with bundles of dried herbs suspended from the rafters.

Stinkyeddie · 22/12/2019 11:50

Sounds divine! :)

blue good choices! :)

Phew. I'm shattered...lots of cleaning and washing happening here this morning. Bluergh.

No idea what I'm cooking for lunch/dinner...
I might just decamp to my bedroom and hope everyone eats cereal :)

Bluesheep8 · 22/12/2019 12:44

stinkyeddie I managed to get my beloved Panache! SO pleased, especially as it was a mere £9 for 100ml edp. So SOTD is Panache now and it's evoking such strong memories of a lady who meant an awful lot to me.

Stinkyeddie · 22/12/2019 12:50

Oh, that's great!
It's a beautiful scent. I hope it's bringing back lovely memories for you x

Lotsofpots · 22/12/2019 13:46

SOTD PP by the fireplace.

I'm in the last few sprays of ambee du cabochard

Lovely stuff!

FloraMacDonald · 22/12/2019 17:10

Sorry the Advent Calendar was late - I've been traipsing round Roman ruins all day (not in Rome, unfortunately) and then my laptop was being a dick. I uploaded the image twice and typed the text three times, so unsurprisingly it is somewhat shorter than originally planned!

Stinkyeddie · 22/12/2019 18:01

Exactly my thoughts on that scent flora!

Dh has complained about ambre du cabochard (he doesn't like it!) So I'm having a shower soon and shall re perfume :)

I've had a sort through my 2 sample boxes and have now got table gifts for all the guests for xmas day :)

Mum has got MH tea tonique and mil has got EPC fig neroli.

Dh has got a gorgeous Kingdom scotland sample and fil has got AT incense extreme.

In the spirit of the honesty and trust on this thread I am now admitting to DAVBT 😈.....

So ds1 and ds2 both have a 9ml from the 4160 JJB 😬

For those who went for it - you'll be VERY pleased. At least 1 of the 9mls is £48 alone!

Anyway, I'm off to watch Elf 😁🎄🎁🎅❄

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 22/12/2019 18:46

SOTD Clinique Wrappings. I have a stinking, rotten cold - happy Christmas to me.

MrsMoggs · 22/12/2019 19:46

Hi All - hope everyone is able to wind-down a bit and get into a Christmassy mood? Have been MIA for a couple of days - but have very much enjoyed catching-up with everyone's reviews.

Have mainly been wearing the The Darkest Bloom (thank you Eddie) as it is an intriguing mix of distinct cool sharp blackcurrant and much warmer ambery base notes. I feel slightly unsettled by this hot 'n' cold combo, but it's quite compelling; I keep wanting to try it again.

Tonight I'm in Choc de Cardin, having read a piece on Fragrantica which sums it up very neatly - it plays on the cologne/chypre cusp, with smoky aldehydes for extra whoosh, and also with a belting animalic note underneath.

Stinkyeddie · 22/12/2019 20:05

Oh judy how rubbish :( Ds1 has some sort of throat thing too.

mrsm SO glad you like it. It was very plummy on me. It's very well made. Have you seen the book its based on?

I feel more festive since last night and the carols :) I'm even debating midnight mass this year! Haven't done that since before ds1 was born...

Got to do last xmas food bits tomorrow so no doubt my festive mood will evaporate!

MotherOfDragonite · 22/12/2019 21:12

MrsMoggs and Stinky... it sounds like Darkest Bloom is totally different on all of us! On me it's got a lot of mandarin orange!
