It's cold outside so the lovely friendly perfumistas are by the fireplace, sniffing our scarves and dreaming of the desert

Blimey!
Skin is weird!

Bluesheep8 · 23/12/2019 06:41

Christmas food shopping this morning. No work today and tomorrow meant a bit too much Wine last night. SOTD will be Panache.

Stinkyeddie · 23/12/2019 08:10

Me too blue

Bluesheep8 · 23/12/2019 10:49

Actually, panache really reminds me of Rive Gauche. The only trouble with RG imo is that it just doesn't last

teta · 23/12/2019 11:35

I also had too much wine last night and consequently didn't sleep properly. So I'm now cross and exhausted. I've decided I'm returning the Ffern as it's just not me. So will be wearing Wrappings as nothing betters it this time of the year. I have very mixed feelings about this Xmas as DH and the two girls are going to Canada to see his Mum ( 93) and the two boys ( not keen on traveling ) are staying with me and we are having Xmas with my parents and sisters families. So this is the first Xmas we're all apart. Plus dd1 has only just returned home from Uni and I miss her - Maudlin☹️
Right, off to buy some Stilton and Vacherin from the deli. If they haven't run out.

Stinkyeddie · 23/12/2019 11:59

Ugh.
I HATE shopping with dh. I have an incipient migraine and feel crappy.
Ugh.
We got everything we needed, I think.
teta hope you have a lovely peaceful xmas x
I'm going to eat some biscuits....

Stinkyeddie · 23/12/2019 17:56

Sote avon mesmerize for her black

It's nice...similar to Estee lauder modern muse nuit

Boglins · 23/12/2019 19:44

I'm all done for Christmas now, finished work, all presents wrapped and all food and booze purchased. Bring it on! Grin

Hope you all have a lovely fragrant Christmas and that those who are feeling poorly or sad feel better soon! Thanks for organising the advent calendar MrsM, it's been a joy to read and to participate in.

MrsMoggs · 23/12/2019 22:50

You're welcome, Boglins, it's a lovely group project and everyone's reviews and images have been even more fabulous this year. I think it disappears quite soon, so everyone should enjoy it whilst it's still visible.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/12/2019 23:01

No SOTD, I am DYING of cold. We are hosting MIL on Wednesday, FFS. I have told DP to suggest she goes to his brother’s, and that he goes with her (brother has his MIL coming, and some complicated story about her dog that means we are not all dining together) but he says he won’t leave me alone at Christmas. I just want to sit under a blanket and cough, not have to make chat. I can’t taste or smell anything anyway.

MrsMoggs · 23/12/2019 23:10

I've not long staggered in from a tour of three supermarkets and am taking a break whilst the sausage rolls are in the oven. Ginger cake and mince tarts to follow, once I summon the energy. The kids have finally stopped fighting and gone to bed. Smile

SotD was The Darkest Bloom (again!). SotE #No.1 is my beloved Sahara Noir (think this would be one of the first things I'd save from a burning building) and #no.2 is Yatagan - which could be my top Christmas scent ever, such a rich, smoky, leathery pine. (And it reminds me of Frugal who always used to recommend it, back in the early days of our franchise).

So here's a question for you all: what are your top 3 new discoveries from 2019? (Mind might be vintage Arpege, Mary Chess Carnation (also vintage) and Olim (Cire Trudon), but I need to have a longer think about this...!).

Bluesheep8 · 24/12/2019 07:23

Do rediscoveries count? If so. Rive Gauche, Youth Dew and Panache. I know I sound like a stuck record about these 3 atm!

Stinkyeddie · 24/12/2019 07:29

Happy Christmas eve everyone! 🎄

judy poor you xxxx ds1 also quite poorly:(

mrsm oooooh...now then....3? Hmmm.

KaliforniaDreamz · 24/12/2019 11:23

Happy Happy Christmas to you all. Thanks for this soft place to land when all gets a little too spikey in the real world.
Thank you for the lovely calendar. I shall try to copy some of the info before it disappears.

MrsMoggs · 24/12/2019 12:58

My sotd is diptyque philosykos and now that it’s just about worn off I’ve sprayed PP killian love don’t be shy. Smells great

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 24/12/2019 19:26

Happy Christmas my lovely perfumed friends!

I'm going to try and reduce my MN time from here on in (may or may not happen!) but hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Decade, and carry on smelling divine Smile

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/12/2019 21:22

SOTD Chanel 19. Merry Christmas lovely perfumed ones! Still rotten with cold here, so MIL is going elsewhere tomorrow, and we’re having the day just the two of us. I feel so guilty. Bleurgh.

VeniceBeach · 26/12/2019 02:04

Merry Christmas! Any perfume gifts recieved this year? I got a Floral Street set which contains 1.5ml samples of all the scents and you get to choose a full size of one of them! Wish I could have five 10mls rather that one 50ml....

Bluesheep8 · 26/12/2019 07:21

I received Body Shop White Musk edp as is dps favourite

Stinkyeddie · 26/12/2019 10:26

Happy St Stephens day!!

I got my long awaited special edition of 4160 sexiest scent with added amber:)

It's utterly divine :)

There are a couple in the JJB I'm not to keen on...they are beautiful but just not me so I'll be selling those at some point.

Ds1 and ds1 liked their scents:)

I got dh CK obsession.

Hope everyone gpt something fragrant :)

Stinkyeddie · 26/12/2019 10:28

Oh btw...

4160 are doing 9ml upgrades til end of December...

So if you order a 9ml and write "Sarah's special upgrade" in the info box you'll actually get one of the new 15ml sizes :)

I've succumbed and got OTCS :)

MrsMoggs · 26/12/2019 10:48

I am very lucky to have a family who like to receive a list with ideas! Consequently I have some lovely and interesting things to sniff to get me through the hard weeks of January. Smile.

Today I'm trying out 67 Artemisia (Pomellato) which is a really wonderful effervescent lemony-green scent which will come into its own in high summer. Completely unisex, with reviews making comparisons to Eau de Guerlain (although the thing I was immediately reminded of is Belle D'Azzaro). In the way of these sorts of cologne-style fragrances, I suspect it won't have much staying power, so one to carry around and re-spritz.

I'm also trying out Fancy Nights (as recommended here! Calm - is this one you have mentioned or am I misattributing this?). So this is really interesting. The opening has an unpleasant whiff of plastic mocha, but that passes almost instantly and it then warms into Coromandel's younger and considerably less formal female relative. The treatment of patchouli is very similar, and dominates, but here it sits in a casual and warm fug of ambery-vanilla.

Really delighted to have received both of these Smile.

And I have perfume quiz cards too!

Stinkyeddie · 26/12/2019 11:13

Wow! Where did you track fancy nights down???
I've been looking for it for ages!
Perfume quiz cards? Intriguing!
