It's cold outside so the lovely friendly perfumistas are by the fireplace, sniffing our scarves and dreaming of the desert

I think we're on thread no 24 - appropriate for the upcoming advent fun!

blue and Eddie i completely get this.
Rive Gauche is a favourite of mine too - my mum wore it when she couldnt afford chanel no5.

Stinkyeddie · 14/12/2019 16:38

My 4160 meet me on the corner crowdfunder arrived today as did my hiding in the library candle, and a freebie called the darkest bloom.
Mmotc is a lovely citrus chypre.

Stinkyeddie · 14/12/2019 20:29

Sote ambre du cabochard

teta · 14/12/2019 20:39

That Chypre perfume sounds wonderful @Stinkyeddie. I love the sound of that candle. I need a library to hide in ..... instead of my bedroom.
@Bluesheep8 it's wonderful to have a whole series of olfactory memories. I can't really remember my relatives perfume apart from my granny's house that smelt of Roses and Lavender. And I remember the smell of blue Grass perfume in Ireland and Kiku powder when I was little.
I'm really enjoying the perfume advent calender today but surely the smell of Raki is an acquired taste? Raki, Rose and Turkish delight must be quite a bit of a heady mixture?
Sotd is Patchouli Clouds for a very chilly Christmas market where teenage dd2 sulked her way around . I was happy - had a Caribbean pasty and some mulled Apple Juice and ignored her.

Stinkyeddie · 14/12/2019 20:46

We went to see jumanji 2 :)

The chypre is gorgeous teta and the patchouli note is so evocative! But, alas, my skin hates it. Grrr.

I also got a 9ml of darkest bloom which is a special for 4160 patrons.

It's divine. Deep, floral, plummy, berries, so well made. And my skin hates that too.

My skin can be very tedious :)

MrsMoggs · 14/12/2019 21:31

Lovely review Calm - now I want to try that side by side with Traversee du Bosphore. Delicious image - you have me rummaging around the kitchen looking for something sweet!

Thanks for the 4160T update Eddie - Meet me on the Corner was on my Christmas list, so fingers crossed. Darkest Bloom sounds amazing - how do you become a patron?

I got caught up in today's vintage mood and dug out Max Factor's LA. This dates to 1980 and is almost impossible to find anything out about (the name isn't very search engine friendly). I did eventually find a list of notes: rose, carnation, hyacinth, jasmine, champagne, oriental woods, oriental spices. I think this is really wearable oriental and like the gently floral spicy-woody vibe.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/12/2019 22:22

SOTD Mitsouko.

teta · 15/12/2019 09:00

Am I on the advent calender again today?
I did the 1st & 13th and I'm down for today. I can do it no problem but I need to do it on a random sample of my own.

teta · 15/12/2019 09:04

@MrsMoggs I think @Judystilldreamsofhorses was the original person down on the 15th.
Sotd is English Breakfast Tea. 👍

MrsMoggs · 15/12/2019 09:16

Teta - sincere apologies, you have spotted this year's mistake! (Hopefully there is just one of them - am double checking now). You are quite right, today is Judy's second date.

Stinkyeddie · 15/12/2019 09:21

If you are a member of the fb group, it's on there :)

If anyone is interested in either mmotc 30mls or darkest bloom 9mks pm me x

I think I'm off for a walk this morning. The sun is shining :)

MrsMoggs · 15/12/2019 09:37

Have just had a fight with the Mexican horns on day 12. The computer froze on them, and I kept clicking and clicking to shut them down/shut them up, but they just kept getting louder as they built towards their finale. Grin.

SotD - this year's first outing for The Great Randello - a generous waft of sweet pipe tobacco, underpinned by boozy trifle layers of fruit and moss. This is a great rich and comforting autumn perfume and is under-rated I think. I'd have it down as a unisex gourmand, although it's classified as fruity chypre on Fragrantica.

ElleEfarr · 15/12/2019 10:12

I've never posted in style and beauty before so please forgive the intrusion but I'm desperate Grin I'm trying to find an aftershave for DP that is my absolute favourite and he's nearly run out, but can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know if it's discontinued??

It's Jean Paul Gaultier 2 (this one - can barely even find online either www.galaxyperfume.co.uk/perfume/12444/Jean-Paul-Gaultier-2-Jean-Paul-Gaultier)

Shall I just give up? I'll be so sad if it's gone forever as it's my absolute favourite and reminds me of when we first met. Does anyone know if there's anything even remotely similar to it on sale now?

ElleEfarr · 15/12/2019 10:18

Also I've just noticed that it's listed on that site as a women's perfume Grin I always thought it was unisex though. Not that it matters! The smell reminds me of a nice rum and coke for some reason Blush

Stinkyeddie · 15/12/2019 11:28

Darkest bloom now gone x

KaliforniaDreamz · 15/12/2019 12:37

@ElleEfar
that link above may not be the same one?
or perfume parlour make a dupe, most of us have had good luck with this site so worth a shot.

Blingismything · 15/12/2019 12:41

Sotd Diorissimo I truly adore this

Stinkyeddie · 15/12/2019 13:31

I'm in ambre du cabochard again (sent by a kindly perfumista...)
I'm out for dinner so will bathe and choose again.
I'm finding that I'm craving comforting/soothing scents atm...

teta · 15/12/2019 13:44

Sotd is Mona Di Orio Musc. The only Musk that works for me. It's warm, cuddly and perfect for this weather. We woke up to snow and now it's rain n hailstones .

Lotsofpots · 15/12/2019 14:42

SOTD 4160 over the chocolate shop. Really hope I get a bottle of this for Christmas.
